Four bungalows occupy a secluded, west facing beach. All bungalows have verandahs with  unobstructed, panoramic ocean and sunset views. All bungalows sleep 2 on raised beds. Sheets, pillows, bolsters and mosquito nets are supplied, and bedrooms are equipped with room light switches and power outlets.

VIP bungalows have ensuite bathrooms. Private bungalow guests share two bathroom buildings. Each building has a western style toilet and separate bathroom.

Meals at Tanjung Mansuar Homestay are served in their beach dining room. There is a large dining table with bench seating. Free drinking water, hot water, and tea and coffee are available 24 hours.

Tanjung Mansuar Homestay receives a fairly strong and consistent 4G signal. Generator powered electricity is available from sunset until midnight.

Tanjung Mansuar homestay is quite isolated so be sure to bring any supplies you can’t live without. The village kiosks, accessible only by boat, sell very basic supplies of the kind used by local people.

Raja Ampat suffers from a total lack of safe and effective waste disposal and recycling infrastructure. Please limit what you bring with you and be sure to take all your inorganic trash away with you when you leave. You’ll be contributing to  the trashing of paradise if you leave it behind.

English is not spoken at Tanjung Mansuar Homestay, so bringing a translation app or phrasebook is recommended.

Coconut crabs: This protected species is unfortunately hunted and sold at some places in Raja Ampat. Please don’t buy any. Tanjung Mansuar Homestay will refuse to cook them for you and will insist you release them instead.

  • Spent 5 great days in Tanjung home stay on Mansuar. The food was delicious, fish, tofu, veg and fruit, and there was always plenty. The bungalow are large, have everything you need, and you have beautiful sunsets right in front. You can walk up the beach for a change of pace. The house reef right in front is minimal but is gets good the further you go on the right or the left. Right near the black buoy close to shore is a small brilliant blue anemone with clown fish that was very special, close to the 2 black buoy are 3 huge clam, lots eels, sharks, turtle, and we even saw a huge manta very close to the drop off on the far left side near the corner. The snorkeling trips are very reasonably priced, our favorite was Amoryg house reef, Sauwandarek jetty, Merpati reef. I would strongly recommend that they create a board with all their trips and prices (ideally with a map) to help guest plan their time at the home stay. I’m not sure if this was a one-off situation but while we were there, the fluctuation in the electrical power from the generator fried the 3 usb charger plugs we had. They were nice enough to give us two of theirs but I would not recommend charging high value items such as iPhones directly. All in all we loved our time here!

  • We stayed at the vip room and it was a very comfortable room. Nice sized bathroom and a spacious room with a large bed. And a very comfortable bed by the way!!
We applaud the drying rack and the closed in the bathroom.

    A big porch over sea.

The food was delicious!! Always enough and every day different. Fruit vegetables and delicious nasi goreng

She also was very proffesioneler about my dietary needs being a diabetic. She knew even better than I did the carb substitutes I could eat!!! And specially on y request I got my nasi goreng for breakfast since I cannot eat rice in the evening!

All in all a very pleasant stay

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Tanjung Mansuar.

I was put up in a very comfortable VIP bungalow with a porch overlooking the beach, a raised bed with a good king size mattress and, best of all, a clean ensuite bathroom at the back. Great.

Food was served in a nearby dining room with coffee and tea always available. Dishes were simple, nutritious and reasonably varied. I enjoyed tempeh as well as fresh fish, vegetables and fruit. Banana fritters for breakfast were especially yummy!

Located on the west side of the island, this homestay may seem rather remote. However, it is a perfect location for manta spotting at Manta Sandy just a 10 minute boat ride away. I swam with several manta, an extraordinary, unforgettable experience. Also the village of Sauwandarek is not far away by boat. This charming village offers really excellent snorkeling by the jetty.

There is a decent reef in front of the homestay but you need to study the tides to make sure the water is high enough to get you over about 40 metres of low lying staghorn and rocks.

Damarisa and her lovely family were very welcoming, always on hand if I needed any help. They did a great job making my stay as a solo guest a wonderful opportunity to unwind.

    Thankyou!

  • Tanjung Mansuar Homestay is an amazing place! The sunsets are indescribable. The snorkeling out front is great and the access to Manta Ridge is unbeatable. Fifteen minutes by boat and we were swimming with four HUGE manta rays! Fifteen minutes the other way and we were swimming with two sea turtles in the incredibly diverse reef in front of the village of Sauwandarek. Arborek is very close also but we preferred the reef at Sauwandarek. Beni and his daughter Damaris will take perfect care of you. Dama and her sister make great meals with plenty to eat. Dama did an amazing job of organizing our trips, which were very inexpensive because of the location. Her brother Ian has the Homestay next door and was happy to take us to Arborek and tried to find more manta for us on the way there and back. They are a very nice family, instantly smiling and helpful. You can’t beat this Homestay for a bit of everything that Raja Ampat has to offer. Also, 4G service for most of the day and electricity in the evenings.

