Yenros Homestay has five bungalows. There are two over water bungalows,  two beach bungalows, and one bungalow on land.

The bungalows have glazed windows and most have lockable doors. All bungalows have raised beds with mosquito nets, pillows and bolsters.  Power outlets and room light switches and electric fans are provided. Each bedroom also has a small table and towels are supplied.

Yenros Homestay’s dining room is nearby, and enjoys panoramic ocean views. The dining room’s shady deck is a great place to relax, and there are also a couple of seats provided in the shade of beachside trees.

Yenros’ bathroom building is shared by all guests. Bucket bathing and a western style toilet are provided in two separate, concrete-floored rooms.

Electricity is available from a generator, and is available all night. (6PM to 6AM). Yenros receives a strong phone signal.

Yenbeser village is a ten minute boat ride away if you want to visit or buy basic supplies. Please don’t leave any inorganic trash at Yenros. You need to take such rubbish away with you to avoid contributing to Raja Ampat’s growing rubbish problem.

All Yenros guests receive a free tour to see local walking sharks. Free village tours and traditional fishing tours are also available.

Melki speaks excellent English and Yenros Homestay staff live onsite when guests are in residence.

Transport / Getting there

Transfers between Yenros Homestay and Waisai cost IDR 500,000 for 1-4 passengers. (Cost shared by passengers.)

Bookings for more than 2 guests that are longer than 5 nights will receive a free Waisai pickup. (Return to Waisai is not free.)

Read more about Raja Ampat boat transport prices here.

Activities

Excellent snorkelling (bring your own gear) can be had over the pristine coral reef right in front of the homestay, and low tide reveals a fabulous long curve of sandy beach.

Yenros can provide trips to anywhere you want to go. See Yenros' May 2025 pricelist (PDF  35KB) for some popular options.

Wildlife abounds at Yenros. The vast array of reef fish to be seen in front of the homestay includes Yenros' resident wobbegong shark and a few recently identified rare species. Dolphins and turtles are also frequent visitors. All guests receive a free guided tour to see the walking sharks that live in the mangroves near Yenros.

Terrestrial wildlife includes a wide variety of birds, including the mound building megapode known locally as Maleo and several species of parrot. Cuscus are occasional nocturnal visitors, and a host of large (and sometimes noisy!) insect life including giant Atlas Moths can be observed at night.

  • Stayed 5 nights in the older bungalow, which is large, humbly rustic, with a nice view, perfect for someone who values privacy. No fan in the bungalow.

The beach is raked clean daily. Decent house reef, and close to an excellent reef near by. Kuskus shows up nightly.

I liked this place a lot but probably won’t be back because meal quality, quantity needs a lot of improvements unfortunately.

  • I arrived here and loved staying here 5 days. Lots to do and see nearby. Good houses and food. Very nice homereef, beach, jungle,….
I went to other islands and homestays in RA and after that i decided to stay another 13days here at Yenros, so i guess that tells enough.

Only thing that disturbed me was somthimes very noisy music till verry late, that came from nearby friwen island, but that has nothing to do with yenros.

  • Had the best stay at Yenros
Stayed three nights in one of the overwater bungalows
Clean, comfortable, large, and mosquito net in good condition
Amazing views from the bungalow with fish and reef sharks swimming underneath the crystal clear water
Food was also the best we had from the three homestays we stayed in Raja Ampat. Included an afternoon snack which was often delicious fried banana
Melki is an excellent guide who’s clearly spent his life in RJ and knows the area like the back of his hand. Took us on several tours and has a sharp eye for spotting wildlife
Also took us to Waisai and arranged someone at the jetty to buy our VIP tickets for the ferry in advance (they tend to sell out)

  • Our 4th and last homestay. Have to say from the time of booking Melki was good with communication. We stayed an extra night also. We were in the overwater bungalow which was super nice. Comfortable bed, table, good mosquito net and electric all night. The decking looked out over the fabulous sandy beach and clear water where the fish swim under the bungalow.
Snorkelling was nice. Some good corals, especially to the left side of the beach. I saw a turtle there. Also lucky to see a walking shark near our room. Yenros has notices up in the rooms asking us to not stand in certain areas in the water due to the corals which is a great idea. Anemones and nemos are in shallow water around the bungalow also.
The shower block at the back of the beach had shower heads which was nice.
We loved the walk up the headland to the dining area through the forested area. Also the forests behind are wonderful for spotting birds of paradise, parrots and more.
The food was very good. A wide variety of dishes either fish or chicken and fruit every day, even some papaya which was a luxury.
My highlight here was a family of Cuscus that came to the dining area, the male coming down to eat a banana.
We had some trips. Sadly no Dugongs were spotted. Friwen wall snorkeling was very good and Kri and Yenbuba jetty. Prices were good. He also took us to his village which was nice.
We would definitely come back here again. A wonderful end to our Raja Ampat adventure. Thank you to all.

  • Thank you, Melki, for this dream location.
The photos are representative of the area.
we stayed 8 days and it was fabulous.
It’s possible to have a long walk and visit the other hotels.
Melki gave us a guided tour in the evening.
Melki and her family are discreet and available for our well-being.
Don’t forget to keep some money for your return to the ferry and for the outings, which are worth it.
I recommend YENROS and its incredible snorkeling.
Try it in the evening, you won’t regret it; the water is calm and safe.

    bye bye from canada-montreal

  • We spent five nights in Yenros and stayed in the beach bungalow, which is completely shadowed by a tree (so no sea view) and in the on water bungalow, which is fantastic. There are two real showers, which is a nice touch. The house reef is quite good, gets better swimming towards the biodiversity resort. The owner Melki speaks very good English and he’s always kind and willing, we recommend the trip to Cape Kri, the mangroves and Piaynemo. A special thank you for the help as we had a bit of a health issue (Waisai hospital is only 20mins away). We absolutely have to mention the delicious, varied and abundant food, Melki’s wife is a great cook! Just tell right away if you want vegetarian or not spicy food. The coolest place to hang around, have coffee and enjoy the view is the eating space. You can spot the coconut crab and the monitor lizard.

  • We stayed at Yenros Homestay with Melki from 14.-18.1.25. In total we were 6 weeks on 6 different islands and 9 different accommodations. The pickup from Waisai worked great. The overwater bungalow had a covered terrace with two plastic chairs and a plastic table. Fan, mosquito net and bed were good. The food was varied and delicious. Melki showed us the walking sharks at night and we also saw a Cuscus. Dolphins and mantas also came by. Sometimes the flood garbage washed up but Melki kept the beach clean. The toilet and shower were also ok. With his brother we drove to the Friwen Wall, great corals. There is not much going on underwater in front of the bungalow, but 50 meters further left to the rocks towards Raja Ampat Biodiversity is a long, great reef. We saw turtles, reef sharks, colorful corals and lots of colorful fish. Many thanks to Melki and his family.

  • – très beau snorkling juste devant le home stay et dans toute la baie.
    – Melky est disponible, serviable et connaît bien la région, notamment les spots de snorkling. (il a de la famille sur chaque île 😁)
    – bonne nourriture, bon couchage.

  • We recently stayed at Yenros for three nights and loved it! The overwater bungalow was spacious with a stunning view of a private beach. The food was delicious and there was lots to eat at every meal. Emma even made us extra fried bananas when the kids were hungry. Melki was onsite and looked after our family of four very well, arranging snorkeling trips and making sure we got back to Waisai in time for our ferry. His English speaking is excellent which makes it easy to organise activities. The new bungalows are almost finished and look impressive.

  • Our stay at this homestay was a mixed experience.

The pick-up was well-organized, which was much appreciated. In general, Aldi did his best to accommodate the (transportation) requests of all guests.
The food was alright, though the variety of fruits was limited. The same portions of protein and vegetables were prepared regardless of whether there were 2, 4, or 6 people dining. Other travelers seemed delighted by the savory breakfast.
The snorkeling in front of the bungalows was okay. While the hard corals were quite damaged due to the exposed location, there was still plenty to see, including reef sharks, rays, and a wide variety of fish. For better coral and marine life, we swam up to the reef near the biodiversity resort. Unfortunately they couldn’t take us diving on their house reef because they only take people from homestays on the same beach.
Snorkeling at Friwen Wall, just a short boat ride away, was a highlight and conveniently accessible.

The communication with the owner and some staff was difficult. Misleading information and unexpected price changes left us feeling somewhat taken advantage of. Most staff were eager to resolve issues like no running water, a wasp nest on top of the bed, and electricity outages. They always made an effort by using their phones for translation, since only little English was spoken.
Some staff worked hard to clean the beach daily, others lingered in front of the huts, lying in hammocks or playing loud music on their phones in the evening. This created an unsettling lack of privacy. I even witnessed what seemed to be an attempt to flirt with a solo female traveler, which added to the discomfort.

There were no free tours since the owner was on holiday. We arranged a trip to the forest with Simon and Fritz from the nearby village to see the birds of paradise—a must-do and highly recommended.

I have had better stays elsewhere with more hospitable hosts, and I likely would not return to this location.

  • We stayed two nights at Yenros Homestay and unfortunately the homestay was not in good shape. We got rice and chicken as our first meal, and all later meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) were leftovers from this. We ended up getting severly food poisoned by this. The people working there did not speak english which made it very difficult to communicate with them. We planned a trip over whatsapp to go to Kalibiru and agreed on a price for this, but after the trip Milke said we had to pay 1 million IDR more than we agreed on. Our driver also took beetlenuts during our trip and a shot of alcohol, and was visibly affected by this which made us not feel safe in the boat. The next day he took us to waisai (1st of january) and he was so hung over from new years that he fell asleep in the boat while driving us. On our last day the homestay told us that they had used up this months power quota, and instead of them buying more we had to go without power and lights for 24hours which was a bit frustrating as we couldnt charge anything and had to eat dinner in darkness. Unfortunately the coral reef there was also dead. I would recommend staying at another homestay, as there are other much better organized homestays in Raja Ampat

  • This is a difficult review to write.
This was our second visit to Yenros homestay as we liked it so much on our last visit.

5 years ago Yenros was one of the most beautiful homestays in Raja Ampat. The beach was stunning, the reef great, the garden around the homestay well kept, the food mouth watering delicious and the dining deck was the nicest place to hang out and spot wildlife.

But then we visited Yenros this year and saw how it had changed.
There are new bungalows that are nice and spacious, but the homestay is not well taken care of.
There was a lot of trash lying around in the homestay area. There was a lot of plastic on the beach, some from the ocean but some from the homestay itself. Because they were building new bungalows there was a lot of construction waste around like styrofoam and some of it was taken by the tides to the ocean.

The once beautiful garden was now filled with rubble from the old torn down bungalows and rubbish. There was piles of garbage behind our bungalow and it attracted rats and cockroaches.
The construction noice was also constant.

What Yenros needs is not new and fancy bungalows. It severely needs more people to take care of it. The garden needs to be cleaned. The rubbish needs to be burned instantly.

The positive side was that the food was still good, although there was only one woman taking care of everything and we think that she needs help to take care of everything when the homestay is full as there is a lot to do.

We are really sad that to write this and hope that Yenros will homestay will solve these problems and be the beautiful homestay it used to be.

  • The location of Yenros is beautiful and the bungalows and food were comfortsble. But we had a much better experience nearby at Yenanas Paradise. Yenros wasn’t ready for us and were too busy building new bungaliws to attend to us properly. We were much better received elsewhere.

  • We stayed 3 nights at Yenros Homestay, which we really enjoyed. Melki, the owner, picked us up personally and welcomed us warmly. He was the only homestay owner of the places we stayed who cared for us personally and taught us a lot about life in this place. He took us fishing and to see walking sharks for free.

Furthermore, we did two snorkeling trips with him, and he showed us his village, where he usually lives.

We really liked the food. Every day was different and included fresh fruits. His wife is a great cook.

The overwater bungalow was nice with a raised bed and great views. We could also hang our hammock on the porch. The private beach next to the bungalow is absolutely stunning — a paradise feeling! Also the house reef is really nice and you can see a lot of hard and soft corals as well as colorfull fish like parrot fish, napoleon, ray, puffer fish, etc there.

Currently, Melki is moving two of his bungalows to the beachside to make them overwater bungalows. (It seems like they will be really nice too.) Furthermore, the toilet and shower were clean, and we had electricity all day from 6 pm on. Melkis english is really good which made everything easy to organize.

We can highly recommend staying at Yenros.

Thank you Melki & family for having us.

  • Yenros Homestay was our first stop for 6 days before going to the next islands. And it was magnificent!

    Food – 10/10
    Snorkeling – 9/10
    Comfort – 8/10
    Hospitality – 10/10

Corals are beautiful, each day you could see a shark and a turtle, and there is lots of fish. Food portions were huge, we had fresh fish many times and asked Melki to add more fruits, so we had a chance to eat some papaya and snakefruit.
We had a chance to go around nearest jungles, and at one of the nights we have seen a tree full of hundreds fireflies like in a fairytale.
It’s literally felt like HOME stay, as the place is keepen by Melki and his family, so it has nice ambience and very welcoming.
Melki show us some hidden gems that are not on the tourist map, and it was perfect.
The only discomfort we had is that water had a bit of smell in shower, but it’s really hard to make good quality water on island, so we were ok with that.
In general the place feels like inside of the nature, it’s not a fancy resort and it gives you a chance to see the real raja ampat.

We wish good future and lots of visitors to this Home Stay!

  • I stayed 5 nights at Yenros Homestay in februari 2024. I had to wait for almost 2 hours in Waisai. The owner has poor communication skills. I was lucky that volunteers Hunter & Liz were there. They provided me with useful information about the island, snorkeling trips etc.

