Coconut crabs: This protected species is unfortunately hunted and sold at some places in Raja Ampat. Please don’t buy any. Yengkris Homestay will refuse to cook them for you and will insist you release them instead.

Activities

Diving & snorkelling

Be sure to bring your snorkelling gear: Yengkris Homestay affords safe swimming over a sandy bottom close inshore, transitioning to a coral reef that offers excellent snorkelling as you get further out. The beach is perfect for children, as it is not swept by the fast tidal currents experienced in most places in Raja Ampat. Be aware of what the tide is doing when venturing out from the shallows, though!

Turtles and small sharks are often seen in the shallows by day and walking sharks can be seen at night. Look long enough and you will also find giant clams, black tip reef sharks and the occasional wobbegong (carpet shark).

The jungles of Gam are rich with wildlife:  Red Birds of Paradise display nearby, and kuskus are sometimes seen at night. Other interesting places nearby include the Kanji-inscribed Japanese naval survey marker on Monkairi/Batu Lima (good snorkelling there too), Kabui Bay, Friwen and Yenbeser villages and the historic and very scenic Dore Mkun inlet. Yengkris Homestay can of course organise any snorkelling, sightseeing and island-hopping trips you might want to make, and diving can be arranged with a neighbouring dive center.

  • Best Homestay in Raja Ampat. The beach is so beautiful. The family is amazing. They organized everything for us. The food is also great and tasty.

  • Absolutely lovely family hosting in the most heavenly place. The welcome was warm, the place clean and common area lovingly decorated. Simple, yet attentions to details are everywhere, providing an instant homey and cosy feeling. The food was very well prepared, traditional and delicious, plenty in quantity and matching the place’s energy. The house reef is a wonder of coral architecture with fifty shades of parrot fish (we also spotted white tips and blue spotted stingrays) and could occupy all of your high tides. Bed comfy, bathroom right next door, had an amazing time. Terima kasih!

  • I stayed at Yengkris for about 10 days. It was the best place I stayed at Raja Ampat. First, Paula and family are lovely, very attentive and make sure everything is in order and running smoothly. Food was plentiful, varied and delicious. The rooms are right on the beach and the house reef is one of the best I snorkelled in with a rich diversity of fish, including turtles and black tipped reef sharks. There are many trips also available. The great thing about Yengkris is that as well as snorkelling, you can hike in the rainforest right behind the homestay. There are numerous birds around, Eclectus parrots, Great billed Parrot, Black Cockatoo, Butcher birds, Friar birds and the Red Bird of Paradise was there most mornings. I would love to return here for a longer stay!

  • Yengkris has all you could wish for in a top homestay: very comfortable bungalows with raised beds, two communal bathrooms which are kept very clean, excellent food incl. plentiful fish and chicken dishes as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. There is a lovely sandy beach a few paces in front of each bungalow verandah, and a fantastic coral reef with a rich diversity of marine life. There are also trails into the surrounding rainforest where you can immerse yourself in the extraordinary soundscape of a dawn chorus. My friend and I took advantage of trips to the Blue River on Waigeo as well as a long boat cruise through the beautiful Kabui Bay with its majestic karst rock formations. Best of all were Paula and her super-kind, multigenerational family who did everything to make our stay so special. Thank you!

  • Yengkris was the best homestay on our whole journey through Raja Ampat, I wish we would have known that before, we would have stayed even longer! The food was delicious and the accommodation is perfect! Also the house reef is just amazing! I can just recommend it! Paula and her family are lovely people! I will come back for sure!

  • We spent a week at this homestay and in the end we didn’t want to leave. Paula and her family are lovely and always make sure everything is clean and that you have everything you need. The food is delicious and the place is spectacular. The reef in front of the homestay is amazingly beautiful, and if you want to dive, they take you by boat to dive sites like Corepen or Tarzan. Also, it’s not an area where many boats pass by, so it’s extremely peaceful, both for relaxing and for snorkeling. It’s a very basic homestay, but the family makes it a truly special place!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Yengkris. Paula and her family were very welcoming and attentive and Paula’s mum is a great cook. The home reef is lovely- there is lots to see; turtles, sharks, and the odd manta and moray eel as well as walking sharks. There is also a track at the back of the homestay next door that leads up into the jungle where – if you are lucky – you might see a red bird of paradise.