  • We had a great time staying at Tanjung Homestay. The bungalow was very clean and food was outstanding. They had no problem with me being vegetarian. We were offered a snorkelling trip but we wanted to just go explore the reef surrounding the homestay on our own and enjoy some quiet time. We had the whole place to ourselves. You can enjoy a stunning sunset right from the veranda.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay! 🌴
The pick-up in Waisai worked perfectly — our driver was already waiting when the ferry arrived. Our tour guide organized everything so well from the very beginning and took care of every little detail.

We were welcomed very warmly with a fresh coconut, which was such a lovely start. The food was varied every day, fresh, and truly delicious. Our bungalow with ensuite bathroom was beautiful, very cozy, and offered the best sunsets right in front of our door. ✨

A big thank you to our tour guide: he really did everything to make us feel comfortable. He took us to amazing snorkelling spots and made the whole stay truly special.

We genuinely enjoyed our time here and can highly recommend this homestay! ❤️🙏

  • I spent three wonderful nights at Meos Ambower Homestay, and I absolutely loved my experience! I stayed in the first bungalow. My room was cozy and comfortable, featuring a double bed with a mosquito net and a fan.

The food offered was simple yet incredibly delicious, and I enjoyed three satisfying meals a day—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—served over water in the dining room. Additionally, water, coffee, and tea were always available whenever I wanted.

Nick, the host, was incredibly kind, organized, and spoke excellent English. He arranged all my pick-ups, took me on two unforgettable scuba‑diving trips, and also guided me to Piaynemo. I absolutely loved both experiences!

One of my favorite moments from the trip was simply sitting on the deck, watching the breathtaking sunsets and soaking in the stunning views. Right outside my room, I could see small sharks, turtles, and a vibrant coral reef teeming with colorful fish. These peaceful evenings on the deck will forever remain some of my best memories from Raja Ampat.

  • Got a really nice vibe staying here. The families were lovely and friendly, and the kids playing together helped give a good atmosphere on the island.
Some of the huts had missing steps in the ladders, but it’s still possible to get out of the water.
The facilities were as clean as can be expected with a shared toilet and mandi shower. They were currently building a second toilet.
There was plenty of great food.
No wifi, but there is cell service.
The water was crystal clear. Saw sharks and turtles by the house reef. No currents, good coral, and plenty of fish.
The families (including the kids) do their best to clear the trash that gets swept in.
    Nick spoke good English.
Really enjoyed a relaxing stay here.

  • Stayed the last two nights of our raja ampat trip there and it was a good time.

The island is tiny, even though local do not speak any english, they try to communicate via translator apps. Except from snorkelling there is no other trip activities. We spent the time with collecting shells, the food and sunsets which are facing the veranda.

The locals got us to Waisai, but it was very tight. They called the ferry and we entered the ferry from the speed boat and bought the tickets on the ferry ,glad that it worked well thanks to their connections.

  • Stayed for two nights and it was wonderful.

On the first day went snorkelling and second day visited Piaynemo. In between went snorkelling (they rent gear for free) in front of the homestay, the water was clear and enjoyed the fishes & corals. Also the local people like football if you like to play 🙂

Current flushes trash and the locals spend efforts to collect it. Wifi was not working and Nick helped to organize boat to another homestay. The toilet and bathroom is simple, but that was expected.

Dishes. basically rice, some fish and vegetables, were very tasty.

  • Nick and his family are wonderful and extremely helpful.

I had attempted to book diving with Pam Divers but couldn’t contact them as there was no service on the island. So Nick got in contact himself and arranged all my diving which was super kind.

The homestay was well laid out and food was good and plentiful.

Trash can be an issue in the water here due to currents passing through (we saw this everywhere on the Fam islands) – but Nick and his family do their best to collect as much as possible which is good.

Overall an enjoyable stay, and good excursions from this location to Pyianemo etc.

If you want to dive around here, i would recommend booking with Pam Divers who we found to be professional and safe with good equipment.

  • One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. I stayed here for 5 days in February. Quiet, cozy, calm and incredibly picturesque place. Manta Point is a 10-minute boat ride away. I swam with three mantas for half an hour – an unforgettable experience. The reef is right next to the shore. A wonderful and friendly family, it was very comfortable and pleasant to be here. I would gladly stay here for a couple more weeks. Delicious and varied food, I did not need anything. Very nice bungalows, I especially liked that there were woven rope hammocks, and not synthetic ones like in many other homestays. I really hope that I will visit here again someday …

  • Our experience with Meos Ambower was alright. We stayed only 2 nights and we did not regret not staying longer because we felt like we got a slightly lower-standard acccommodation than the other guests.
Our bungalow was located a bit further away than the main 6 bungalows. It did not have a ladder to acces the water, no soft covers for a sundbed and did not have a fan, while the other 6 bungalows were equipped with all those things. There is also no coral reef in front of the bungalow. In addition, since the bathroom is located close to the main accommodation, it was a bit of a walk from our bungalow (not so great, especially at night). We felt that paying the same price as the other guests and not getting the same facilities was rather unfair. If you get the main accommodation, however, your experience may be much better!