I really enjoyed the surroundings of the island. I was lucky to see dolphins swimming by in the morning. The food was average, they could bring more variety in it. Although the afternoon snacks were delicious.

I would not recommend staying at Yenros Homestay as a female solo traveler. I didn’t feel safe around the owner. Unfortunately have met 2 other women who have experienced the same.

  • Great stay! Def a good option if you want to visit Gam or the surrounding area.

We got upgraded to the over water bungalow which is the best bungalow on the property, but all bungalows felt well made and spacious. The view from the overwater bungalow is spectacular. Upon check in we saw the walking shark in the water near our bungalow.

Depending on which staff is working, the food quantity and quality will vary. Overall the food was good.

The tours were also really nice, and you can tell that Melki and everyone really cares about the guests. They also care about conservation and the reefs and spend a lot of effort to protect it.

Our favorite part about this homestay were the hosts and the resident cuscus. We never expected to get to see a waigeo spotted cuscus so close and every day! But we got lucky and he was around for the duration of our stay.

The house reef is also nice, but not as good as the snorkel or diving spots you can access pretty easily with the tours or dive centers. We did see turtles and reef sharks at this house reef which was nice.

Overall we highly recommend this homestay and think its a great choice for any traveler heading to Raja!

  • The Yenros Homestay is located on a beautiful little bay with the finest white sandy beach. The area is surrounded by dense jungle. We were very well looked after and advised by Hanky, Liz and Hunter (the latter two are volunteers). The cook always prepared a good meal with the means at her disposal under difficult working conditions. A little more fruit would enhance the rice menus.
Our simple bungalow, which is the only one in the homestay complex with a toilet and shower and a bed frame, met our expectations. Arriving from North Bali, we were amazed at how few mosquitoes there were. As divers, we can recommend the Tarzan diving center, which picked us up by boat at each of our homestays. Yenros always prepared a lunch box for us on request.
Overall, we can highly recommend Yenros.

  • We stayed at Yenros for 3 days. We were very
fortunate to be at Yenros when volunteer hosts Hunter and Liz from the U.S. were there. They went above and beyond to address all the guests requirements including giving up their wonderful over the water hut to us when there was overbooking. We score them 10 out of 10 for being so patient, helpful and friendly. Hanky, the assistant manager was also great in helping organise snorkeling trips. We really enjoyed the communal dining experiences where we could share experiences with other guests. We also enjoyed the delicious afternoon baked treats. The snorkeling trips to Frewin wall were wonderful and reasonably priced.
Yenros could improve in a few areas. There seems to be several booking systems that are not coordinated in one calendar with the result that several guests were unable to have the kind of accommodation they had booked which led to much annoyance from guests.
Secondly, meal sizes were inadequate and sometimes guests had to ask for more food.
Finally, there seems to be no regulations about guests smoking in the dining area and on boats where there’s a danger of fire.

  • We stayed here for three nights.

Surrounded by beautiful nature, full of birds.
Saw cuscus next to our bungalow.

Nice beach, good snorkelling, but difficult/impossible access during low tide.

Tons of moskitos and sandflies, not possible to enjoy the terrace of our bungalow.
Room was basic, but clean. No fan.

    Generator starts running around 6pm.

Hengki showed us the epaulette shark, which was nice. He was generally very helpful and always friendly, not pushing for tours etc. – thank you.
Didn’t see much of his brother, Melki.
Communication with him was rather poor and not really reliable.

The food was basic, but tasty.
No variety though, and hardly any fruit.
Vegetarian needs of fellow travellers were not met.

Raja Ampat in general has a huge garbage problem, and this place is one example, with garbage visible everywhere.
No idea where all the fees of the foreign tourists go, but certainly not into recycling facilities.

No need to pay the Marine Park entry fee of 700.000 IDR if you stay here.
It is ONLY ever asked for if you visit one of the established manta places.

Transportation was overpriced, in general and even compared to other homestays’ prices.

  • We had a great stay at Yenros. Hengky took great care of us and showed us the village and the walking shark. He was always there for questions. We enjoyed the seclusion of Yenros very much, and the afternoon coffee there. Food was good and enough and luckily not many mosquitos there. Good snorkeling at the reef.

  • We stayed as a family for 6 days at Yenros during new Eve period and it was really great. Melki had a hard time in that busy period to accomodate the activities and transfer for all, but despite a shortage of fuel in the wole of Raja Empat he managed well and we could visit Piaynemo, Manta feed point and do the wild bird tour. It was really fantatistic. Also, snorkling from Yenros beach we could see lots and lots of beautiful coral, schools of amazing fishes, turtles, black tip and white tip sharks and even 2 times manta ray (once a black one, once a black and white). We really appreciated the relationship we grew progessively with Melki. Thank you and save Raja Empat!

  • My family and I stayed at Yenros for 5 nights over Christmas 2023 and absolutely LOVED it! Melki and Engki made us feel so welcome and part of the family. We did some great tours – on Christmas Day we went to Pieynemo and beyond! Enjoyed the Walking Shark tour & Red Bird of paradise tour as well. Highly recommend this Homestay.

  • We stayed at Yenros Homestay for 9 nights at the beginning of November in the over water bungalow and had an amazing time. The house reef is beautiful to snorkel with a big variety of coral and fish. Among many others, we saw black tip reef sharks, a stingray and turtles. Even when we weren’t in the water we could observe sea life from our bungalow in the crystal clear water, we especially enjoyed watching the parrot fish swimming around our bungalow. On land, we saw the cuscus several times, a big lizard, a variety of crabs and we could always listen to the birds. Our bungalow was spacious, the mosquito net was in great shape and everything was clean. The food was good and there was always a vegetarian option for us. We enjoyed the afternoon snacks. Either Melki or Hengky were always around. Both speak good English and were very kind and helpful. When one of us got sick, they offered to get medicine or a transport to the hospital in Waisai and kept asking how we were doing. Overall we had wonderful time at Yenros and highly recommend it. Thank you very much!

  • Ótima experiência nesta Homestay.
Cabana com casa de banho muito boa.
Comida ótima, para os padrões habituais destas homestays.
    Família atenciosa.
Fácil de marcar passeios e translados.

  • Great homestay, beautiful beaches and nature! The house reef is beautiful.
Our experience was good particularly because of Hanky who took care of everything there. He helped us organize a bird of paradise trip (bring your binoculars & good camera) which we enjoyed.
There’s lots of wildlife around, others saw a cuscus who is apparently visiting regularly and there are big lizards. Also keep in mind there might be rats around, we saw one but it didn’t do anything. Some other guest however had some holes in their clothes, so make sure to close your luggage.
There are some dogs around and there was occasionally a strong smell of dog pee around our hut but rain usually washed it away.
Food was very basic and not always great but you get an afternoon snack and sometimes chicken (not just fish like in other homestays).
We went diving with Tarzan Dive Center for two days. Make sure to arrange in advance as we almost didn’t get a spot with them when we asked a week in advance.

Overall we really enjoyed the stay and would recommend it for a couple of days in the beginning or end of the trip due to the closeness to Waisai!

  • I had 5 nights at Yenros early November and everything was great. Melki and Hendke were great and took us on some wonderful snorkelling tours, I highly recommend Kabui passage and Friwen wall, the best corals I saw in RA. The house reef is very good and you can also walk through the forest or swim to Batu Lima reef. Close to Wasai for ferry and Melki was very reliable.
My cabin was right on the beach and very comfortable with a raised bed and bathrooms were very clean. Food was comparable with other homestays. So highlights were a good reef and excellent boat snorkelling trips from a lovely beach so close to Wasai. As always in RA I felt safe and looked after by the family as an older solo traveller.

  • We stayed here for 7 nights at the start of October and loved our time here. We were somewhat fortunate to be here at the same time as Hunter and Liz who helped us organise trips when Melki was not present (Melki was often not around while we were there but some of that was bad circumstances that happened while we were there, so hard to say how much he is usually around). The accommodation is fairly standard for the area but was clean, they also provide towels here which other homestays didn’t seem to. The food here was always good, we particularly loved the afternoon snacks. They also serve a savoury breakfast here unlike most other homestays, and the fried rice we had most mornings was awesome. The house reef was amazing and seemed a lot more protected from currents than the other places we went which made it far more accessible at all tides. The homestay is not connected to a village and has essentially two private beaches which makes it very secluded and peaceful. Overall this was our favourite homestay from the trip and can definitely recommend it. One area for improvement would be communication, when we arrived no one told us anything other than where our rooms were, however, this was the case at all the homestays we went to so you are likely to experience this no matter where you go.

  • My partner and I stayed at Yenros for 4 nights in August. Though Melki wasn’t present himself he was still available through Whatsapp and his brother and sister ran the homestay. His friendly sister was a good cook and the food was varied and delicious, with a nice daily snack around 16:00 (the pandan pancakes were amazing). This was the only place with savory breakfast, which my partner was very happy with. Apart from our nice snorkling trip to Friwen Wall didn’t see Melki’s brother much. Sometimes we felt like he didn’t want to be bothered as we asked for the walking shark tour multiple times and he said “later/tomorrow is better” every time, without a proper follow-up. Eventually it didn’t happen anymore but as we saw them before we were ok with that.
The view from the dining area is beautiful and at night we had recurring visits from a cute cuscus. Our cabin on the beach was spacious with a comfortable bed, a good mosquito net and a balcony with a nice hammock. The bathroom floor definitely needs an update, but it was nice to have a shower head.
Melki helped us arrange a bird-watching tour, a great experience. We didn’t do much snorkling around the housereef as the shallow water there was quite murky (windy season) and we went diving instead.
Make sure they wrap up your luggage properly before transportation. On the way to Waisai our luggage + contents got quite wet, while this was the shortest of all our 5 boat rides we had during our stay in Raja Ampat, with similar weather conditions each time.

Accomadation clean and comfortable and meals nice.

  • I stayed twice at Yenros in June of this year. Yenros was a wonderful homestay to start my adventures in Raja Ampat. Yenros which is located on Eastern Gam is about 45 minutes from Waisai, this makes it an ideal starting point for your trip to Raja Ampat.
Melki, the host at Yenros provides you with everything you need. He speaks English very well and will arrange everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. I enjoyed his company very much and we became good friends. Yenros has good house reef right from the beach, you only have to be a bit cautious at low tide as the coral begins in quite shallow water. You can snorkel in both directions and be entranced with the underwater world. At the drop-off you are likely to encounter black tip reef sharks and turtles. Yenros is also very close to the Friwin wall. Melki will be happy to take you on a short boat trip and you can snorkel the entire length of Friwin island and be picked up by boat at the other end of the island. This is highly recommended and is very reasonable cost wise. Melki is accomodating and reliable and will arrange your pickups and transfers from wherever you need to go including being picked up at Waisai.
The huts at Yenros are spacious and the most comfortable that I stayed in of the four islands that I visited in Raja Ampat. The huts face the water and provide beautiful views in a peaceful location.
The food provided at the Yenros is abundant and delicious. It is one of the few places that I stayed at that provides a savory breakfast. This is a welcome relief from sweet donuts and other sweet breakfasts provided at most homestays.
I highly recommend Yenros and I look forward to staying there again on future visits to Raja Ampat.

  • We stayed as a family of 5 ( 3 teenagers) at Yenros. We really loved it. We had a new cabin ( they’re building 3 more next to it on the beach you land on). Then the over water cabin- very large with great sunset views and one on the small beach. Every cabin had their +\-, the overwater one is noisy if there are waves but it’s beautiful as you get the sea breeze, the one on the other beach is nearer the loo, and has a sweet bed, but we really liked them all so it was great to have so many!
Angel is Melki’s sister, she prepares really lovely wholesome good food. We thought she was a great cook, very gentle and quiet, but lovely to have around.
Melki was organised and helpful. He was easy to communicate with on WhatsApp and very accommodating. He organised snorkelling and transfers easily. He took us to his village and fed us fresh coconuts 🥥 🥰.
Take water shoes as there are apparently stonefish in the mangrove you walk through to get to the village – there are also sleeping walking sharks.
We could happily have stayed here much longer and done the packages that the family offered but we had booked a dive lodge.
We would definitely recommend staying at Yenros, it’s like landing in paradise 💗

  • We had a good time, the views were lovely, the corals at our beach were great, and we saw whales which were amazing! Lots of confusion with others staying there about the beach bungalow request, there is only 1, and you don’t pay extra for this bungalow, so it might not be available. We personally didn’t mind at all, the others have a great view too. The food is good too. We recommend stocking up on mosquito spray and be wary of sand mites at the beach ! Common as it’s such a quiet beach, but very irritating if you fancy lying at the beach.

  • We enjoyed our stay at yenros Homestay. We booked a beach Bungalow but IT was booked already when WE arrived that was a Bit a downer at the beginning because WE we’re really looking Forward to IT. Other guests expierencied Something similar. A small compensation was promised but we never received one. Also towels we got only after asking 3 times. For the walking shark tour which is promised we also had to ask for it.. At the moment they are building more beach bungalows.
Food was good But there were Always two choices only. No Tofu or Tempe.
We SAW bryde Wales almost everyday and WE also SAW them while snorkeling, though we had to swim out far in the blue . There are cuscus around and between the Lagoon to the West there is a path were WE spotted parrots, Kakadus und Sometimes hornbills. At night there are Stick animals. Snorkeling is good in front of yenros, the best snorkeling is between biodiversity jetty and Batu Lima. That is around 15 min away by swim or the boat can drop u and u can snorkel back. A path to biodiversity is not too difficult to find, there is one tricky part at the plantation were the paths continues near the forest.
Jon took care of us on site but he is not in charge of the place itself. The owner was there sporadically and helped more in selling tours. The last day he arranged a BBQ for other guests who paid but we were not asked if we would like to join.. a bit akward situation. All together we had a great time.