  • We stayed 3 nights over the Christmas break and this homestay was wonderful. Paula and her family were so welcoming and friendly and warm. They have put so much love and care into all aspects of this homestay. Our room was large, clean. The toilets and showers were clean and well maintained. The eating area spotless and great to sit in front of the ocean. Food plentiful and delicious. The beach is beautiful, quiet and clean. Snorkeling amazing. One of our favourite stays.

  • Yengkris was by far our favorite homestay in Raja Ampat and we can wholeheartedly recommend it.

There are three bungalows, one of them brand new, located on the land just off the beach. Each bungalow has a deck where you can relax and a wide, elevated bed that is very comfortable. There is also a communal area where delicious food is served every day. Fresh fish is prepared daily, caught by Papa right in front of the homestay in the sea out front, which is full of tuna, and served with tasty vegetables and often an egg. You definitely won’t go hungry here. The bathroom huts are located a little further back from the beach and are spotlessly clean.

The house reef was amazing and without a doubt the most beautiful we saw during our trip, even though we also stayed near Yenbuba and the Sauwandarek jetty. Every day while snorkeling we saw sea snakes, turtles, sharks, moray eels and much more. We went diving with Corepen Dive Homestay because the nearby Biodiversity was a bit more expensive. Paula can take you to Corepen, where you can do two or three dives. In the evening you can ask them to pick you up for a night dive at Batu Lima, which is highly recommended and absolutely incredible.

What truly made our stay at Yengkris so special was the host family. They are incredibly warm and welcoming and do everything they can to make sure everything runs smoothly. They run their homestay with so much love that you immediately feel at home. We all wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us and hopefully see you again.

  • To stay here is to stay in a little peace of heaven. We stayed for a week and Paula, Sara,Mamma and Papa and their two sons could not have been kinder or more welcoming. Every morning, we were greeted with smiles that could not help but make you feel lucky to be alive and fed the most delicious tasting healthy food. Our hosts were so very caring and nothing was too much trouble for them. They even gave us a change of towels and sheets mid week and tidied our room! The house reef is excellent with sharks, turtles, remoras, clams and a plethora of colourful fish. A short walk away is a cave where soldiers from World War 2 hid and a stroll down the beach in the opposite direction brings you to Biodiversity Eco-resort should you choose to dive (and only then can you access their bar for a cold beer). It’s so stunningly beautiful and peaceful here that I urge you to book right away and rest assured in the knowledge that you will never regret it. They were even generous enough to give us keepsakes so that our memories would not fade. Utter bliss.

  • We spent 3 nights here in October. Paula, Sarah& the family gave us a beautiful warm welcome. Every care is taken and everything is kept so clean and tidy. Food was tasty and plenty of it. The house reef was also fabulous, better than anywhere else we stayed. Bapak is a master boatman trying to get us safely to our next homestay. When this wasn’t possible because of sea conditions, they really took care of us, ensuring we could make the transfer the following day. Terima kasih banyak Paula, Sara, Naomi and Bapak. We hope to come back one day soon

  • We enjoyed our 3 nights at this homestay so much! Paula und her whole family are such lovely people. What the family built here is impressing. It feels like you have your own private beach 2 steps away from the accommodation and one of the best coral reefs right in front. The food that is included was the best one we’ve had in Raja Amapat just very very good.
Overall we recommend everyone staying at this homestay. We loved it!