The food was tasty and enough for all. There were fruit and sweet afternoon snacks available daily.

There is no cell reception but there is Starlink wifi on the dining deck free of charge.

The coral reef in front of the main accommodation is not great by Raja Ampat standards but you can swim across the channel and find a nice coral wall there. The surrounding environment is lovely – there are a lot of birds, coconut crabs, monitor lizards and blooming orchids around.

  • We stayed for 2 nights in a little paradise.
The strength of Meos Ambower is the private island with no other homestays and a nearly virgin coast in front of the bungalows (on the main Fam Island).
Other upsides: great food (varied and abundant), very clean toilets and bathroom (shared), decorated alleyways, mattresses on the loungers on the bungalow terrace.
Nice little house reef (with few baby blacktip swimming), and possibility to do very quiet/private snorkeling trips.
No diving possibilities and limited choices in terms of snorkeling trips so would recommend for max 3/4 nights (if you are visiting other islands)

  • Good bed, large terrace that provides shade from midday. 2 loungers and cushions for them. Clean toilet and shower. Good, varied food. Starlink internet when there is electricity, usually from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Coconut crab hike at night, Manta Point and coral gardens not far away. Small reef under the dining room with turtles and reef sharks in the morning and evening under the bungalows. Reef on the opposite island very beautiful. Fishing possible from the dining room and beautiful sunset. Many thanks to Solei for his good care. Would go back anytime.

  • Overall i liked my 5 day stay in Meos Ambower homestay. Location is great, as well as the bungalows (mosquitonets need fixing). Large terrace with sunbeds from which you can often see daily visitors such as black tip reef sharks and blue spotted rays.

Staff is very friendly and helpful, we had some great nearby snorkeling trips and even saw mantas in mantas point.

First two or three days, food was kind of blunt and tasteless but last two days was fine. Maybe they ran out of spices of their main cook was somewhere else for the first three days…but it was always plentiful.

House reef is okay, not the best if you compare it to other places but on the other hand you have a lot of choices nearby, with just a short boat ride.

There is no current and you can also easily swim to the island across the canal. Also, there are a bioluminescent planktons in the night!

And you can also watch the sunset from the beach!

  • We enjoyed our 4 day stay at Meos Ambower. The location is a true dream and waking up above the sea with little sharks and fish is incredable. Meos offers affordable trips and the staff is friendly and helpfull. Realize you do stay at a remote place so expect the comfort which suits with that (no AC, mosquito’s, set times for electricity/wifi). Big plus was the mosquito-net, the just renewed washing building, and the fresh meals everyday!

  • I stayed 4 nights at end of November 2024. The family is very nice and the food delicious and varied. It is isolated and so it is quiet, peaceful, restful. The family available to boat me to the main snorkel spots around Mansuar. This island as with others, house reef means: around the shore it is sandy, sea grass & piles of dead staghorn looking corals, at lower tides it was easy swim out to drop off as currents mild, where corals & fishes are healthy and varied. At lower tides so you can see more on the drop off. The porches all have hammocks & giant bean bags for sunset & ocean views. Rooms have fans. Good air circulation in daytime when electricity off. Electricity on from 6pm to 10pm. My sim worked except when heavy rains. I would stay there again, if I was returning to W. Mansuar. As with all the islands factor in expensive boat trips. Sometimes negotiable but still expensive.

  • We loved our stay at Meos Ambower!
The house reef is nice, Nick arranged snorkeling trips in the area (manta point)
The food was nice, the bungalow too.
    Very peaceful island.
    Recommended 🙂

  • A really lovely place to stay in Raja Ampat: unparalleled sunsets, what feels like a private (and absolutely gorgeous) beach, lovely little cabin with a balcony, hammock and beanbags. The hosts were really helpful despite not having much english and cooked great food for us. The bed wasn’t very comfortable but for Raja Ampat I’d imagine that’s just what you get anywhere when we are so used to western comforts!

  • We stayed 5 nights in Meos Ambower. The homestay is beautiful, the bungalows are well maintained with raised beds and padded lounge chair on the deck which we enjoyed a lot. On high tide you can swim from your bungalow just onto the reef which is nice. The location is quite strategic to go to Piaynemo as well. You can also walk at night with them to see coconut crabs.
The food was great, quite diversified, with always the right quantity for everyone. We enjoyed staying a long time there !

Calme. Le homestay avec belle terrasse. Bonne nourriture. Super snorkling devant la chambre ! Accueil et gentillesse du personnel.
    Ravi de notre séjour.