Jon took care of us on site but he is not in charge of the place itself. The owner was there sporadically and helped more in selling tours. The last day he arranged a BBQ for other guests who paid but we were not asked if we would like to join.. a bit akward situation. All together we had a great time.

  • We stayed for 7 nights at Yenros and had a wonderful time.

    In summary:
    – Fantastic and healthy reef right outside the Homestay. Also very close to Biodiversity Reef which is about 1km away. We got dropped off and snorkeled back to the Homestay a couple of times.
    – The surrounds are stunning, cruising into the Homestay for the first time is a “wow” moment
    – We watched whales swim by our room every morning, that was so special
    – Lots of good trips close by, we did the bird of paradise trip, went to Bat Island, Friwen Wall, saw the walking sharks etc
    – Cabanas have a very nice outlook, some with hammocks. The mattresses/pillows we had were not so great and maybe need updating
    – John (who is taking care of the Homestay) speaks good English, is helpful and very kind. He really took care of us
    – Food is okay, just not a lot of variety. Bring fruit/fresh things, but we never went hungry.
    – Toilets could be improved 🙏🏼
    – Close to Waisai so good for start/end of trip

Overall, we would absolutely recommend Yenros and will come back. Thank you to everyone there who made our trip so memorable.

  • I stayed a week in this magical place. Spectacular house reef, I saw sharks and turtles every day, oceanic manta, devil rays, dolphins, nudis, peacock mantis, gorgeous hard and soft coral and lots of fish.. really healthy and you can easily snorkel for hours in either direction, the current runs along the coast, not out to sea and is never very strong. The family are lovely, especially John who is currently in charge while Melki is away. He speaks great English and is super kind and friendly, always happy to show you the cuscus or take you out on the boat or just chat . The cabañas are lovely and big with comfy beds and hammocks. The food is plentiful and OK, not great.. bring some fruit and veg or snacks if you can, but the place is so beautiful it doesn’t really matter !

  • I stayed 5 days at Yenros and had a great time. Spacious bungalow uphill with bed , hammock and a small beach in front. Snorkeling is great from both the beaches, lots of coral and fish.
As mentioned in all reviews, the food is good with a lot of variety.
Communication was mainly done with John because Melki’s newborn in Wasai. Snorkeling trips to Bat Island & ,Friwen wall andlate night walk to see walking sharks. The short distance to Wasai makes it a perfect spot to start or end a Raja Ampat holiday.

  • We recently stayed at Yenros for 3 nights. The location was stunning, our room overlooked a secluded beach. We also loved the views from the elevated dining room.

Melki and his uncle John speak good English. They organised a hike to view the birds of paradise which was one of the highlights of our trip. John always found the kuskus for us in the trees next to the restaurant most evenings.

Snorkelling every day from both of the beaches was amazing. The meals were varied, plentiful and delicious and we loved the afternoon snack.

The room was comfortable and clean with a good mosquito net.

We would definitely return to Yenros, couldn’t fault the hospitality.

A big thank you to Melki, John and all the lovely ladies in the kitchen.

  • We stayed 5 nights there and enjoyed it really much. Super quiet place, beautiful beach and sea. We used it to go diving with Tarzan Diving and this was a perfect stay for that. Food was also very good. Host is very kind and is helpful for everything. Communication was easy. We totally recommend this Homestay.

  • We stayed 6 nights here, and really enjoyed this homestay. Melke and John, his uncle, took very good care of us. The food was quite good, varied, and plenty. We had banana fritter snacks mid afternoons!
The 360-degree view hilltop dining pavilion is the most beautiful we’ve ever seen. Nice beach too. Our hut was private and nestled in the jungle overlooking the beach with a water view. Real bed, intact net. No generator noise. Excursions were good and we were taken to new spots (for us) which we really enjoyed. Yenros has nice reef but strong swimmers can head left toward Biodiversity less than 1km away for a superb reef.
The only negative were the mosquitos (bring repellant) and long walk to toilet and showers over ironshore which is tricky at night. We think if you stayed in their beach hut, you would avoid most mosquitos and it’s a shorter walk to the toilet.
All in all, a great homestay.

  • The beach bungalow has a very beautifull location – right on the beach (the only one). There is (at high tide) a sandy part wich is good to go for a swim, a bit further out is a reef in pretty good shape. The food was very good, Melki’s sister is doing a good job. Melki has not been around much so communication, even though he speaks good English, did not happen. It would have been nice if he had been in touch a little more and offered us some activities.
During the night the fruitbats, crabs, owls, cicades, frogs and many others sing their songs – nature can be loud 😉

  • This was our first stop in Raja Ampat. Beautiful quiet place, incredible coral, no divers around, just a few other people in the water. We could snorkle for hours without getting bored. The family is super friendly, lots of activities on offer, easy to make appointments for activities as the owner speaks very good English and likes to take guests out. We just had a great time and feel sad we left this gem

  • He has taken great care of us, they gave us extra snacks every day. I was sick and they brought me medicine at no cost. Another day they took us to their village, and the experience was to know a real village (very different from alborek).

The very quiet cabin on the beach, very good memories.

  • The homestay has a beautiful location on a clifftop and faced secluded sparkling bays where it was nice to swim. The view was spectacular. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the hosts were kind and hospitable. It is conveniently located, very close to numerous interesting sites and activities. Melki, the host, suggested and arranged boat trips to Friwen wall and bat island for excellent snorkelling experiences. He also connected us with bird of paradise viewing on a neighbouring island, where we trekked up the forest in the early hours and saw a grand performance by eight birds. He took us to the lagoon at night to look for wandering sharks which we were not able to see, but the experience walking through the seagrasses by moonlight was very special. We had an interesting walk through the neighbouring villages, and then went with Melki’s friend, Otto from Friwen beach to and around his small island to see coconut crabs and what was absolutely the highlight of our trip – viewing dugongs feeding in the seagrass at sunset. The atmosphere was magical and we watched about eight dugongs including a baby moving around and feeding freely.

  • My family (myself, husband, and two daughters) as well as a close friend stayed at the end of December for roughly a week at Yenros. The setting is superb. The two beaches are lovely, and we had the more swimmable beach to ourselves 95% of the time. The house reef is great–we (collectively) saw a sea turtle, a reef shark, a pod of dolphins (multiple times), puffer fish, a sea snake, and thousands of fish and healthy coral.

The accommodations are basic (shared pit toilets and shared cold showers; electricity only from 6pm to midnight every day) but our huts were clean and comfortable. The food was good and plentiful. Melki was incredibly helpful as well. He arranged a Jr PADI for my daughter with another dive center (there is no dive center at Yenros) as well as bird watching (to see birds of paradise) and plenty of snorkeling.

As others have mentioned, Yenros is only about 30 minutes by boat from Waisai, which makes it relatively convenient to get to.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time at Yenros–truly one of the best holidays we have taken in years!

  • My wife and i stayed for 8 days at Yenros and had an amazing time! The location is great, two beautiful white sandy beaches, an epic house reef (we saw dolphins, cuttlefish, octopus, walking shark) the family is super kind and the food is basic but filling. Please dont come expecting western service or facilities. It was everything we expected it to me and we had a great time!

  • We’ve spend 7 nights at Yenros Homestay. Wish i’ve could have spend many more. If you are looking for a quite place surounded by superb unspoiled nature, a excelent housereef for snorkeling, Birds of paradise, parrots , kingfishers.. close by.. Look no further. Our cabin was spaceious and clean with a good double bed with muskito net. There was a porch with a magnificant view of the beach. And there are showers and toilets in a separate block , 20m or so away from our cabin. The meals were always tasty and concisted mostly of rice or noodles with fish , chicken or tempeh. (one day we’ caught a big tuna to eat) Cold water and coffee is available during the day; ANd in the afternoon there are cookies !! Melki who runs the place speaks english very well. He is also very knowledgable of the suroundings and the uderwater world; And is always ready to have a friendly chat. We did the day tour as promised in the package, and even got to swap some things, because we like snorkeling so much .. The extra day trips we did were all very well organised, with a meal and snacks.. Oh and before I forget.. They have a cuscus visting the dining room in the evening .. So if you like the the genuine experience , away from other homestays, and humming generators.. This is the place to go.. I give it 5 stars without any hesitation

Rindu!

  • We stayed at Yenros Homestay for 5 days in April 2022.
Really nice place to stay and one of the few places with an actual beach to relax when not snorkeling around. House reef is great, we saw turtles, squids, nemo-fish, moray eels, small manta rays, dolphins and so many fish.
The bungalows are new, big and comfortable with a hammock and a nice view over the water.
The Yenros family is really welcoming and helpful. Melki took us to see walking sharks nearby, spotted us a cuscus in a tree nearby the dinner area (he said he could smell them from a distance) and did a lot to help us find a dugong, which we unfortunately couldn’t find.
Food was good and it was very nice with the afternoon snack for tea. The view from the dinner platform was amazing.
A very nice place to stay

  • Lovely place and helpfull owner, they are building new bungalows in land in front of a wonderful beach and sea. From this homestat you can do a lot of Excursions. Near a village but you can reach only by boat. Thanks to Boyalexofias to reccomend us!

  • We spent the last few days here before we leave R4. It was a perfect choose : Waisai is very close so we could prepare to the morning ferry in chill .Melki’s place is amazing from the sandy beach to the jungle bungalows. The place where they served the food… I have no words for that. The view is unforgettable. Morning time you can see the dolphins while you having your breakfast.

Reef for snorkeling : 5* (ray, turtle, shark, good corals)
Bungalows : 4,5* (you can wake up for the jungle sound)
Food : 4,5* (delicious and large portions)
    Welcoming and staff : 5*
Programs: 5* (Melki does what you want, hi is a reliable guy)
    Price:5*

I want to say a big thanks, and I also very thankful for Melki and his family that they took care of my Wife who was in poorly condition and they was ready to go to the hospital (in every minute) even it was church time. Thank you, I will not forget it. Thanks too for bringing us to the harbor and show the place to buy ticket. I hope we will meet again in this life 🙂 Br. George, Peter, Lilla, Detty, Detti, Gergő, Frank, Zoli.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Yenros. We were there for 5 days and I recommend it as a an excellent place to embrace Raja Ampat experience. It’s a quiet place with a lovely beach. Both bungalows we lived in were clean and simple in a very nice way. There were no rats or cocrouches . Melki and his family took a good care of us. We felt welcomed! The food was good, with a variety of different things. We loved small afternoon snacks for coffee-time. Melki took us on several trips. We hope to return one day!

  • 5 star homestay!

My husband and I stayed at this homestay for 4 nights last december. This place is really amazing! We are looking to go back next year.

We had a really warm welcome from Melki with all the information about our stay and the surroundings. The rest of the family is also very friendly and everybody works hard to keep the place clean and beautiful.

The beach is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen and we travelled a lot and seen many beaches already. The house reef is amazing with healthy coral, lots of fishes, sharks and even turtles. We saw dolphins in the distance.

The bungalow was clean and really nice, close to the bathroom and close to the beach. We had a matras on the floor with a good mosquito net and a small terras. There is nothing more you need in this paradise. If you want luxury you should go to an (expensive) resort. Good price quality at this homestay!

We heard the cuscus and saw lots of parrots and other birds who woke us up every morning.

The food is very good and there is a variety of things, so not the same everyday. The afternoon snack is a real treat, loved it! The terras where you eat is on top of a rock with amazing view over the clear ocean. In this “restaurant” you will find some books to read (Melki calls it his little library) and also information about sealife and the trips you can make.

We did several snorkeltrips with either Melki or his brothers. I felt very safe because they first check the current before they let you go into the water. The boat is always nearby. We also went on a trip to look for manta’s but unfortunately didn’t see them, but that’s nature right (just like the jellyfish and the insects you may encouter in these waters and jungle).

Go here when you are not into mass tourism, feel like Robinson Cruiso on a private beach with waters which are cristal clear. Best place to be on Gam!

  • I wasnt happy at all, first 1-2 days we got very good food, this was better after we complained. Matress on the floor, moskitonett with so many holes. Rats in the bungalow.
Worst thing was, that twice we agreed with Melki to go for a boat trip and he didnt show up… we were waiting for him all day and than he hardly said sorry, he was looking like he was drinking all night and forgot about his guests… twice.
Snorkeling around is nice, but when staying longer tam 1-2 nights and he is not taking you anywhere else this place become boring.
    Not recomended

  • We stayed for 2 nights at Yenros before moving to Kri for diving.

It was a fantastic stay at Yenros, the room we got was brand new, perched amidst the jungle, a few metres above sea level with the perfect ocean view from the balcony. The bed was nice and the room had enough space to keep stuff. The shared toilet was clean, the food was tasty and had sufficient portions for guests.

Melki speaks good English and helped us use his mobile internet to communicate with other homestays. He also provided good quality snorkel equipment for us to be able to snorkel the house reef and join a boat trip with him to Friwen wall, batu lima and bat island.

Wish him and his family all the best

  • We stayed for 2 nights at Yenros before moving to Kri for diving.

It was a fantastic stay at Yenros, the room we got was brand new, perched amidst the jungle, a few metres above sea level with the perfect ocean view from the balcony. The bed was nice and the room had enough space to keep stuff. The shared toilet was clean, the food was tasty and had sufficient portions for guests.