  • My stay in Yengkris homestay was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious : you have unlimited tea and coffee, a delicious snack everyday at 4 pm, we never lacked food during the whole stay. The bungalows are very cosy, and sleeping with the sound of the ocean in the background was really incredible. The whole family are the kindest people I’ve met in my travels : both Paula and Sara speak great english, everybody is really helpful when you need anything.
It is one of the cleanest homestay I’ve been to : the bathroom is squeaky clean , the bed is made everyday and the bedsheets are changed throughout the stay.
The reef is beautiful : you can snorkel along the massive beach up until Batu Lima diving site if you want; the marine wildlife is very well preserved and you will be able to see massive giant clams.
The beach is gorgeous : the most beautiful beach I’ve seen during my stay in Raja Ampat. Unlike other homestays, you can walk along the beach and see many different species of birds during your walk : hornbills, cockatoos, kingfisher, parrots will be seen everyday .
Also, there is a little path in the jungle behind the homestay you can use to reach a beautiful mangrove, and perhaps see some birds of paradise or kuskus (I’ve seen one during my stay).
Dolphins are often present on the reef , during my stay I have seen some almost everyday.
The Biodiversity resort that is 5 minutes walk away will allow you to dive whenever you want, which was really great as you benefit from both the safe diving and the local experience among this amazing family.
To finish, the human experience you will have in this homestay is amazing. As both Paula and her sister Sara speak great english, we were able to talk together and create beautiful friendships that I will never forget. Learning about Raja Ampat’s culture and lifestyle was truly amazing, and my stay here will remain one of the most precious memories I’ve made. I will definitely come back to visit Yengkris again when I come back to Raja Ampat.
If you want a beautiful experience and amazing friends in Raja Ampat, you have to visit Yengkris.
Thank you for welcoming me 🫶🏻

  • I don’t even know how to describe the amazing and unique experience my friends and I had at Yengkris Homestay.

The views were breathtaking, and the beach was truly private, clean, and beautiful. The house reef was incredible—you could see small sharks, turtles, and all kinds of fish. In the afternoons, we often saw dolphins from the homestay, and sometimes there were cuscuses and birds of paradise around.

This place has everything you’re looking for in Raja Ampat.

But the most important part was Paula and her family. They made our stay truly special and unforgettable. It was the best experience I had in Raja Ampat. From Paula’s mom’s delicious cooking to the constant warmth and smiles of the whole family, they made us feel at home and cared for. They always made sure we were enjoying our time and were comfortable.

They are genuinely kind-hearted people, and they made me feel like I had a family in Raja Ampat. The moments we shared with them made everything even more meaningful. I left a part of my heart in their homestay.

  • Our stay at Yengkris was wonderful and far too short (2 nights). Paula and her family’s warm welcome and kindness was present throughout our stay.

Paula has good English and she was very helpful with helping us plan our time at the homestay both before and during our stay. She took us birdwatching in the forest behind the homestay and she clearly knew the places and times the birds would visit the forest. She is also just a lovely person to chat to and hang out with.

Makan enak!! The food was so delicious at the homestay, with veggies, fish, rice and fruit for most meals. We would love the recipe for the aubergines so we can recreate it at home.

Injo nabor Paula, Mama, Papa, Aji, Sarah and Omen. We are grateful to have met you and we would not hesitate to come and visit again!

  • Dear traveler,
It took me 4 travel days to get to Raja Ampat. To my extreme relief staying at Yengkris Homestay was an extreme and way above my expectations experience of a lifetime. Both the location and family where magnificent and magical. They family was very cordial, helpful fun and truly amazing people. Each one of them make my stay at Yengkris the best it could be. I feel very grateful for feeling safe, healthy and happy during my stay. Maybe you too have traveled very far and have many questions as to what will await you here at this particular homestay but I assure you as a solo female traveler that this is a good wholesome incredible place to choose, so yes by all means stay here.