  • The location is strategic for the trip to pyaniemo.
The food is good, very basic but tasty
There isn’t Nick, but Barto was a really good house guest!
We stayed 2 days less than our booking for a change itinerary; they didn’t refund us.
The coral and fish are not so impressive than other island in RA

  • Meos Ambower is beautiful, the bungalows are some of the most comfortable we stayed in with a padded lounge chair on the deck and a raised bed. The food was plentiful. We enjoyed the snorkelling at close by sites such as Manta Point, and particularly liked seeing the coconut crabs that are conserved there. The beaches on Ambower and surrounding islands are some of the most beautiful we’ve seen in Raja Ampat. The only downside was that they can be disorganised with boat transfers, sometimes they are heavily delayed or they don’t turn up at all. We recommend organising the boat with your previous and/or following homestay instead to avoid this.

  • An amazing place, beautiful location and view. I
We had a wonderful experience at Nick’s Meos Ambower Homestay.

As two women in there 20s travelling, we felt very safe to stay at the homestay.

The family was very helpful, caring and welcoming. The food was well provided and delicious. The pick up and drop off was very well communicated and Nick was very helpful host.

Thank you for the amazing time! Me and rosa will definitely return.

  • Meos Ambower is located in a breathtaking spot, the view from the bungalows over the water is stunning especially at sunset. There is beautiful coral and lots of fish right at the bottom of the bungalow. Piaynemo is close and the trip with telaga bintang, and 2 snorkeling spots is definitely worth it and less expensive than elsewhere. You can also swim around nearby beaches and sée coconut crabs at night.

Overall, it’s a very cosy place that makes you feel like home, being lost on a secluded island ! It also feels very private at the same time, as Nick and his staff are really discreet. The food is excellent and varied, with fruits and delicious afternoon treats which are an appreciated luxury 😉

There is electricity and the internet from 7PM. Our bungalow was a bit small but comfortable with a proper bed. There are stairs to reach the water easily from the bungalow. Above all, the beautiful terrace, with sunbeds and shells everywhere mâles it the best to relax and switch off. We would definitely come back there!

  • The Meos Ambower is beautifully situated in the middle of a breathtaking coral reef with no currents. Snorkeling trips to Manta Point, Pianeymo, Rufus Lagoon and Melissas Garden as well as the pickup from Waisai everything worked great. I stayed 5 nights there.
Nick organized it very well. The only drawback is that the shared bathroom urgently needs new wooden paneling. The two middle Bungalows need renovations as well.

  • Basic but sturdy over-water bungalows tucked into one side of a channel separating Ambower from the bigger island of Pam. The bungalows are over sand, which makes for beautiful turquoise water. They have steps down to the sea, so it’s easy to get in for swimming or snorkeling, whatever the tide level.

The bungalows are more basic than at some other homestays we visited, but they have cushioned(!) lounge chairs on the porches instead of the usual hammocks. Sand and salt blow in often, so it’s hard to keep the sheets and floor clean. (Unlike other homestays, they don’t give each bungalow a broom.)

This is the place to stay if you want to visit Piaynemo economically and snorkel the pretty reefs at nearby Rufas Island and Melissa’s Garden. A half-day outing to all three places cost 1 million per boat. We split that among seven guests (there was plenty of room for us in the homestay’s new covered dive boat), so we paid 150K per person—a bargain!

The large, open dining room sits at the end of a dock, so it catches all the breezes. The food is plentiful and good. The owners keep chickens, so there are egg dishes along with the usual fish, rice, ramen noodles, vegetables, and fruit.

There’s decent snorkeling in front of the bungalows and by the diving pavilion. Not such a diversity of coral as in other places, but lots of fish, including small solo blacktip sharks that hunt little fish in the shallows.

The bathrooms here are small (only one toilet room and one mandi bucket “shower” room for all the bungalows) and very rustic. They’re not dirty, but with very old weathered wood that is rotting away or coming loose in places. Maybe the homestay’s planned renovations in August 2024 will include the bathrooms. The bathroom building is near the main dock to the dining room, so it’s a longish walk from the farthest bungalows.

Trash is a problem at Ambower. All kinds of things (including plastic drink cups and bottles, empty snack packages, and plastic bags) are carried by currents and wind into the channel, where they wash up on shore. There’s not much to do except pile it up on land above the high-tide line so it doesn’t go back into the water and settle on the reef. (We took our own inorganic trash away with us.)

  • Nick’s accommodation was fantastic.
We really enjoyed our stay and spent 1 full week there.
We visited Piaynemo, Melissa’s garden, Manta spot the neighbouring island, we even saw lots of coconut crabs and reef sharks. The food was great and everything was well organized. Nick and his family are helpful with everything.
    Thank you!