  • We stayed by Melki two nights,by recommendation of friend below. We were sharing bungalow with another girl who we met while travelling and Melki agreed for discount, while sharing a room.
The room was horrible with full of rats and cocoroaches, we also haven’t recieved new sheets and new towels, when we requested them, they brought us stinky towels.
The story regarding not taking 6 people to a trip, you can read in the comment bellow. The food was also not good, undercooked chicken, which can give you salmonella, bad tasting fish etc.
I guess the homestay went really down from last year.
Better search for some other guest house,if you wish to see something or experience nice indonesian family.
The only positive was room from our friends with good view from veranda and main veranda. Everything else is catastrophic.

    • Hi teja thanks for you feedback. • We came back to Yenros because we had a lovely stay there last year. We brought 3 friends with us.
Unfortunately things have changed at Yenros. Melki the owner promised to take us on an outing . Other guests were coming too. He never showed up.
One guest had been at Yenros for 4 days and had been unablecto do any activities because Melki was absent or promising an activity and then disappear ing.
Our friends were sharing a bungalow which was full of rats and crawling with cockroaches. They couldn’t sleep. They also had dirty towels and blankets given to them. They told Melki they wanted a discount and he agreed but the next morning he became aggressive.
Prior to that he had promised other guests a bird watching tour and the guide didn’t turn up. Melki was absent for most of our visit so we couldn’t ask him for other activities.
We told Melki we would leave early. We had to arrange our own transport to leave the island. We received no help with this or the luggage.
The food also was not like last year. No fruit. Tasteless undercooked chicken, horrible tasting fish.
We did have a really nice new bungalow on the hill.
Maybe Melki is tired and needs to hire someone to run the activities?
They are also throwing bags of rubbish behind the top bungalow so soon there will be rats there too.

  • Duration: 6 nights in November

Accomodation: We stayed in bungalow number 5, which is the nicest of them we would say. There’s balcony with two chairs and table. Inside full size bed, which was nice. Toilets and bathroom were located about 50m from the bungalow. Great private beach.

Hospitality: Thats the whole reason why we rate this place 2 stars. We felt the whole time unwelcome there. Melki wasn’t really interested to do any trips. When we visited Friwen wall, which was our first trip in Yenros, my girlfriend told Melki that she doesn’t feel very comfortable in the water and she might want to come out after 5 minutes. He told okey. We went in to the water and we were there for maybe 20 seconds when we see that the boat rides away and leaves us there totally alone. My girlfriend freaked out and panicked, thank god that there were a jetty to climb on to. We waited on the jetty for about 15-30 minutes when Melki decided to come back from the village. We told him that its not okey to drive away like that. This wasn’t a good start for our stay. Besides that Melki was always on his phone and we felt that we were more a burden than welcomed guests. Also Melki didn’t communicate to us when he will be available to do trips or when he is not there. We always had to look for him and ask things. Sometimes he was just disappeared the whole day and night and as he is the only one who talks english, then thats not okey. As most of the reviews talk how warm and welcoming Melki and the family is, we were kind of stunned if they are talking about the same family?!

Location: Really nice location just 20-30m from Waisai. It has two beaches. Dining area is on the top of the rock with a stunning view over the small bay. There’s also very rich and beautiful reef to snorkel.

Trips: We had several trips. 1) Friwen wall, Batu Lima and Hidden Lake – wasn’t so interesting, Hidden Lake you can see from the jungle. Just a lake. 2) Kri Island and Pasir Timbru sandbank – that was nice trip, saw a reefshark and sea turtles. Melki came into water with us and showed interesting things. 3) Kabui Passage – that was also nice trip, 50K for each person to visit a lookout point in Kabui Passage to see the great view from top. We also did a trip on our own to lagoon, which is behind Yenros. Small road goes behind the bathrooms – about 5 minute walk. On low tide you can see there sea cucumbers, blue corals, seastars and jumpy fishes who we tought are walking sharks, but seems that they aren’t.

Food: We got feed well:). 3 times a day, plus afternoon snack. Good surprise was that they served salty breakfast. Bananas were available every day whole day. Good simple homey food.

    • Hi mard & kadi first of all I want say thank you for give me 2 stars because of tour to friwen wall and communicated but I want to told you that snorkling in friwen wall we alway drop the guest and we weit in the part of west if low tide and if hight tide we drop them in west and weit or pick up them in east. So I thougth you were misunderstand when I explain it how to do snorkling in friwen wall. Thank you very much😊🙏

  • If you are looking for a Homestay that has it all (great food, reef, pricing, host) , save yourself the research time and just book here…..

I spent 3 months looking over every Homestay I could find, reading every review and weighing all of the pros and cons for each. We landed on 2 Homestays, Yenros being the first.

It’s close location to waisai is a great perk for quick pickup and being close to the exit in case of emergency. While most house reefs are great, this one is a cut above. It has two beaches, Which means multiple entry points during low tide, so you can hop in anytime of day safely and ride the current in either direction… Something not all Homestays have. The quality of the reef is absolutely superb. Excellent drop-off, wide range of corals and fish. Excellent lighting morning and evening. Truly all you could ask for. Awesome sunrises and sunsets here as well.
They have a nice boat that can fit 6-8 people, plus gear comfortably. Very reasonable trip prices and An extensive knowledge of the area. Theres a wide range of options to visit because of their excellent location. They have a menu of options and trips so pricing is clear and there is no misunderstanding of where all you are going.
I love food and knew coming to Raja meant I would be leaving alot of my favorite things to eat behind. many Homestays have bad reviews because of their cooking, but not this one. I was releived to find Yenros house has awesome food! They mix things up, always have enough, great spices and flavors. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner are always prepared with love and delivered at the time promised. Paired with the stellar views from the dining area every meal is a treat.

The host family is WONDERFUL, Melki (your point of contact here) speaks clear English, is patient, kind, friendly, smart and open to teaching you about his culture and family. We have always felt VERY safe here and looked after. The property is private and in its own little corner of the land.

Melki, the family and this property have knocked the Raja Ampat experience out of the park!!! Which is hard to do considering the high expectations we came with. We loved it here so much we cancelled our other booking and extended our stay by an extra week.

After two weeks living here with the family I really can’t say enough good things. I absolutely loved this place and it feels like home now. We find ourselves missing Yenros on a daily basis.

I’ve traveled the world and met many wonderful people… But none quite like Melki. I’ve never met a host who cares so much about his guests experience in Raja Ampat. He is the Raja of Hosts!!! 🙂

If you have any questions about the Homestay or the tours they offer and our experience on them feel free to ask by replying to this review. We did every one of them at least once, except wayag.

  • We had great time ! Lovely food, a lot of fish and also cakes during afternoon. Mercui was not there, but his family and collaborators were so kind and helpful.
There is wonderful reef just in front of the homestay and we had great snorkelling! There is also cus cus feeding in the trees above our heads. We saw lizards, coloured parrots and other beautiful birds. During the early hours of the night we heard big bats flying among the trees. We slepts and wake up with birds singing around!
There is also a lagoon in the back of the homestay where we saw seastars, a little seasnake and bleu corals when there was low tide.
This is a perfect place to stay in Raja Ampat!
Could i suggest to provide for one double canoa? Going around it would be amazing!
Only a question: was the laundry detergent you use biodegradable? could you buy it?
It’s important to preserve this wonderful place!

  • My partner Sriram and I stayed at Yenros for about a week in September 2019 and it was simply magical, one of the most memorable times of our lives.

As others have said, the location is spectacular — close to many world-class snorkling sites including being just around the corner from Friwen wall and close to Yenbuba Jetty, Kri, and other gorgeous places such as Pasir Timbul sandbank. It has the added benefit that there are also jungle and village nearby which one can explore. So there is a huge range of things to do and see. The food is excellent — by far the best we had at any Indonesian homestay or hostal. And the food was very ample, which is unfortunately not the case at many other homestays. And the cabins are clean, and have great views — especially cabin number 5, which has a spectacular, private view of the water and luscious breeze. We did not have any problems with rodents or other wildlife in that cabin. And we did see a lot of wildlife at the homestay itself — Cus Cus, very large lizards (several feet long!), a bird of paradise, and many many lovely song birds.

But what makes Yenros even more of a gem is the people — Melki and his family — who run it. They truly treat you as a member of the family and take care of their guests as their own. When we arrived in Yenros, my husband was already getting sick, and he proceeded to get very ill (with a 103 degree F temperature). Melki made himself completely available to us during those uncertain days when we were watching his health, lending us his phone to make long distance calls to doctors and the like. And when we determined that we needed to take him back to town to go to hospital, he helped us immediately, no questions asked. And he didn’t just drop us off, he escorted us the whole way: contracting a car for us, taking us to the hospital, helping translate where needed, helping us get the medicines and helping us find lodging for the night. He even offered to stay over night in town until my husband got better, in case we needed help. I cannot say how helpful this was to us, nor what a relief. It was very scary having to navigate a foreign healthcare system and language in a very remote place in an emergency situation, but having Melki was like having a family member there to watch out for us. He was fabulous and we are so deeply grateful for all of his help.

It is the kind of attention and quality that you will receive at Yenros that will make your stay truly exceptional. While we were there, there was one other couple who had been at Yenros for a few days, gone elsewhere, and immediately changed their plans to come right back — because Yenros was so superior to the other place.

You would be extremely lucky to stay with Melki and family in this paradise, home away from home!

  • Spent 8 stunning days at Yenros. Had another homestay booked for after a sail trip and these folks changed my mind! The dining area is elevated with breathtaking views, the bungalows perfectly in the shade, the bathroom and showers clean and conveniently located. The house reef is just mind blowing with a great drop off and tons of fish and corals. Food was outstanding and plentiful and yes the banana fritters were a welcome sight after a busy morning. Melki is super helpful and very fair in pricing day trips we actually made up after doing all the regular ones. His family is lovely and I surely do miss them. Thanks for the great hospitality Melki and tell your Mom I did get the beautiful gift she gave me home to the States and it is in a treasured spot in my home!! Love to all!

Food simple and next level…greens my fave…..but fresh fish a big winner everytime. Can stay here and book in to Dive spot accorss water….or just chill…loved it

  • We spent really lovely 10 days in Yenros. It was our favourite of three homestays we visited during our trip to Raja Ampat.
The bungalows are very well made with solid mosquito nets and comfortable verandas.
We loved the dining area where you can admire the beautiful view of the sea, while having a tea or while waiting for the food. Speaking of food – it’s the best we’ve had on the islands. Large portions of fresh fish usually twice a day with rice and lots of vegetables. You literally don’t have a chance to even get a tiny bit hungry over there (we did in other homestays).
Also worth a mention are fried bananas that are served as an afternoon snack – they’re to die for, even after ten days we couldn’t get enough of them.
You are surrounded by lots of wildlife with birds passing by all the time (we have seen lots of parrots and eagles), monitor lizards crossing your path, cuscuses feeding on trees around bungalows (we have even seen two of them fighting!). The house reef is amazing! We snorkelled every day starting from the bigger beach and saw sharks and turtles almost daily. There’s a very accessible reef drop off where they all swim by. During the low tide we could also see a young walking shark in the shallow water that you can approach very closely without it getting scared. Also, thousands of fish, stingrays, eagle rays, starfish, giant clams.. Everything just a few meters away.
Make sure to snorkel in Friwen Wall, the coral there is the healthiest and the most variable we’ve ever seen!
Yenros is a great basis for tours – we did Piaynemo, Kabui Bay, Batu Lima, Arborek, Yenbuba Jetty and Kri – all very recommended and well organised.
And last, but not least, the family running the homestay is very caring and welcoming. We miss them all a lot already! And hope to be back as soon as possible.

Thanks Melki and your family, we loved staying at your place!

  • Hello! Are the prices listed for the various tours for ALL of the sites listed in each row (a multi-stop day) or for EACH of those sites?

For example the trip below: is that 500,000 for all those places or just for Friwen Wall, for example?

Friwen Wall, Batu Lima and Hidden Lake Up to 4: 500,000

    Thanks!

Friwen Wall, Batu Lima and Hidden Lake Up to 4: 500,000

    Thanks!

  • Its not very clear from the photos but are there unobstructed views from the verandahs of the rooms to the beach, are the trees blocking the views?

    Thanks

    • Hello John.

This image is a few years old, but it’s a fairly representative view. (You can see from the main image above that there is at least one bungalow that has a much clearer view than this one does.)

  • I spent a week in total with Melki and his family. This place is a paradise.

The bungalows are clean so are the washrooms, which I cannot say about the other homestays I’ve stayed at. The shower floor had white coral debris compared to black coral debris at the other homestays I’ve been to. The food was delicious. Mama Melli, Cela and Nella proved their cooking skills by serving various dishes ranging from fried fish with sweet garlic sauce to steamed fish, cooked wild pig and always fresh vegetables such was water cress, sweet potatoes, carrots, cale and other local veggies. There was also papaya and bananas. In the afternoon there is sweet snacks including warm cake or fried bananas. Coffee and tee is always available.
One day I went to Wasai with the family to get fishing gear and explore the fruit market. Josh and I went to get gas from Yenbeser village and ventured out to fish for tuna and tangiri. We went spear fishing at night with a torch at the housereef and had an excellent BBQ.

if you want to be mindful, be aware that there is no waste disposal in Rajampat. Plastic is thrown in the ocean or burned. So if you bring or buy plastic, take it back to your country or burn it at the homestay. I left my stainless steel water bottle there because the local freshwater comes only in 4gallons or in 0.2l plastic cups which are sealed with plastic foil. You drink the fresh water with a plastic straw that is also sealed with plastic foil which deteriorates the environmental pollution even further. I didn’t know whom to give my reusable metal drinking bottle because everyone wanted it. Next time, I will bring more! I also bought a 12gb simcard (simpati) in Sorong for 150.000 IDR and gave everyone a hotspot so the kids could download Duolingo and learn English with me ( thank you for teaching me Indonesian and Papuan!).