    Fun Yengkris facts:
Communication: Paula, aka: Big boss lady as I nick named her, because she is a bad ass amazing at managing this whole ordeal, is on point with communicating with you from start to finish, her eglish is very impressive.
Transport: it takes 30 minutes from Wasai to the homestay. The long boat has a lovely thatch roof for sun and rain protection. They cover your luggage with a tarp. All very nice details.
360 nature paradise: amazing snorkeling, amazing long BEAUTIFUL long beach, incredible jungle
Food: sweet bread for breakfast (i requested 2 boiled eggs for diving days), veggies protein and rice for lunch and dinner.
Water: filtered clean drinking water, shower toilet water pumped from aquifer. Note: never did I get sick to my stomach from the food nor the water. (I was a little nervous about this one before coming)
Facilities: humble and simple but always impeccably clean.
Medical and spiritual prognosis: I feel like years just shedded off, feel more relaxed than ever, I am a happy camper.

  • We stayed 3 nights at Yengkris Homestay—what an amazing start to our trip to Raja Ampat! Yengkris is a small homestay of only 3 basic bungalows with a shared toilet/bucket shower. Everything was kept clean, and the property and bay were trash free. The entire experience was peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. Simple home cooked meals for lunch and dinner, pastries for breakfast and snacks. The house reef was very good, and the family took us on a day trip out to Frewin Wall which was great as well. No wifi, but we were able to stay connected to a network on this part of the island. Overall, our experience at Yengkris was excellent, but try to avoid arriving on a Sunday if possible.

  • A very warm and welcoming family. Only three bungalows (a fourth under construction) at the end of the beach with a very secluded and peaceful feel. Parrots and cockatoos all around and a lovely warm and laid-back family. A magical place. Delicious baked items were very appreciated at 5 PM. Paula was very responsive in coordinating the pick up and her English is good. The property is kept very clean. The mattresses were shockingly bad and the sheets smelled strongly of mildew and no sink in the bathroom but I still give this place five stars for the warm welcome and the spectacular location.

  • We had a perfect relaxing couple of nights at Yengkris homestay at the end of our trip. Paula and her family were great hosts: ‘Papa’ drove the boat, ‘Mama’ cooked delicious meals (with snacks at 5pm and always a flask of hot water for tea & instant coffee), while Paula was the ‘go to’ for organisation, as she can speak English. Accommodation is simple and clean. The location is idyllic – on a tranquil beach with jungle behind. Nothing but the sound of the sea and birdsong. House reef very good for snorkelling. If you want peace and quiet this is the place! Thank you Paula and family! 🙂
The ‘Stay Raja Ampat’ team were also fantastic (thank you Yusril) in acting as go-between to help us organise logistics of getting from A to B. I needn’t have worried – it’s a great way to visit the area and would definitely use again.

  • We had such a wonderful at Yengkris, run by Nona and her lovely family. From the warmest welcome by the whole family when we arrived, the delicious and more than enough food, the extra afternoon snack, the beautiful spacious private beach, perfect for swimming, surrounded by palm trees, and an amazing house reef where we saw a turtle, blue spotted sting rays and reef sharks amongst others. The bungalows have porches with beautiful views over the sea. The shared bathroom is basic, but kept very clean as goes for the whole area. They make sure that everything is always filled up, cleaned up and they are always there when you need anything. We’re missing the place already!!

  • What a beautiful homestay and beautiful family. This was our number 1 homestay. Paula was a fabulous host and her family also. They all did everything they could to make us welcome and help us when needed.
They accommodated our daughters food allergies ( dairy and some nuts) which was so helpful. The food was tasty!
We went on a lovely inland day boat trip with Paula and her dad, beautiful scenery.
The house reef is really lovely too! A perfect last 5 nights in Raja Ampat.
Thankyou Paula and family. We had such a beautiful time

  • Best host family in Raja Ampat. Paula and her family are really kind, lovely, and they make sure your stay is pleasant.
The homestay is very peaceful, great place to relax. Beach is stunning and the coral reef is one of the best we’ve seen in Raja Ampat.
Make sure to bring your snorkeling equipment with you. Paula arranged a snorkeling trip to Friwen Wall and also the birds os paradise excursion.
Food is so good and they even give you a snack at 5pm (which we didnt see before in other homestays). If you bring snacks or any kind of food with you, put it in a plastic box if you dont want any visitors at night. We had not problem at all in this homestay :).
We were there just for two nights before we left Raja and was the best decision.
Highly recommended if you want to chill and do snorkeling in the house reef. If your plan is to dive, there is a dive center in a resort nearby, but you will probably have to book it advance.
Paula, Sara, daddy, mommy and Argy…TERIMA KASIH!