  • I was one month in Raja Ampat and I visited seven different homestays. Meos Ambower was my absolute favorite one. My bungalow was spacious, clean and well equipped. The bed was the best I have seen in whole Raja Ampat with white, spotless clean and fragrant cotton sheets. The food was very good. It was always tasty and varied. Nearly every day fresh fish and different fruits were served. Even one afternoon freshly baked pancakes were served as a snack, that you normally can’t expect in a homestay.
The staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. Nick the owner of the homestay is a very nice host. He really cares of his homestay and tries to fulfill the wishes of his guests. I really appreciate that he is engaged in the conservation of the coconut crab. He collects coconut crabs of other islands and takes them to where they are safe from hunting. He offers night tours for watching coconut crabs. During the jungle walk you can be nearly sure to see coconut crabs of all sizes. I can also recommend the tour to Piaynemo with snorkeling off Rufus Island and in Melissa’s Garden. Transfers are also offered at fair prices.

Terima kasih Nick untuk waktu yang menyenangkan!

  • I want to start by saying that we would still recommend this place overall but we ourselves would have liked the following information beforehand. The natural beauty there is breathtaking and hardly anything can take away from that.

A minus for us personally was the bad distribution of the bungalow’s amenities. We got the oldest one with a mattress on the floor, a broken door and a broken ladder to the water, wooden walls that were flaking off and only one rockhard sun-bed. Others had a brand new bungalow with multiple tables and chairs a trash bin, a real bed and two sun-beds with mattresses on top. As we all payed the same price, this kind of left us feeling weird. We complained to Nick about the bed as we booked an elevated bed and already had bad backs from previous homestays. Surprisingly he actually had a bed frame built for us the same afternoon. That was very nice, thanks again! After all we liked our hut as we found ways to fix all our issues. However for the future the hosts should have the same services for all the bungalows or at least distribute them fairly or even have different prices. We also had to wait for the shower and toilet quite a lot as there is one each for the 15 guests during our stay. Another downside was the food – to us it was the least flavourful of the six homestay’s we‘ve been to in Raja Ampat.

On a brighter note they have good prices for the tours in the area as you can always share the big boat with other guests. This is the only homestay we’ve been where there is free wifi. Besides we would still go back as it’s the most beautiful location in terms of over water scenery and the weather there seems to be much better than in Gam.

  • We stayed at Nick’s for 4 days. The photos on the website are old: now there are six bungalows overlooking the sea and a seventh a little further away. The dining room is on the sea, very large and you can see the coral reef very well from here.
The bungalows are small, but they have everything you need. Towels must be requested a few times before receiving them. Bathroom and shower basic but clean.
Food not very varied, but still good. In the afternoon they also offer a snack!
The snorkeling in front of the houses is wonderful.
Nick and his brother Bartol are very helpful: Bartol accompanied us on the night tour in search of coconut crabs and, on New Year’s Eve, he provided beers and some fireworks. Super!
The prices for the trips around the island are cheaper than other island.
Only flaw: there are a lot of sand flies at dawn and dusk. My legs and arms are full of itchy bites. Cover yourself with oil to avoid them!

    Thank you Bartol and Nick!

  • Sandflies everywhere! Can’t escape them
Nick is systematically overbooking his homestay! In this way he can support his two sisters with guest at their homestays!
One of them lives in other island so it’s not very nice for someone booking months ahead and ending up on another island
The breakfast is mostly dry bread in the morning
Nick did not pick me up as promised from Arborek as promised and he also asked me to stay longer in Arborek because he was fully booked!
I had booked my room 6 weeks ahead!😕

    • So sorry to hear of this failure Rauno 🙁

Overbooking and accommodation substitution is neither nice nor acceptable. There is no excuse for it.

We are always contactable by email, and our booking confirmation emails also contain local support numbers for when things go wrong. If you had contacted us as soon as you became aware of the overbooking situation, we could have organised alternate accommodation or fully refunded you.

  • Excellent food and a strategic location. Nick is a pleasure to talk with and the homestay is well thought out with six bungalows lined up overwater along the channel. He’s recently reworked the homestay layout so that the dining room is now overwater where the family bungalow was and where a very large school of fish hang out. It has a killer view of the sunset and is just a great place to relax. Next time I visit, I’m bring a hammock and negotiate with Nick for a permanent spot to retire.

As others have noted, Meos Ambower is on its own island so your interactions are most likely limited to Nick and his brother Sunny who is also a gem. You’ll get occasional cameos from the kitchen staff who deserve kudos for excellent food.

Snorkeling is pretty good at the house reef – but better on the far bank of the channel maybe a 150 meter swim across which also provides access to a picture perfect stretch of sand. That said, I saw a 1.5m pyrosome (a type of sea squirt I’d never imagined existed) one afternoon and a large grouper the next all within a 2 minute swim of our bungalow.

  • The homestay run by Beni and his family
is constantly being modernized. Additionally to the five basic traditional bungalows with two mandi showers and separat toilets two new bungalows with inside bathroom were added recently. But the real improvement is the new dive shop “MANTASTIC” which opened beginning November. It is run by Yves, a powerful and always cheerful divemaster who also treats snorklers friendly and with attention.
This place is a real recommendation!