At Yenros, there is full reception and 4G. I donated my mask and snorkel to the homestay since a lot of children there don’t have one although the ocean is part of their everyday life. We collected plastic and burned it at the beach. Unfortunately, that’s the only way to get rid of it.

On the last day the family threw a farewell beach party for me with a huge campfire. We had speakers and danced. I have a family in West Papua now. Thank you, Mama Melki, Cela, Nella, Theaa, Melki, Joshua, Yulens, Mika, Noel, Fian and all others for your hospitality and kindness. I have only experienced this warm-heartedness in a very few places in the world. I will definitely come back.

  • We spent five nights at Yensor, then went back for another three! The homestay is a great all round experience. It was school holidays while we were there and we loved the happy atmosphere with the children laughing and playing, even as they did their chores. No question that the food was by far the best we had across the six homestays we stayed in – Sella is a gifted cook. The reef was great for snorkeling, with coral in good condition and lots of fish including big fish, especially directly out the middle from the beach, and daily sightings of turtles and sharks. Highly recommend going to Secret Lake with Melki! It was one of our highlight experiences with gorgeous scenery along the way and lovely birdlife over the lake itself.

  • We stayed in Yenros Homestay for only 2 nights and I regret that it was not longer stay. We were blessed with nice weather and quiet place to stay. Yenros homestay has best house coral reef as it was promised in all previous reviews ! we saw shark, turtles and millions of other fish along with beautiful corals. Freewen Wall was just around the corner. If you are looking for relaxing time with corals nearby than place is for you. We did not experienced any meeting with rats but have seen poison spreads around bungalows and inside. Indeed, we have turned on our flashilights all nights (yes, we had some extra batteries) and all our dry smoked sausages and other food we had were not touched by any night visitors.
The owner of Yenros Homestay is very quiet (shy?) man but he speak not bad English and easy going person for negotiation regarding sightseeing or snorkeling tours/prices. The food was ok with some great baked bananas we liked very much.
Melky, I hope you remember our conversation regarding creating big tours list ! ))) Good luck to you ! we are sending hello from New York

  • Cant recommend Yenros Homestay.

    Unfair Melki´s acting.

if you want to see bird of paradise never join Melki !!!
he will not help you to see some of them, just take a big amount of money from you for bad tour service!!!

    • Hello Zdenek I thought that there is a quide birds of paradise and the price is including boat cash. If you go to see the birds untill not find them don’t blame me because that is animals we can not call them to came close. If the birds tame we can call them come. Thank you for you comment

  • We were supposed to stay one week there in February, but we ended up staying two.
The place has one of the most beautiful settings in Raja Ampat: beautiful private beach with hammocks and lounging chairs, nice deck where food is served and where you can spend lazy afternoons sipping coffee and tea and enjoying amazing views. We spotted hunting eagle from the deck as well as a whale and some turtles and sharks. Birding is good there too if you bring binoculars.

The bungalows are very nice: mattress with good clean sheets, towels (!), mosquito net, table, plenty of room to hang your clothes and nice veranda where to relax. Toilet is clean and there is dip mandi bathroom and shower! (There are fireflies near the toilet in the night time. Beautiful.)

The reef is one healthiest in Dampier Strait area. It offers plenty to see every day. The reef stretches out all the way to Batu Lima, so it offers hours of snorkeling. You can walk to other nearby beaches from the homestay and snorkel from there. We saw lots of turtles, different fish, nudis, corals, sharks etc.

Food is absolutely the best there is in Raja Ampat! It is mainly fish, veggies and rice, sometimes eggs and chicken and some kind of pastry in the morning. The yellow curry is to die for! So good! And banana fritters were the best we have ever tasted. Pure love on a plate <3 There is always plenty of fresh drinking water and tea and coffee available. And we even got some fruit on most days.

There is a super cute doggie living in the homestay that was our loyal companion while we were there. She has very special personality and is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. (And I have met thousands.)
We called her "Koissu" (means doggie in Finnish) and we taught her to sit and stay with treats. She is very friendly and playful personality and if you treat her well, she will be great company. Just do not feed her near dining area so that she will not become bad behaving dog. "Koissu" offered one of the best memories during our time there and we miss her very much.

I highly recommend Yenros homestay <3

  • We stayed 3 nights at Yenros in January 2019.

Food was really good and varied, and meals were accompanied by a nightly visit from a cuscus coming down to get bananas. The deck next to the dining area was a great place to sit and sip a coffee while enjoying the view over the bay.

    Housereef was very nice!
Toilets and showers were clean, and bungalows too, but there were no table or chairs on the verandas which was a big shame. The bungalows do look a bit shabby from the outside, like the place has been deserted, but some tables and chairs on the decks would definitely help!

We went to Friwen Wall which is gorgeous, and on a trip to the nearby Alfred Wallace camp sailing down the Dore Mkun inlet which was such a beautiful experience!
Melki was a great hosts and speaks excellent English, and his family were extremely welcoming and sweet.

    Thank you, Yenros!

  • Pros:

    – outstanding housereef !!! great for snorkeling. even other travelers at other places speak of it.
    – cheap
    – entrance to the jungle
    – nice sandy beach
    – nice terasse for view and eating
    – a cuscus visits the terasse
    – Melki really takes great care of the guests
    – tours to piyanemo, manta sandy and other places

    Cons:

    – only Melki speaks english
    – basic rooms
    – no on site divecenter (but they can arrange a personal diveguide and equippment. we didn’t dive with them though..)

    Conclusion:

an awesome place for snorkeling !!
we stayed for 4 nights. the housereef is amazing. you can see everything from sharks, over turtles, stingrays, colorfull never ending coralreefs, huge swarms of small and big fish
we even had a really long photosession with a not shy cuttlefish.
the visibilitie can be bad, but when snorkeling before noon between 9 and 12 it was always really great
also they offer to guide you through the jungle which can be cool

they just built new showers and enhance the terasse. i think they will make this place better and better.

can recommend this place as long as you keep in mind for what you are going there !!

  • We stayed 4 nights at Yenros from 7th to 10th January, 2019.
We really enjoyed our time there. Melki and his family are very friendly and love to joke. They were very accommodating of our request for firmer and bigger mattresses. Also for chairs to sit on on our verandah. However whilst the mattresses were better they were still quite soft and better quality mattresses would make a big improvement.
The food was plentiful, delicious, varied and well presented. We had lovely fresh fish cooked in different ways, vegetables, fresh fruit, cakes, fried rice and noodles. There were lovely little green cakes with chocolate on top.
The reef at both beaches is high quantity with different types of colourful coral , many fish , turtles, rays with blue spots and sharks.
There is a nightly visit by a spotted cucus, monitor lizards, fire flies, geckos.
The rooms are basic with a mattress on the floor and a table. More furniture would be better such as a bed frame, a table and chairs on the verandah.
Friwen wall is 6 minutes by boat, Red BOP viewing is by boat and then a steep 30 minutes walk.
Thankyou Melki and family we really enjoyed our stay and want to come back.
Finally we really enjoyed Melki’s nephew’s and niece’s company. They are well mannered , beautiful children

    Hi,
I forgot to say that the deck on the hill where meals are served is a great feature. Here you can hang out in the cool shade of the deck, do dry snorkeling as in watch all the sea life from above through the crystal clear waters. It is large and spacious with room to lie on mats , do yoga or just admire the beautiful view. There always seemed to be a nice breeze and you could watch small birds flitting about, the cucus at night and monitor lizards and butterflies.

  • Dear melki, kevin, kids and women cooking the incredible food:
Many thanks for a memorable stay.

Huts are very nice and bathroom has a proper shower even. There are two beaches and it is possible to walk down to batu lima (right side when you face the main beach). Probably also possible to walk to the left. Beach has sun till about midday. The corals are good (turtle trevally, sweetlip, shark,…), but there are some crown of thorns. So lets hope they disappear again.

Melki speaks very good english and was in a bit of a party mode when we were there. Kevin took great care of us. Calm but incredibly friendly and reliable guy.
We did a trip to the caves and passage, which was realy cool.

One of the best things is the deck on top of the hill. Thanks Kees for sponsoring! Thanks to its location there is always a fresh breeze and zero mosquitos. Every night, the kuskus came around and stole some bananas and other fruits, sweet.. 😉

  • The place is really amazing, bungalows are minimal, very clean and well done. Melki and his family are friendly. The food is really great and varied. The house reef in front of the beach has much hard coral in good conditions. I really recommend staying here if you go to Gam island.

    – they charged to much for snorkelling at the friwin wall, but since we came to do that to this place we could not say no!

  • We stayed 5 nights at Yenros. Like every homestay things are basic. But the food here is good. The restaurant is a the top of a hill. Two nice beaches and and a superb housereef. We saw a sea turtle twice and many sharks. Melki speaks good English. We did one trip to Kabuy Bay which was very pleasant. A spectacular viewpoint and a few beautiful snorkelling spots. The snorkelling in a cave was a real surprise!
    Yenros, highly recommended!

We spent a lot of time snorkelling the amazing house reef and saw lots of sharks and turtles. We also saw the cuscus in the trees at night time – very cute!
I highly recommend staying at Melki’s Homestay, it’s wonderful.
    Thank you melki!

  • We spent 3 beautiful days at the end of September in this amazing homestay. We were supposed to stay just for one night and then move to other islands to see more, but the place was to beautiful that we decided to spend our last days of vacation there. Melki is a wonderful host, he speaks perfect english and it’s a pleasure to chat with him. His family is so nice as well! He arranged for us 2 beautiful trips, one to Pianemo and the other one to Arborek, the sand banks and other amazing spots. The reef in front of the homestay is just perfect for snorkeling, you can even do it in the first hours in the morning or at any time during the day, it’s amazing. Many corals, small sharks, any kind of different fish you can wonder just in front of the beach. If you decide to go to Yenrose, you will live a dream.
Thank you Melki and family, hope to come back soon.

  • Yenros was the first of the four homestays we’d booked in Raja Ampat, so we had no real idea what to expect. However it was fabulous! The rooms and bathroom block are basic but clean, the views and snorkelling were magnificent (especially enjoyed drifting with the slow current from one bay to the next around the point), and … the food! Plentiful, tasty and varied. Lots of fish meals of course, but cooked many different ways and with a variety of vegetables and fruit. Loved the banana fritters for afternoon tea.
The bird watchers in our small group were amply rewarded with both Red and Wilson’s bird of paradise sightings. Melki organised these excursions, plus others to Friwen Beach and Friwen Wall (fabulous snorkelling), and a visit around to the nearby village of Yenbeser. On the last night of our 4 night stay we saw several walking sharks in the estuary behind the homestay.
A couple of suggestions for improvement, Melki: a pricelist of the excursions would be a handy thing to show guests, so that everything is clear. We never felt we were being over-charged, but we did find that sometimes things weren’t entirely clear as to what was included. And the trip over to see Wilson’s bird of paradise could have been better organised – if we’d known car transport was available ahead of time, we probably would have booked it.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Melki’s family were lovely and did I mention the delicious food??

  • If you are looking for a Homestay with cozy bungalows, a magnificent housereef, great food and the loveliest people who run this Homestay…this is the best choice you can make while staying in Raja Ampat!

  • We were staying at Melki’s place for 8 days and 7 nights, which wasn’t enough. We loved every second of staying at his amazing homestay.
His sister and his aunt are preparing delicious food for you, the fried banana was the best one we had on our 4 months of travelling around Indonesia The cake in the afternoon was amazing too.
Melki’s English is just perfect and he is happy to show you around Raja Ampat and takes you to the most beautiful places in the area while explaining a lot about Papua and Raja Ampat.
Our trips and adventures with Melki were always perfectly organised and a lot of fun, he even took us on a night snorkeling adventure at the housereef.
The snorkeling at the housereef is amazing, we saw a lot of turtles, fish and sharks and the corals are really healthy.
We are already looking forward to coming back and staying at Melki’s place again – seriously guys, there is no better place than Yenros Homestay!

Thank you so much Melki and family to making our stay memorable!!

  • We stayed at Yenros for 4 nights and we loved every second of it. Melki and his family are incredible nice hosts. The food was also very good. Fresh fish, vegetables, the best fried bananas we ever had, cake in the afternoon and he even climbed on a palm to get a fresh coconut for us.
I can also recommend the trips with Melki. His English is perfect and he knows everything about Raja Ampat. He will do everything to make you feel like home.

So far it was the best homestay in Raja Ampat we stayed at. I can really recommend it!

Thank you Melki and your family for this amazing time. We will definitely come back.

    Greetings,
    Miriam and Enis

  • Can’t say better that previous comments. We were 3 people, and had a very nice stay in Yenros : good and plenty food (mostly fish, with various cooking), very simple but clean accomodations (don’t expect any luxury), quiet atmosphere, amazing snorkelling spot just in front of the stay. Melki and his family were very available, bringing us to the best spot and must-see, by boat. Thank you again.

    • Hi Alex thanks for Good news from you when I readed your review I told my family here and day verry proud of your good comment for them. My brother said that we hope you always helth and happy in there it’s mind you all the best for you there. Thank you so much again. Regard and respect?