  • I give 5 stars to Yengkris Homestay without any hesitation, largely thanks to Paula and her family, who are happy to do their best to make you enjoy your vacation. Long sand beach, cleanliness, excellent food (even tea with a snack at 5 pm, which is not found in every homestay). The home reef with turtle is the best I’ve seen. Red birds of paradise in the jungle and 2 couscous in the neighboring diving resort. This is a small paradise in a big paradise called Raja Ampat. Terima kasih banyak Paula

  • I had a great time at Yengkris. Paula is a great host. She speaks good English and organised a snorkelling trip to Friwen and to watch the birds of paradise.
The food was really good. They even did a little bit of laundry for me.
The best thing about the homestay has to be the peaceful, sheltered beach that transitions into a lively coral reel. I saw a shark and a turtle and plenty of fish.
Would absolutely recommend a stay at Yengkris.

  • I really enjoyed my time at this homestay. It was my second stop in Raja Amapt and in some ways, it was my favortite spot.
While the house reef wasn’t quite as pristine as what I had experienced in Dayan (Batanta), I still saw PLENTY of marine life here including a sea turtle, reef sharks and even 2 dugongs, which was a real treat 🙂 It’s also a great place to see the red bird of paradise (in the jungle behind the homestay) and a wide variety of other tropical birds flying around nearby the homestay. If you’re an early riser, the sunset view from the porch of your hut is absolutely beautiful too.
Paula and her family are very friendly and sweet. They are very attentive to guests needs and work hard to keep things clean and make sure that everything flows smoothly. The food was always good and plentiful and the mattress was really comfy.
I definitely recommend a stay at Yengkris. I can’t wait to come back!

  • I stayed here for a week in mid April as a solo traveller. The whole family are so warm and welcoming, the food was one of the best out of the three homestays I stayed. While the set up is basic as it is out in this area, it was very clean and the whole family works hard to keep it that way including the beach. The home reef all along the beach is very good with lots of fish and the reef in good condition, with easy access from out front. This family is working hard to make a business from their homestay and you really won’t be disappointed in staying with them. Thank you for my wonderful stay.

  • We absolutely loved our stay with Paula and her family. In fact, we extended our stay from seven days to almost two weeks – it was the best decision! Most of all, Paula and her family are just the cutest and loveliest hosts we could have imagined. We did some exceptional snorkelling trips with daddy (Paulas Dad) and his girls (Paula, Betty and Doris) and always felt safe and looked after. The food is the best we had during our whole trip and there is plenty of it (fried bananas with chocolate sauce, freshly baked rotis!), also always a loads of veggies and fresh fish almost every day. Paulas mom made sure we weren’t left hungry once. Also, she did from time to time our laundry, sometimes not even asked for but always very much appreciated. She even fixed our snorkeling shirt when it was broken. The rooms are simple but clean and were tidied daily, as was the beach that is just gorgeous and leads right to the stunning house reef. We really enjoyed having the beach and a place where we could not only snorkel but swim easily. Friwen and Batu Lima are snorkel spots right around the corner and for divers there is the biodiversity eco resort right around the corner.
We could not have found a better place to start our trip in Raja Ampat and truely felt part of this wonderful family during our stay. We would definitely come back on our next trip!
Thank you all and lots of love <3