  • Beautiful quiet white sandy paradise place. Far away from the ever growing tourism places like Kri and Arborek.

Have booked 3 nights beginning of September and extended for 2 weeks because I liked it.

The owner Nick is a good guy. Calm friendly and ready to help where he can. Don’t hesitate to ask for anything that is not available at first glance. He may have it or be able to get it if going to Waisai.
Beer is a problem though since it’s prohibited in Waisai for a few years now. If you need a cold one better bring it from Sorong yourself.
The sisters are a little shy since they don’t speak a lot of english but the cooking is really good. Seems like there has been “standart menue” established in Raja Ampat Homestays but they do it very well.
Ask Nick for fresh fish (if there isn’t any anyway) and he’ll catch some.

Nicks boat during my stay equipped with a 1x 40hp and 1x 15hp backup engine.
Basic but safe. Therefore his pricing is really really fair compared to other places!
Still in windy season he drove me safely to Batanta Island for half the price others asked. What a ride.. Thanks again man!

Like most places electric power is only available from around 6 to 12pm.
Cell connection is pretty moody. Some days very strong, some days absolutely nothing, some days strong carryer signal but no internet connection and everything in between. Ever changing even throughout the same day.
Go there for digital detox, not for remote work!

Toilet and shower facilities are basic but clean and completely sufficient.
Shower water is clear with very little salt content if any. Unlike other places.

Nice little house reef right in front of the Bungalows.
Baby black tip reef sharks hunting below your bungalow at dusk and dawn.
Don’t miss snorkeling around the whole island. The east shore is amazingly intact, has the biggest single hard coral patch I ever saw, a nice little cave and a coral that looks like Star Treks U.S.S. Enterprise.. no joke 😉
North shore is nice sandy ground with rocks and good corals, the west coast reef was unfortunately devasted by weather.
Be aware of the currents on the north and west side though.

They put in effort to protect and raise coconut crabs on the island.
Don’t miss the night tour to see these impressive creatures.

The mandatory trip to Pyanemo is nice but I highly recommend snorkeling the west side of Rufas Island and climbing the outlook.
Melissa’s Garden is more a dive site than snorkeling since even at low tide it’s about 4-6m deep and currents can be really strong.

Nice was the experience walk around the village and to join the family for sundays church on the opposite island.

    Worth mentioning:
During my visit it was still windy season. The opposite island is shielding a little bit but there can be strong gusts since the place is facing south.

Unfortunately the island has rats lately, like most other islands do.
Don’t store food in your bags and the entire bungalow and they won’t border you!

During my stay there was some chainsaw logging going on on the neighbor island which was hearable depending on wind direction.

I highly enjoyed my stay and will stay again if ever back to Raja Ampat.
All the best for Nick and his family 🙏

  • Meos Ambower homestay has so many opportunities to explore. We swam around the island one day. We also swam to the island directly across from the bungalows and snorkeled and walked the beaches there. Nick takes you on very affordable snorkeling trips. He is very helpful and kind.
The food is simple, but good. Not a lot of variety, but tasty. At around 4 every day they make home made donuts. They were some of the best donuts we have ever eaten. They were warm and the perfect thing with tea after a swim around the island.
We would definitely come back here.

  • We stayed at Meos for 3 nights in late august. The place is very beautiful, food excellent and nick very nice! unfortunately we had to cut it short one night due to poor weather conditions (windy, rainy and big waves) which, unfortunately, seems to be quite common in August. I’m sure it is gorgeous in the right season! The island is the one of the best places in the Raja’s to spot coconut crabs and we had baby sharks hunting under our hut in the morning – very nice 🙂

  • We have just returned home and finished our unforgettable trip to Indonesia.

I am very lucky to live in Nike’s water vacation house, and we only stayed for 2 days to see the Valley Festival. But it is truly unforgettable.

The people living here are all very friendly. On my birthday, an Italian friend even gave me an unforgettable gift, a small epaulet shark (note! It is very precious, although it has died for unknown reasons, and everyone is sorry that this happened). The ecological protection here is very good, and everyone attaches great importance to one issue: protecting water resources and the ecological environment.
When we rode the wind and waves to this small island, we were captivated by the beautiful island.

At sunset, in the palm grove on the small beach, you can even find coconut crabs.

Nike is very friendly and provides exquisite food. Come on, although it’s a great journey to be soaked in seawater, everything is worth it!