  • We spent 4 days 3 nights at Yenros, and we loved it. Meki was a great host, super responsive before pick up (which was from Kri island by the way), and very helpful in planning our day tours. We went birdwatching with them, which was one of the best close-to-nature experiences in my life. The trip to Kabui bay was also fantastic. It seemed it was just the three of us as tourists in the whole bay at the time. Make sure to stop by at the hidden lake that Mel I knows of on the way in. Food was also great and plenty. They even provided some snacks and afternoon tea between main courses when we were around. The house reef is also magical, I liked it just as much as the ones in Kri. The fact that there’s not many other homestays around, makes it very peaceful and relaxing. Keep up the good service Melki! 🙂

  • I stayed in Yenros for 5 nights as a female solo traveller, and I enjoyed every single moments.

I asked to Melki what happened with the last review (not recommending female solo traveller to this place) and he replied that all he did was asking whether she is married. Also mentioned that in Papua, asking this type of question is very normal. Personally, I grew up in Asia and have been living in Europe for half decade and I understand that these questions can be perceived differently depending on culture. In many Asian countries, this type of question is a sign of friendly interest, also an effort to be connected with the other person regardless of the person’s gender. But I also understand that as a female solo traveller, personal questions can be considered bit intimidating sometimes.

But anyhow, I didn’t experience any discomfort related to those matters while staying there and I made lots of great memories. And I recommend this place to somebody travelling alone because there are lots of little stuff you can do while staying there, without going too far away by boat, which cost a lot if you are alone.

I saw a shark, rays, turtles by just snorkelling around 15m away from the homestay. And there are 2 small beaches so you can kinda enjoy one of them as your private beach from time to time. It doesn’t get too hot even in the middle of the day, so I spent long time just lying in hammock, listening music (good internet connection with SIM) enjoying little breezes.

Facilities are basic but very clean and well maintained. They run electricity bit longer than other homestay, from 6 pm to midnight. I enjoyed every single food I had, especially fresh fried banana they served as a breakfast was the best one I’ve ever had in Indonesia.

Last, Melki’s family is very welcoming and friendly. Most of the time staying there, I felt like I am really well taken care of. I would love to go back there later with my families.

    • Thank you tea for your good explain for another solo traveler I am proud of you.again thank you see you next time.

    • With all due respect, the previous female solo traveller has lived in Asia for many years and would not have left the island early & made a complaint if it were just merely asking if they were married or not. Obviously this is what the owner will respond with. There was a lot more to the complaint, such as posting a photo of the traveller without permission alongside abusive comments on his social media, topics of conversation that should not have been insisted upon & unwanted attention in other ways. Please only review your own experience rather than attempt to explain a previous traveller’s experience. Thanks

  • I stayed 5 nights and although I appreciate there were positive aspects of the homestay, I would not personally recommend this provider to other SOLO FEMALE travellers. Melki informed me that I was their first female visitor to stay there alone and this fact became very apparent to me as the days went on. I felt harassed by the persistent asking of the same very personal questions each day. I felt uncomfortable with a particular topic of conversation Melki tried to have with me, one which I deemed completely inappropriate between a host and his guest. There was also a lack of transparency about the cost of a trip I was offered. Melki offered the trip as part of my stay there with instruction to bring 50,000 for lunch. We didn’t actually do the full trip as it was terrible rain & the boat journey was quite frightening. The next day he demanded I pay the 1,500,000 in petrol costs, which I did as I felt intimidated being on my own. By this point I had just wanted to leave the island and feel safe.

Otherwise for those not travelling alone, I can recommend the food served as it was delicious. The room and amenities were generally clean, although I did have rats at night. I felt comfortable around the rest of the family and the homestay area was kept tidy. The snorkelling in front of the beach was fantastic. I felt I needed to give my review for any future women travelling solo.

  • What a fantastic homestay! We had the pleasure of staying with Melki for a couple of days in March and – lucky us – had the whole place for ourselves. I don’t even know where to start. The huts are super tidy and the matress on the floor was surprisingly comfortable (compared to the ones we “enjoyed” before). It was also really nice to have our own little terrace with a deckchair and a drying rack. The shared toilet/showers were new and always perfectly clean – the whole place was so well maintained in general, with lots of love for details (lots of flowers, shells etc). The food cooked by Melki’s Mom was delicious throughout and we always got little treats between the meals.
Yenros is a bit remote and doesn’t have direct access to a village or another hotel/homestay which we enjoyed a lot, but there are still plenty of options to explore the nature around the homestay. The house reef was fantastic and birding close by was decent as well. And how adorable was the Couscous!
Melki, thank you very much for hosting us and we will definitely be back!

    Terima kasih banyak!

  • We stayed 3 nights at this homestay. The place has two astoning private beaches and a nice house reef. We saw the cuscus twice which came very close – so cute! The place is clean and facilities are in a good shape. One day one of the dogs slept in our bed because we forgot to close the door, but the family immediately changed the complete bed. Melki, the owner, was our personal tourgide, storyteller, photographer and friend at the same time. He is a very cool guy and speaks very good english. We were served with delicious homemade dishes and great cakes made by melki’s mum. We felt like being part of the family. Thank you so much, we really enjoyed the time!

  • We stayed 3 nights at this wonderful homestay. It’s a beautiful beach with a healthy housereef to snorkel. Saw a couple of nudibranch, turtle, nemo’s and reefsharks.

We loved playing with the children, the food was great and enjoyed the local wildlife as there were little bats, iguana’s and a snake. On the other side of Yenros (10 minute walk) there is a beautiful lagoon. You won’t regret staying here!

  • I spent 8 nights at Yenros homestay. It was one of the best vacations I have ever had.
Melki is a great host and Henry is an amazing guide. I visited Piaynemo and many other places. The trips were well organized and reasonably priced.
The accommodation and the food were good. We ate usually fish with rice and veggies. Always had some dessert like cake or fried bananas.
Yenros homestay is the perfect place for snorkeling and freediving. The coral reef just 20 meters from shore and it is the richest I have ever seen. Really. I can’t even describe the marine life. I saw turtles, sharks, manta rays and hundreds of different fish just by swimming around Yenros homestay. Melki also organized diving for me with a nearby dive centre. It was also great and cheaper then I expected.
Absolutely recommended. I hope I will have the chance to come again.

  • We had a great time in Yenros Homestay. Melki and Henry were very kind and the food was good. It is a homestay, so facilities are basic, but it is clean and there is an actual shower instead of buckets of water. The snorkling in the house reef is downright marvelous. We have snorkelled in many places in Raja Ampat but this was actually one of the best.

    Two recommendations for visitors:

    1. Message for divers: the nearby Biodiversity Resort does NOT take divers from homestays anymore. Melki and Henri helped us to find another place where we could dive, but we had quite some trouble finding one that would take us without staying there and which also looked reliable. We ended up diving with Kordiris Homestay, which was good, although not sure if it is PADI/SSI standard Dive Masters. As they give priority to their own guests, they let us know very late (in the middle of the night) if we could dive in the morning. This happened for several days in a row. I suggest you look up some places or arrange something on beforehand if you want to dive.

    2. Ensure you know what is included in the costs of trips that the homestay arranges, specifially transport. We had some misunderstandings over that.

Melki and Henri: thank you very much for the amazing memories!

  • We were really looking forward to staying at Yenros, and I confirmed our booking with Melki via email in advance of our arrival to make sure everything went smoothly.

Unfortunately, he never came to pick us up, and not only could we not reach him by phone, but neighboring homestays tried to call on our behalf to no avail.

Totally left us in the lurch. Very disappointing.

    • Hi when you book in my home stay I never see your booking if I know I will pick you up sorry.

      • Hi Melki –

Yenros approved Cat’s booking #16113 on March 22. The website booking system also sent Yenros an SMS pickup reminder on April 10, 48 hours before Cat was due to arrive.

We would like to understand what went wrong so we can do our best to make sure it doesn’t happen again!

  • We spent 6 nights at Yenros with a couple of friends from the UK. We were made to feel very welcome by Melki and his family and had a most wonderful stay. We did a number of the trips out and enjoyed them all. That said the reef just off the home stay beach takes some beating, we saw numerous sharks, turtles and more fish that you can imagine, to have this literally on your doorstep was magical.

  • Our stay at yenros was something to remember. We stayed for 5 days and had a lot of fun. Melki took good care of us and provided a lot of nice tours. The food in the homestay was amazing, with a lot of variety. He also provided a bbq for our goodbye.

The accomodations were also good, all the basics where available and there was a nice shower! The restaurant is on a hill with a nice view over raja ampats nature.

In front of the homestay there is a nice beach and snorkling spot where you can spot sharks and turtles. There are also some places nearby to which melki can take you where snorkling is very nice. Especially the friwin wall was a good place.

After leaving we would really like to come back and spend more time in yenros homestay.

  • of all these good coments we would very much like to stay here. My question is, what is there to drink next to water, tea and coffee? Is there also soft drinks and beer or wine? Or maybe we can buy that in the nearby village? Thank you very much for the answer.

    • Hi Cis

Soft drinks (unrefrigerated) can be purchased in nearby Yenbeser village. Beer is not widely available in Raja Ampat. Your hosts can organise beer for you if you ask them and can give them some time, but it would be best to buy a stock of beer before leaving Waisai.

  • The entire experience with the Yenros Homestay was fantastic. Like others we booked a week after reading many reviews. The thing that sold us was that Alfred Russel Wallace had his camp nearby and that a firefly tree existed. There were no fireflies in January, but it mattered little. And Wallace’s camp was worth visiting.
Melki and his family were very gracious and made us feel right at home. Although Melki has good English skills we were able to brush up on our Bahasa Indonesia. Melki even invited us to go to church with them in the nearby village (which is Milki’s family home) and we found the people warm and visit fascinating.
The conditions of the homestay are simple yet comfortable. It fits in very well with the local environment and is charming in every way. The beach and snorkeling are unsurpassed. We highly recommend the early morning visit to see the two species of the the Bird of Paradise. The Cuscus was a regular visitor and there are other wildlife to be seen on nearby hikes into the jungle.
The food was delicious and varied, of course one needs to like fish. Which should be little problem since it is prepared so well by Milki’s Mama (Ibu). The fried bananas and cakes made wonderful snacks.
The toilets and shower rooms were recently built and quite adequate.
The other guests were also a delight and I am so glad to meet them and from interesting places, the USA, Netherlands and Belgium. The homestay association is really a great innovation and is making sustainable tourism a functional reality.
Our kindness regards to Melki and his family for making a bit of paradise in our lives. Terima kasih Pa chik dan keluargamu!

  • We connected with Yenros homestay and Melky after we have read helpful reviews in stayradjaampat.com. We booked the houses 3 months in advance. We talked to Melky through Facebook. He helped with advice, such as taking a mobile card to have an internet on the island.
We were a group of 10 adults – family and friends. We did an 8 day and experience was amazing. Мelky has a big boat and we felt comfortable in our day trips. We saw unique places like Pianemo and Vayag, hidden secret lagoons, beaches and small islands.
The Raja Ampat Islands are stunning both above and below the water’s surface.

Underwater you can find the world’s best diving and snorkeling. The scuba diving is spectacular. The reefs are vibrant and FULL of fish. The coral appears to be very healthy and supports an incredible diversity of marine life. Both big and small animals can be found in abundance. A short list is Shark, Whale, Turtles, Dolphins and Manta.

The most impressive thing is the sheer number of fish. I’ve never seen so many fish… ever.

I celebrated my anniversary, and Melky and his family organized an incredible birthday for me. Throughout the day everyone was preparing my party – I had a crocodile of sand, an amazing beach table, music, colorful projectors and fire, barbecue and special birthday cake.
Thank you everyone for making my day so special.

    Homestay:
    – The homestays are really basic, but very clean. The rooms had thin mattresses on wooden floor equipped with hung mosquito nets. Blankets and towels are provided.
    – Lunch and dinner consisted of rice, 2 to 3 dishes (veggies, egg, fish) plus dessert. The breakfast were sweet cakes or fried donuts. In the afternoon we got very tasty snacks like fried bananas or pancakes with the coffee/tea. Overall for us, the food was tasty, enough and plentiful.
    – We found the food too spicy and told the cook. Melky’s sister began to cook according to our requirements
    – Shared bathrooms and toilets are new and very clean.
    – The generator- based electricity were on usually from sunset to midnight allowing us to charge batteries, transfer/review photos, etc.
    – Mosquitoes were around but they were not too many.
    Recommendation:
    – To have more fruits.
    – To have more different types of fish. On my birthday we tried very tasty fish.

We have experienced an unforgettable vacation we will be back in Raja Ampat and Yenros homestay.
Thank you Melky! Our best wishes to you and your family and friends!

  • I am glad that I chose to begin my Indonesian adventure in Raja Ampat. This place is one of the most beautiful places where I have travelled in Asia.

We were lucky to book 4 nights at Yenros Homestay on the Gam island. The accommodation consists in bungalows near to the crystal clear water of the sea and also close enough to the jungle. The rooms are simple, clean and cozy. They are not closed and instead of beds there are maitresess which are protected by bed canopy nets against insects. There is no tv or other electronic devices, there are just power sockets and a light bulb. Believe me, this is more than enough to be in harmony with the sea waves and the sounds of the jungle. There are two shared toilets and a bath room. The power works only during the evening hours. The bungalows are a perfect insertion in such luxury environment, so choose this place only if you had enough of concrete buildings and infinity pools.

Our host (and the owner) is Melky and he took great care of us during our stay. He know english very good and he is a very good guide also. He can organize a lot of daily trips in the magnificent are of Raja Ampat and he knows some secret places :). Don’t miss the walking shark night tour, but wear some water shoes. You can do a good quality snorkeling right in the front of the bungalows or you can ask Melky for some really special places for that (The Wall).