  • This was easily the best place we stayed in Raja Ampat. It’s close to the ferry port so it’s a great way to start or end your trip. I would suggest end so you can make the morning ferry the next day and have a perfect place to stay to finish your time in Raja. Paula and her family are so inviting and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and the bathroom is as good as it gets in any homestay. It’s the only place we found the food to be not only delicious but plenty of it. The beach is pure white sand meets turquoise waters with a thriving reef beyond. Gabe and Daddy (dad) where amazing tour guides and showed us a private tour of the birds of paradise. They let me use their traditional boat for some paddling. 100/100 thank you guys!!!!! – Charlie (Kelapa muda)

  • Yengkris was a true paradise. I loved everything about it.
Paula and her family are the sweetest and kindest people.
    The food was amazing.
I loved spending hours snorkelling on the house reef.
I asked them to go on a tour to Kabui Bay and Batu Pensil. They really went out their way to show me beautiful places, which were even further away (like The Passage). It was truly magical.
    Terimah Kasi!

  • We stayed at Yengkris Homestay for 7 nights and we were so, so lucky to find this place. The family was welcoming from the first moment we met them. Paula was there with her brother Gabriel who also speaks a bit of English, her niece Algi, and her parents who are absolute sweethearts and a delight to interact with even if they didn’t speak any English.
Mama and Paula cooked fresh food for lunch and dinner and it was delicious every time (rice, veggies, and chicken or fish). Breakfast was usually small but you could ask for extra and there was also a delicious snack in the afternoon and fruit with the meals. The three bungalows are simple (as expected), well-maintained and very clean. Mama regularly sweeps and tidies and does laundry even if not requested. The shared bathroom always had plenty of water and toilet paper and was very clean with a western-style toilet and bucket shower.
The sandy beach in front of the bungalows is stunning and the family does its best to keep it clean from plastic. There is a bit of sand before the reef which makes it good for swimming and the reef is perfect for snorkeling. You can see many fish, sharks, turtles, eels, etc. If you want to go scuba diving, Biodiversity Resort is a 5 minute walk along the beach. Paula and Daddy can organise boat trips to see birds of paradise, go snorkeling, etc.
We would 200% recommend this place and could imagine staying here again if we ever came back to Raja Ampat.

    Possono organizzare escursioni , abbiamo

Grazie !

  • Loved staying with Payla and family. Crystal clear water perfect for a refreshing swim. Beautiful beach. Nice bungalow and bathroom facilities. Nice snorkeling. Excellent cooking!! But most importantly this family is incredibly sweet and arranged great tours for me incl birds of paradise, yenbeser village, and I even went along for a fishing trip which was incredible. Can absolutely recommend.

  • Amazing homestay & Amazing family. We loved our stay at Yengkris. We stayed with this family 4 years ago & were compelled to come back again this month. The beach is idlyic, & a tree separates their bit of beach so it feels very private, with great snorkelling also. The accommodation was very nice and clean with a lovely balcony with hammock and chill area. The food was the best we have had at home stays in raja, different every night, fresh fish & chicken. The host even did our washing for us…! They also arranged an awesome birds of paradise walk with their uncle where we saw 2/3 birds of paradise dancing very close for 30 mins!

  • Such a kind and welcoming family. We experienced so much warm hospitality and love to details.
Once we have left our room they started to clean and tidy up and washed our cloth.

  • We reserved 3 nights and ended up staying another 3 because of how much we enjoyed this homestay. The family did everything to make our stay excellent and were incredibly kind and nice. We were the only guests at the time and actually the only guests outside of the Ressort on the whole beach.

They kept everything clean, including our clothes which they washed when we were away :). The food was great and there was even an afternoon snack to go with the coffee every day. It was also just really comfy. The birds of paradise trip was also worth it.

Finally, while I think other reefs are nicer, the snorkelling was still obviously great and we even saw a manta once. We will always remember seeing whales from our terrace several times as well. Spectacular.

  • We stayed 2 nights at Yengkris Homestay at the end of our 2 week adventure around Raja Ampat. We were warmly welcomed by Paula and the rest of her lovely family.

Our room was spacious and clean with a comfortable mattress and good mosquito net. The western style toilet and mandi were also spotless.

The meals were all lovingly prepared, plentiful and delicious, fish, chicken, veg and rice and they even provided a snack in the afternoon.