  • I visited Meos Ambower in June of this year. Of the four islands that I visited in Raja Ampat Meos Ambower was my favourite. It was a wonderful place to stay. The overwater huts are basic but an absolute delight. The water at the foot of your hut is teeming with life in a never-ending display of aquatica wonder. There are schools of fish right at your feet with small reef sharks patrolling in the shallow water. There is a ladder into the water at the base of each hut for easy access to the coral reef. The coral reef extends along both sides of the channel which separates the island of Ambower from the main Pam island.
The snorkelling at Meos, especially on the far side of the channel, is exceptional and short boat trips to the nearby islands of an Andau Kecil will provide you with fantastic and rich snorkelling experiences.
Nick, your host at Meos is a wonderful guy. He gives you peace and space yet he is totally available for anything you want to do. Nick is reliable and extremely helpful. He will arrange for any transfers you may need as well as boat trips to snorkel at nearby islands, excursions to Pam island or the highlight of all, a boat trip to Piaynemo combined with snorkelling at Melissa’s garden. You can count on Nick to give you reasonable and fair prices for whatever you may want to do.
I travelled on my own to Meos and it was wonderful to meet other people there. It was good to enjoy the company of other travellers and to share in trips to Piaynemo and other snorkelling adventures.
Meos is the only homestay on the island of Ambower so you can immerse yourself in the total tropical island experience. Amazingly for such a remote location you have a good phone signal so you can stay in touch with the outside world if you need to. There is a path through the jungle to the other side of the island with a lovely little beach and views of Piaynemo.
The dining hut over the water is comfortable and spacious. Meos Ambower homestay provided the most delicious and abundant food of all the places that I stayed in Raja Ampat.
I would highly recommend Meos Ambower and staying with Nick and his family. It would be wise to book in advance as this is a popular homestay with lots to offer. It was a privilege to stay there and I hope I will return one day. Hearty thanks to Nick and all the family who were so gracious and accommodating.

    • Hi Artha thank you for your great comments, I really appreciate it, you help me to talk to the others guest about our trip and it’s amazing, many things that I want to say about you but you know my English not really good 😀😇 so I just want to say thank you so much for everything, stay save and have a good day.

  • For some reason my initial review of Meos Ambower was never published. Hopefully, this time it will go through.
I stayed 2 times with Nick, during a several week visit to Raja Ampat in January and February 2023. Of all the places I visited and stayed, Nick’s was my very favorite. The combination of great snorkeling opportunities along with Nick’s laid-back friendly and helpful disposition made it the only spot I returned to. Not the most glamorous, but definitely quiet, remote and beautiful, with the best proprietor.

    • hi David my bro, nice to see your comment hopefully to meet you again next time. King Regard Nick

  • My partner and myself spent 4 weeks in Raja Amat, and 5 days at Nicks and Meos, they were the best.
The house snorkelling was really nice. The best house snorkelling was found by swimming for 200m to the north east until you get to the corner and to a 14m droppoff, from there it’s really nice. Nicks snorkelling tours we’re really well price. All the places we snorkelled with him had amazing coral, abundant big fish life, and some really nice drop offs to freedive.
On the island were coconut crabs, lizards, and lots of cool birds.
Tho, it was Nick and his family made the place really special.
The food and accommodation were perfect.

  • Very expensive boat trips, but great places to go for snorkelling,
Lack of cool water was an issue, first thing in the morning and lunchtime only boiling hot bore water to drink, really not good.
Food unfortunately does not compare at all to the other 3 homestays we visited.

  • Spend 4 nights at West Mansour, the bathrooms were very clean, the bungalows were comfortable..must say the mattress wasn’t..great place for sunsets, prices for trips from there were reasonable and the family were lovely…very helpful! The food was Ok..not enough variable dishes..after you have stayed at Turtle Homestay..there is no comparison to most of the Homestays..other owners need to go to Turtle Homestay and see what food they are offering…especially for the breakfast which most HS’s have no idea.Admittedly Turtle is on Kri so not far to Wasai to shop! The house reef wasn’t great..but many places not far to take trips!

  • Unfortunately there was a lot of plastic in water and on the shore where huts are located. The local ladies cleaned plastin on front of their house, but did not clean in the area where the guests spent the day. It was a big dissapointment. Also, food was not enough, dining area was like a race stadium who will be the first and grab food, it is very uncomfortable. Definetely they should serve more food. Positive thing: the owner Nick is a nice guy, offers fair prices for transfers and trips. Nick was helpful.

    • i really apreciate your feedback, you said a lot of plastic but you dont do anything to clean it, you know we care about our place from plastic but every time we clean it and then come again and again, i think plastic its not our responsibility only but it is all of us in the world, so you dont said like that if you dont do anything. you know, i have another guest his name Andreas he come to me and show me the plastic and he said okay i will help you to clean every plastic in your place and then we clean all the plastic until 2 hours, coz he relize plastic is big problem in the world and needs our support to solf this problem with little action not talking only. so dont judge anyone if you dont do nothing.