We were being served 3 meals each day at fixed hours. The food is cooked by the Melky’s sister and it’s delicious. It’s is based mainly of fish (at least this was our preference) and chicken. For example we had a lot of fresh tuna fish. The dinning place is gracefully placed on a little hill offering a super view along with the good food. On our last evening at Yenros Homestay Melky’s family prepared for us a fairwelll party on the beach with fish barbecue, beers and lots of fun, that made us very happy and also very sad to leave “the paradise”.

Hope to see you soon, Melky and good luck to you, your family and your friends!
    Greetings, Ana and Ernest.

  • Ravie dEtre restée chez Melki 8 jours. Famille super et toujours prête à rendre’ votre séjour agréable. Endroit propre .
Hope to come back again
I recommend this place.one of the best I did in Raja Ampat. Family perfect and friendly and good snorkelling.

  • I stayed to Melki.s homestay 9 days. They were perfect.all the family and the staff are nice people.they do what they could to make you happy. Mama ‘s food is good and we had a lot of fresh fish every day..
I like to go snorkel from the beach.you could see a lot and coral still nice. We went see the walking shark in the night, go to see the bird paradise….everything good for organization. For me ,The only little point is the bed on the ground . I have some knee problems and it wasn’t easy to get up….but it is the only thing . Melki already said he would make some usual bed. I would appreciate when I come back .

Thanks Melki

  • We stayed with Melky and his family for five days in late November and had a wonderful time. Melky was very easy to communicate with, and he did everything he could to make us comfortable and happy. There were five single people in our group of nine, and when we arrived, Melky didn’t have enough beds. So immediately after bringing us to the homestay, he left for his village, borrowed a couple of mattresses, and bought some extra mosquito nets. The food was excellent — abundant vegetables and freshly caught fish. We relaxed in the hammocks and snorkeled right off the beach. We visited Pianemo, Hidden Bay, and the hidden lake. We got up before dawn to see the red birds of paradise and Wallace’s camp. We visited Melky’s village and were welcomed warmly by all the people we saw. We were all very sad to leave!

  • I spent 5 days with Melki and couldn’t have been happier. His whole family is so kind and fair and we had the whole beach (and stunning offshore snorkeling) to ourselves! This place is great because there are only a handful of huts, so the solitude and quiet is bliss. I went on the birds of paradise tour and the “Wall,” which had the best snorkeling I’ve been anywhere. Saw birds about 30 feet away, too: mating!

As other reviews state, the food is awesome and on time every day, served at 7:00, 12:00, and 7:00. Some homestays leave you waiting around hours for food, with no notice about when it will arrive.

  • We were staying with Melki’s homestay for almost and a week and we enjoyed every minute of it.
Melki and his family are lovely and helpful. Melki’s english is very good, so he will be able to help you with anything you need.
The homestay itself is located at an amzing reef with loads of unterwater life(corals, fishes, turtles, sharks… anything). So snorkeling is perfect there and makes diving almost obsolete. Nevertheless the next diving centre is just a 10min walk through the jungle or a 2min boat drive with Melki.
The food which is cooked by melkis mum and GF is really delicious – with fresh fish in different varieties as well as a lot of veggies!

Regarding tours: generally tours in raja ampat are expensive. Nevertheless melki did his best to offer us a great deal and show us also a few of his amazing secret spots

I recommended Melkis homestay already to other people and i wish him and his family all the best for the future. Hope to see them all again some day.

    • Hi christop and markus

  • We stayed 3 nights in September at Melky´s wonderful homestay. In my opinion he is the perfect homestay owner. We had a lot of fun with him and his family and besides that he´s always trying to create the best experience for his guests.
What I really liked was all the information he told me about living in Raja Ampat and how he wants to protect the area! Wonderful!!! Keep going 🙂
If you have any question or problem Melky and his family are trying to help you. Besides that the homestay offers great trips!
    (Go to the campsite–>amazing)
The homestay has really nice spacious bungalows and the food was so delicious! There is also cake in the afternoon and the fried bananas in the morning were the best I ever had,
Last bot not least I want to mention the great house reef with a beautiful coral garden.

Melky we wish you and your family all the best! See you again at Yenros Homestay

    Robin & Martina!

  • My daughter and I stayed at Yenros homestay from 11 to 14 September, 2017. I cannot say enough good things about this homestay! Many thanks to Melki, the owner of this nice place. Everything was great : very good communication (Melki speaks English), nice bungalow, tasty home cook meals, amazing snorkeling at the fantastic home reef, incredible trip to see Paradise Bird, visit to the village etc. We had an enjoyable and wonderful time with Melki and his family.

We are looking forward to visiting them next year again

  • Posto bellissimo, barriera corallina accessibile anche con la bassa marea. Fondali belli con coralli e pesci. Struttura semplice, ma si mangia benissimo, c è pure la merenda nel pomeriggio. Possono organizzare escursioni x snorkeling. Siamo stati benissimo. Segnale telefonico con scheda indonesiana discreto. Melky parla inglese. La mamma ci ha nutrito.

Beautiful place, coral reef accessible even at low tide. Beautiful backdrops with coral and fish. Simple structure, but you eat fine, is also the snack in the afternoon. They can organize snorkelling excursions. We had a great time. Discreet Indonesian phone signal. Melky speaks English. Mom has fed us.

  • We stayed a week at Yenros early august 2017, and it was absolutely fantastic!

First, you have a whole beach for yourself, with excellent marine life and snorkel sights at a few meters from the shore. The corals are in good shape, and we saw turtles and plenty of fish every day. Second, the bungalow was very comfortable. Still simple, it is a bungalow, but a good bed, clean room and electricity at night (always practical to reload the camera battery after a day of taking a thousand pictures!). Third, we loved the food!! OMG it was delicious, perfectly cooked and we had plenty. Baked cakes, grilled fish, chicken, and always diversified and so tasty (I get hungry just thinking about it!).

But everything would not have been as perfect without our hosts. Melki and his family, with who we shared most of the week, are very friendly and accomodating people. The fact that they speak english is a huge plus. Also, we really appreciated them snorkelling with us, gave us a feeling of safety and it was a great time to know each other better.

We can’t wait to be back, and when we do we will certainly look for Yenros homestay!

  • We had the best week on ‘our’ private beach with beautiful reef in front of it. Kevin and his wife, who where hosting us because Melki was away, are really nice people and took really good care of us. Food was great and really varied, there was even a 4 o’clock coffee snack! Yenros is also a great location if you want to do a diving trip, but don’t want to stay in a boring diving resort. The Biodiversity diving resort is only a 15 minute walk (on the next beach). The pick-up from the ferry was well arranged. The trip to friwen wall is also highly recommendable. If we are coming back to Raja Ampat, we will definitely stay in Yenros again! Thanks again Kevin and Corazona! Regards Hanne and Derk

  • I stayed in Kevin’s and Melkis Homestay for two nights.

From the second I arrived the whole family was so welcoming, helped me out where they could. Arraganged last minute tours for me, showed me the housereef, walked with me through the jungle.
It has been such a heartwarming experience for me to stay with them. Not forget to mention that Kevin’s wife is a great cook!

I really hope to see them again one day.
Thanks for the memories and making my last days in Papua so special.

  • We stayed for 3 nights in July. Yahya, his wife ( and who can forget the beautiful April) and Milkie were excellent hosts. Our bungalow was clean and comfortable. The Homestay is clean and is nicely set out, with the toilet/washing facilities close by and a cliff top eating area. The food was plentiful and very tasty. The housereef is excellent, with lots of fish, hard and soft corals.
What a beautiful family, thank you for welcoming us to your home.
    Kindest regards

  • At the end of our time in raja we were looking to spend our last night on gam island and we very fortunately ended up at melkis. Melki was very kind and accommodating. The first night he took us on a walking shark tour and we were lucky to find one in the lagoon out back. The 2nd day we went out to snorkel the house reef and Melki joined us without our asking and showed us some great spots where we saw turtles, sharks and much more! On the 3rd day Melki and his brother took us on a day tour to batu lima and the passage where we took amazing photos of the view and snorkel. Melki and his brother helped us get some really good photos as well. The food that his sister cooked was amazing and far above what we had come to expect from other homestays in the area. The toilets and rooms were clean and well kept and the beach out front has a good stretch of sand so you can also swim as well as snorkel the house reef. We had an amazing time and would have loved to stay longer. Hopefully we can return soon. Thanks Melki.

  • We planned to stay 3 nights at Yenros homestay but ended up staying 5 nights AND returned for another 2 nights at the end of our Raja Ampat trip.
Melki is a great guy! We did a lot of the (snorkel) tours and he showed us so many amazing things and places.
The homestay is very nice. The bungalow was very comfortable and everything is well maintained and clean.
The beach is perfect! The coral reef is indeed pristine and full of life, we saw so many fish, a wobbegong, sharks, a turtle and even a manta.
Melki and his family are amazing people, with a special thanks to his mother and sister who cooked us the best food we had during our month in west papua.

So Melki, our friend, thank you for everything.
    We found our paradise!

  • We stayed only 3 nights at Yenros homestay and would have stayed longer if we could. The place is really amazing and Melki and his family are doing a great job. Already had nice contact on the phone before arriving, great pick up at the airport in Waisai and had a very warm welcome by the family. The homestay is exactly as on the pictures, the bugalows are spacious and very clean, we were even supplied with towels and the bathroom facilities more than ok. The food cooked by Melkis mother was great and varied and we very much enjoyed the tours to the village, to see the walking sharks and snorkeling together to see the Wobbegongs. By the way, the housereef just in front of the beach is in a very good condition with lots of healthy hard corals, turtles and sharks. We even had a Cuscus visiting the kitchen at night. All in all we can only highly recommend to stay here when coming to Raja Ampat and will definately try to come back ourselves.

  • Yenros is a very nice place to stay and from where to take interesting tours around Gam. Melki’s a wildlife expert who can show you walking sharks and birds of paradise e.g. Food is OK if a bit too little varied for breakfasts. The reef is superb and the beach is simply stunning at high tide. My family (three adults, one kid) would come back anytime. Because the place was overbooked, common practice with all homestays it seems, and because of a misunderstanding with the birds’ tour I’ll give it a four stars, although I’d give it a four stars and a half if possible.

  • We stayed beautiful long 11 days at Yenros Homestay without getting bored ones. Melki and his family is very friendly, helpful and grateful and made our stay really nice. The homemade lunchs and dinners are always cooked with love and the fried bananas for coffee and tea are super delicious. The pictures on this homepage are exactly like it looks in real and the reef infront of the beach is even more beautiful. We definitely like to come back again!

  • There were 7 of us in this trip and we were hopping from one homestay to another every day, so we have seen a lot of them. Given that Yenros is clearly a highlight with more privacy, better view, cleaner beach than other oh-not-so-bad-at-all options.

  • Melki was very very nice and helpful. He speaks good English and helped us a lot during our very short stay there.
The food was great! Nice rooms!
The electricity was a bit sketchy, so our light went out when charging two phones and a camera at the same time.

Melki helped arrange a boat to Waisai and even took me to a ATM with a motorbike to be able to pay for the boat.
I would love to go there again and stay a little longer, the snorkeling is supposed to be very good. We only stayed for one night.

  • We really like to stay at this place even if we just had time to stay for one night. The food is really good and you will have enought of food for every meal. The family is very friendly and helpful, they can help you with boattransfer to Wasai harbour. Nice and peaceful place.

    We recommend this place!

  • Yenros Homestay is in a great location with a super house reef on the doorstep. Lunch and dinner was delicious and plentiful. The bungalows were basic but nice.
Unfortunately negotiating with Melki took great effort leading to misunderstandings which was hard, especially as my husband speaks basic but good Indonesian. We felt that Melki was being difficult on purpose, and were happy to leave after only two nights. We didn’t understand why this homestay charged more than other similar homestays.

  • Kobus & Cirkie
We stayed at Yenros for six days in December 2016 and had the most wonderful time. Kevin picked us up at the Wai Sai ferry and his wife Korasona welcomed us with freshly baked pancakes and tea upon arrival at Yenros. We were treated with three hot meals a day and freshly baked cake at afternoon tea for the rest of the stay.
The snorkeling is wonderful at Yenros and Kevin took us for snorkeling at other locations.
We also enjoyed the boat trim around Gam Island.
Kevin and Korasona treated us like family and Korasona even gave two presents to my wife when we left Yenros.

  • I only stayed two nights because the current was just too strong for me. This will not apply to everybody as I am 76 and it was New Moon.

But Kevin really did his best for me: he came snorkelling with me because of the current and helped me ashore. He found a snorkel for me because mine broke the first day and came running with a mat so that I could do my gymnastics in comfort. He was also very kind and understanding when I left earlier than I had booked.
I am really grateful for this kind, understanding, helpful attitude. It makes me love Raja Ampat even more.
It is difficult to award stars as I can only judge the human side, not snorkelling. But I have to, so please keep the context in mind.

  • My orginal plan was 6 nigth stay,i stayed total 16 nights.
Yenros setup was just so perfect for me so i stayed.(i had 4 nigth visit at Kri which was huge disappointment,so i came back)
Place was quiet, clean, beautiful…and oh, that family.
I loved their kindness and sense of humor. There was allways laughter in a house. Those prankster, smiling kid’s made feel 30 years younger 🙂
We did many trips with Kevin and her sons and those trips were amazing.
We did also trip to Pianemo and that was “trip of my life” literally and i’ll keep that story between me and family.
Family invited me X-mas church with them and it was so heartbursting experience,i wont never forget that nigth.
I could write tons of pages about my stay but there’s no words enough.
Food?..it was brilliant and allways enough.
reef?..beautiful.There was dolphins, turtle and HUGE grey reef shark.
    Cuscus was also regular visitor.
Mosquitos was no trouble for me,it was the yellow ants who did all the damage on my feets.
My stay was perfect and i will come back.
It’s late now so it’s “tidur time” 🙂

  • I was fortunate enough to visit Raja Ampat during a work trip in Indonesia this month. My colleague and I were only able to stay one night so we chose Yenros homestay as it had some good review on this site.