Yengkris is on a beautiful beach, great for a swim or long walk and the house reef out front is pristine. We saw a huge amount of fish and a big turtle. It was exactly the relaxing stay we had wished for to end our amazing trip. Paula and her family are great hosts, they are so friendly and keep their lovely little homestay spotlessly clean.

A big thank you to Paula and her family for looking after us so well, we will definitely be back on our next visit to Raja Ampat.

  • Wonderful place!!
Bungalows are on a quiet end of a sublim beach, lots of birds around, reef in front of the homestay is amazing, with beautiful corals, fishes, reef sharks, turtles.
The family could arrange trips, we especially enjoyed swimming with the mantas and watching paradise birds 🙂

Overall, we really felt welcomed and the family was so kind, it was heartbreaking to leave.
As mentionned, the food is delicious, and all the amenities are kept cleaned, mama washed our clothes which was super nice!!
We are looking forward to coming back 🙂

  • We stay at Yengkris at Feb 2020. without booking.

We walk along the beach to visit all the homestay at that area Yengkris was the newest. The bath room was spacious and bright, and toilet was so clean. Water was sufficient. Room was good, just in front of the beach. So we pick them.

It was a very nice experience!
Mama was so friendly. She cooked all the fresh ingredients for us. Papa was go fishing for us too. So, every day we enjoyed different meals happily.

Mama also wash our clothes when we were diving. That was so kind of her.

It was a real home stay feeling that we didn’t expect. Highly recommended.

  • Look no further, make a reservation now! It’s so hard to summarize our experience staying at Yengkris because it was just so perfect. First of all, the place is absolutely a hidden gem. It’s the closest feeling to having your own private island. Beautiful white sand beach with amazing house reef all to yourself. Don’t expect a resort amenities but everything is kept very clean, including bathroom, towels, bedding, food. Oh and the food…best food we’ve had in RA all prepared and caught right there. And to us those made this place really homey. In addition, the hosts, mama, bapak, and Paula made us feel so welcomed. Just like the other folks were saying. They treated us like family which was beyond excellent customer service. The only downside of this is that they don’t do any scuba dive trips. However if you’re looking to do some scuba dive, there’s a big eco resort on the other side of the island who can accommodate that so I guess there’s no downside at all. Just the book the place, you won’t regret it!

  • Even though we arrived without a booking, the family arrived within 30 minutes, welcomed us set us and up in a nice and clean bungalow, preparing a nice meal straight away.
The setting is lovely, very private feeling as the homestay is set at the end of a lovely beach.
We couldn’t have asked for a better start of our holiday.
Mattress on the floor, but clean and comfortable. No bugs or rats seen at all (even though we had some snacks). Chairs on the veranda and a self made lounger in front of the bungalow. Toilet facilities clean and water clean.
The food was lovely, plenty and much variety (fish, chicken, mie goreng, vegetables, cakes pancakes, fresh fruit etc). As we were the only ones there mama would bring breakfast to the bungalow as soon as she saw we woke up.
The beach in front is lovely and the family keep it nice and clean. The house reef was amazing, healthy coral to keep you entertained for days, right in front of the homestay. Friwen wall is right across and the boat can take you for very reasonable price. We preferred staying here as we found the house reef so nice. Lots of fish at the jetty nearby, and we saw murray eel, crocodile fish, turtles, reef sharks. Some jellyfish swimming to the right towards Yenros, but left towards Biodiversity resort was fine. (I would recommend a full suit as in general we found quit a few jellyfish this year)
It was our second visit to RA and we stayed in about 10 places, we can highly recommend this homestay as a start or end of your trip.
The family is lovely and really make you feel welcome, although dad and mom only speak a few words of English, they can ring their daughter if you need any help translating. The sheets and towels were changed after 2 days and mum even washed my clothes when I had hung them out ☺.
We cant thank you enough for your hospitality, it was a pleasure meeting you all. Inco nabore x