As we only booked it two days before we were impressed with the quick response and following communication with Melki and Kevin. We were picked up at the harbour and driven by boat to Gam island (approx. a 25min journey).

The homestay is idealic – truly simple living. The wooden huts are built just behind the beach under the shade of the trees. They were well built with great ventilation (no aircon needed). We were cooked lovely food by the family who were able to cater for vegetarians, which I let them know beforehand. The beach itself is stunning – white sand and crystal clear waters! The snorkelling is amazing – the best reefs I’ve ever seen. There is a reef about 10m of the beach with incredible biodiversity. We also snorkelled off Friwen island to which Kevin gave us a lift in his boat.

It was a real retreat – so different from the busy lifestyle in Sorong and Jakarta. I couldn’t recommend Yenros homestay enough. Charming huts in a perfect location and a wonderful welcoming family. (Just note that it is basic accommodation – no frills)

I hope very much that I can come back! Thank you Yenros!

Ps I don’t think the photos do it justice – it is even more stunning in real life!

  • We recently returned to UK from an amazing 3 weeks trip around this part of indonesia and west Papua and can highly recommend
Yenkangkanes Homestay (Waigeo – Near Waisai)
    Yenros Homestay

We stayed 3 nights in both home stays. Yenkangkanes – we had room over the sea with sea breeze. Thoroughly enjoyed the added bonus of sitting on the veranda to watching the tide come in and out – saw so much just looking into the crystal clear water. Snorkelling from beach was easy and fascinating. Walking trip to see Wilson’s bird of paradise for dawn an incredible sight. went from here for ~20 min boat to Yenros. Excellent place to stay -lovely family with a delightful 4 year old , beautiful beach and again great easy snorkelling. My three bits of advice regarding snorkelling are: a rash shirt or equivalent for sun protection is essential and watch out if you are out snorkelling and it is near low tide you will need to find the channel the boat comes in to find your way back for safe clearance from the corals. You will need to bring your own gear. Flippers at Yenkankanes not sure at Yenros.

  • We stayed at Yenros for 4 nights in August 2016. A peaceful place with a lovely family. And also the dogs are lovely… I’m afraid of dogs, but all dogs we have seen in Raja Ampat don’t bark or jump up at you. So I really started to like them 🙂 We have seen a cuscus one evening which came to eat a fruit and during the night we could hear them on the trees around the bungalow. A king fisher was regularly fishing just in front of the beach.
Togheter with Kevin, Grace and Emily we made a snorkelling tour to Friwen Wall. Just amazing! The house riff is also great.
Corason is a talented cook. Food was always delicious and we got a lot of papaya and banana, yammy! And Kevin climbed the coconut tree for us. What a nice sunset drink! But hati-hati when it’s windy…

  • We stayed 4 days in August 2016. We were 8 people and occupied the whole homestay. It was a wonderful stay. The four huts, basic but comfortable , were at ten meters from the beach. Just in front of homestay an amazing coral reef was waiting for us. One boat was available for our trips every day. So it was possible to go to Kabui passage, or to Friwen wall, or to Cape Kri, or to Warikhaf homestay, and so on …. Kevin and his family were very kind, fiendly and helpful for every requirement .Food was very good and rich, fish and chicken every day. We appreciated very much fried banana and apples served as snack in the afternoon. We spent every evening talking with much pleasure with Kevin, trying to learn bahasa language and raja ampat language. Very interesting. We highly recommend this homestay. Many greetings to Kevin and his splendid children. we hope to come back !

  • We stayed 5 days in Feb2016. Great snorkelling on the house reef. Easy to arrange trips to different spots. Kevin was very accommodating for these….the Passage , Friewin Wall are really the best….lots of critters and fantastic coral. Food was plentiful and good although the fish was a bit over cooked. Worth the money for sure.

  • My friend and I had an amazing experience at Yenros Homestay. Everything was fantastic. First, we were warmly greeted by Kevin and his whole beautiful and happy family. The property was great with a wonderful beach which you could snorkel right off of and it was really cool during low tide where we saw many interesting creatures. All day long, you could hear (and sometimes see) really interesting birds and at night some nocturnal creatures too. The food was also fantastic and we were well-fed the whole time with three great meals a day plus an afternoon snack and unlimited coffee, tea, and water at all times. The facilities were comfortable and basic but the water you bathed with was oftentimes warm so it was a nice surprise given its remote location. The affordable day trips from the beach were also another great bonus. Highly recommend!!

  • We didnt get the chance to stay at Yenros but we did have dinner and a big snorkel there and I would say it is definitely worth checking out. Great house reef and delicious food.

    • Hey is water fully Crystal clear in front of the homestay? What kind of fish can you see? Thanks for any information?

      • I auto reply myself because I spent 4 nights in august there with my family (they wrote just above). Yes the water was breathtaking and crystal clear. Everything was amazing: the homestays, Kevin and all his family and the sea. It was the most amazing coral reef I’ve never seen in my life. Moreover, we reached Kri cape and during the trip we saw dugongs and manta rays from boat and a lot of fishes, turtles and sharks once there. The best snorkel ever!! I strongly recommend yenros homestay and raja ampat!!!

They offer a lot of trips to different places in reasonable prices-big advantage. We made some short trips over the jungle behind the place and saw a lot of tropical birds even in daylight. For snorkling- Friwen Wall strongly recommended. For short trip-hidden lake. Very helpful family. We loved that stay!

  • At Yenros five days. Amazing! Melky was not there. The homestay was ruled by Kevin, a marveillous guy, always kind, reliable, efficient. Birds of Paradise at 5 am, wow! Kabui passage, wow! Snorkelling in different places, wow! Food, wow! Corazon and grandma extraclever preparing simple excellent fish every meal. Tera and April are two sweet and joyful children. Roby is a rocky, intelligent, discreet and generous cooperator. Oh ya, Yenros is basic, very basic. Not to be suggested to people used to luxurious accomodation. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! In our opinion a shower or a modern bed or a western-style wc can perhaps be appreciable… but the fact itself of meeting such wonderful and smiling people is by far not only appreciable, but even important!

  • Thanks Melki, Wada & mamas – Eusemina & Noel, we had a wonderful 3 day stay, excellent meals mamas ( best so far in our Homestay journey in RA).

Nice welcoming family, great beaches & house reef. Had fun making signs for the bungalows and a hammock for the kids also a great boat trip to secret lake, saw hornbills up close.

I definitely recommend this home stay and look forward to return to the new cliff top restaurant.
Note; This place is super kid friendly for those with kids of all ages, but especially younger ones as the beach is super safe.

  • Stayed for 4 nights and can highly recommend Yenros. The house reef made for great snorkelling (even saw a turtle), the homestay was clean and the family, headed by Kevin (Melki was in Manado but called to check on us) were an absolute delight. Food, which seems to be a bit of an issue in Raja Ampat, was a little sparse at breakfast but excellent at lunch and dinner with lots of fresh fish – one of the other guests was vegetarian and there was always 2 greens and/or tempeh on the table.

Our hut did not initially have a light switch or plug to charge, but a quick chat to Kevin and both were taken care of.

Highly recommended, a true Papuan family experience.

  • In october/ november 2015 we spent 15 nights in Raja Ampat. At 11 of the 15 nights we were the only guests. Weather was fine – it used to rain once a day but mostly at night and only for short times, so this didn´t matter or even was a welcome refreshing.
Communication in advance by SMS and e-mail was not easy but it worked.
Given the prices partially called for boat transports – as incredible as impudent – I recommend to arrange boat transports in advance and negotiating with the one you (maybe!) are heading to gives you a better position.

We stayed at 3 homestays: Mangrove/Mansuar, Beser Bay/Gam and Yenros/Gam and I can recommend all the three accommodations.
But as there are differences, I can not rate them all equally with 5 stars.
About all the three homestays I can tell: Located in nice surroundings, bungalows spacious and in good shape; great snorkelling just off the beach; food plentiful and varied, every day fish, rice and vegetable though, (One word about the handling of fish: Sometimes it would have been better to fry the fish not as long and not as hot as they did 😉
Yenros: Bungalows on land; white sandy beach; it´s easy to go swimming at every state of tide; very spacious coral gardens and great diversity of coral and fish off the shore; snorkelling at Friwen Wall strongly recommended! http://www.panoramio.com/photo/126057483
telephone signal is good enough even for internet

  • In october/ november 2015 we spent 15 nights in Raja Ampat. At 11 of the 15 nights we were the only guests. Weather was fine – it used to rain once a day but mostly at night and only for short times, so this didn´t matter or even was a welcome refreshing.
Communication in advance by SMS and e-mail was not easy but it worked.

  • We stayed there for 4 nights in November. The family is very nice, the house reef is truly outstanding (except we hardly saw any fish – well at least compared to Kri) and there is a lot of bird life around.
During our stay we were dissapointed by the variety of food. It was great on the first day but then quality really went down. Another really annoying thing was that our bungalow had no lightswitch installed which meant we had to wait until the generator was turned off around midnight to be able to sleep. Sorry, but all in all a mixed experience for the price we paid.

  • Great location, snorkling, beach and birds of paradise. I would like to thank the whole family for a great time I had. Food was outstanding.
There is many things to do in this area. I stayed 4 nights, but wish I could stay longer.

  • Everybody at Yenros made our stay absolutely wonderful. From calling Melki to organise coming over a day early, to the warm welcome we got from Kevin, his lovely wife and little April. The place itself is fantastic also, stunning clear sandy beaches, the best coral we saw anywhere in Raja Ampat (my husband did quite a lot of diving elsewhere and still said the coral on the house reef here was better), the only place where we got to see a cus cus AND wild dolphins! The tropical storms where awesome, the phytoplankton and stars at night magical. The bungalows are simple but very comfortable and the bathroom is very clean. The food was great with lots of snacks available in-between meals (this is definitely not the case in some places where you end up a bit hungry…). They cooked fresh fish, vegetables, friend bananas, prawn crackers, tasty pandan cake and always had fresh bananas and oranges available. Basically I could go on and on about how great this place is. Let me just leave you with one thought. If you are considering whether to go for a bigger “more popular” homestay by all means try it, we did the same thing but also decided to come here. What you will quickly realise though is that the larger homestays have lost that homely feel and are definitely more of a business, whereas little places like Yenros are still relatively unknown and untouched. If you want a genuine Papuan experience come here or pick one of the other smaller places. 🙂 love you Kevin!!! Annie and Jon.

  • A friend and I stayed at Yenros Homestay in September 2015 for three days, and what a treat! First, the location of the homestay is a dream, two private white sand beaches with a beautiful house reef in front where you can spot turtles and beautiful coral. Second, the bungalows are very clean and well maintained. The detached toilet and bucket shower are also very clean. Third, the food is beautiful! Fresh fish, rice and vegetables are a delight! Fourth, the family who cares for the homestay is absolutely beautiful and exhibit true Papuan hospitality. They prepared the best meals, took us snorkelling to the most special spots in the area and were always available to help! Fifth, the hidden lagoon in the back of the homestay is potentially one of the most magical swims a guest to Raja Ampat can do! Snorkelling is limited to the beginning, but if you feel like a good two hour swim amidst dugongs, beautiful jungle and limestone cliffs, this place is it! At the end of the lagoon there is a hidden surprise after a short jungle trek. Highly recommend this homestay for just about everything! 🙂

  • Stayed at Yenros in August 2015 for a couple of nights. The house reef was great. Saw sharks and turtles and the corals were great. Took a boat trip to Kabui Bay and snorkeled in Kabui Passage and on the way home stopped off and snorkeled Batu Lima. Took another snorkeling trip to Friwen Wall and Bat Island. Yenros is well located if you want to check out Kabui Passage, Friwen Wall, Bat Island and Batu Lima. Great Homestay. Great staff.

  • Milky and his family were great hosts and the accommodation, view and beach were fantastic. Pretty much two beaches to ourselves:)
The snorkelling on the reef off the beach was amazing for sea life and beautiful coral. Saw sharks and turtles everyday! Resident cuscus in the tree at night time. Food was great too.
Milky’s offered tours were great too and reasonably priced. We saw the walking sharks at night and also had a trip to the hidden lagoon, both great!
Thank you Milky for a great time!

  • We stayed at Yenros for a week, until now this is our favourite homestay.
Melki the owner wasn’t around, because he is studying in Manado. So the place is runned by his sister and brother in law. We had contact with Melki, and then the brother in law picked us up from Kri with his speedboat.

As mentiond in de discription he has two bungalows and is building another one. The bungalow is simple, but spacious and it is just what you need.

The food is perfect, grilled fish with lunch and dinner always with a nice side dish. In between the serve snacks like fried banana and potato and cake.

The house reef is good for snorkeling and close to Batu Lima and Friwen Wall. Both stunning! We let him drop us off in Batu Lima and swimmed back to the homestay. A long swim but rewarding!
We did a trip to the hidden lake and the narrow passage, where you more have the idea that you are going over a river.
And during one night we went looking for the walking sharks, walking in a sort of mangrove with our flashlights.

If you want to be alone, and interact with the local family this is the perfect place. The beach is secluded, inbetween big rocks. And there is no other homestay on this beach. Its good that they have a dictonary! 🙂

Maybe our review is a bit to possitive, but this place deserves more guests!

Wish him and his family all the best.