  • Stayed at West Mansuar for 7 amazing days and loved it! Very simple accommodation but clean and comfortable with wonderful views. The family was rock solid, always helpful and friendly.
Yes the reef out front has suffered some storm damage however if you swim out to the dropoff and go either right or left you will find good coral, the fish are incredible everywhere (turtle, shark, octopus, box fish, rays and clouds of fish, all the colorful butterflies, angels, parrotfish and damsels) and the owner is always happy to take you to the many many snorkel sites nearby including the mantas.
Overall we had an amazing time. Thanks Beni , Dolly, Ian, Jack and Dora!

  • A simple place with nice bungalows and a very friendly and happy family. The food was very good and Beni and his son Ian were taking us to a snorkeling trip to the Mantas. The prices he charged for transport were higher than usual. One really sad thing about this place is, other then mentioned in the description, there is no more housereef. There is only rubbel left. There seems to be a divespot nearby but to far for snorkeling.
Thanks to Beni and his family.

    • Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Grischa and Nadine.

It’s unfortunate that you apparently only saw some near inshore storm damage to the reef in front of the homestay, and missed all the excellent snorkelling that remains beyond that.

To claim that “… there is no more housereef.” is very much an overstatement and is very damaging to your hosts’ business.

  • Meos Ambower is a hidden gem. Location is beautiful, good reef in front of cabins and within swimming distance you will find stunning places for snorkeling.
    Cabins are well built.
Food is Pabua style, simple but good.
Nick will support you to get wehre ever you want to go. We will be back if it will stay as it is now.
    Thaks for all,
    Chris& Ilona

    • Thank you Christian and illona for your time with me, you are nice couple that I know, hopefully you will come with your family in another time. Bye..🤗

  • We stayed at Meos in Jan 2023. You can expect beautiful views and sunsets, abundant coral and fish right outside your bungalow, as well as great food. Nick and Hermes and the rest of the family are friendly and accommodating and made our stay really enjoyable. Some of the best snorkeling we had in RA was around Meos and the surrounding islands. Thanks Nick! We will definitely be back 😊

  • Stayed here in August 2022. The most impressions are of amazing spectacular sunsets, not seen on other islands, owner’s hospitality, and good snorkeling. If you stay longer than us, the owner is ready to organise a track into the island, bird watching, and a small waterfall. Saw a manta, a turtle and lot of reef sharks. The conditions are basic similar to other homestays. All is clean, the place is very secluded and quiet.

  • I enjoyed my stay at Meos Ambower homestay, Nick is a good cook and always ready to help. My over the water bungalow was clean with a very good mattress, a good quality mosquito net and a nice breeze. There’s a fridge, I used it to cool my water. Nick took me on 2 snorkeling tours, the reefs had very good coral with lots of sea creatures. The house reef is good for beginners and intermediates. There are no dogs, so there are no fleas. Thanks Nick, maybe I will see you next year.

  • Top, Top, Top! We visited four place in RJ. This is absolutely the best place, if you are looking for quit place, wonderful sunset view, amazing long beach, very taste food and kind people. If you prefere calmly place with wonderful snorkeling, you must visit this. The huts are basic, with mattress on the floor. Amazing ocean view. Toilet and bathroom are clean and big. During the hide tide, water is under the chalet, you can see rays and baby sharks from chalet. The reef is very rich, you can see many big fish, sharks, turtles,… On the right side, next the mangrove, you can find a walking sharks. The beach is perfect, and very long. You can walk during the low tide. A lot of very taste food. At the end, owner, and his family are so nice. They do not speak english very well, so I recommend dictionary or google translate. We definitly plan to return. BTW. We were here in March 2020.

  • Raja Ampat, Indonesia is home to some of the most beautiful islands on the planet. There’s spectacular snorkelling and diving, and some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Isn’t it time you explored this secret corner of paradise?

I spent a few days on Meos Ambower Homestay😎 is one of the best places in which I was on Raja ampat, beautiful hidden and very private place.🌴 There was an amazing coral reef under the house,Not far from Manta point and Pam’s fabulous beaches.
Meos Ambower Homestay owners are very nice friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend Meos Ambower Homestay, I’ll be back in September 🙂🌴🦈

  • Beautiful colors of water beautiful corals n fish . U can call the owner nick to pick u up from nearby islands. He was a nice guide .

  • If there is no telecommunications, how do I make my next reservation ?
Can the homestay get in touch them and make it for me?
    Thanks,
    Christopher

    • Hello christopher dont worry there are two places where you can receive a weak 4G Telkomsel signal. Thanks nick sauyai (owner)

    • Please have a look at my review, one part is about the connectivity on the island:

„If you need internet connection, you don‘t need to worry. There are two places where you can receive a weak 4G Telkomsel signal. One spot is on the beach at the backside of Meos Ambower Island. You can walk there through the mangroves and the jungle in around ten minutes. The other one is just across the water channel on Pam Island, you can swim there within five minutes or Nick will take you there whenever you wish! Of course he will show you the exact places, in case you cannot find them by yourself. Nick can even put his modem with your Telkomsel SIM card and a powerbank over there during the night, so you can have proper WIFI at the terrace of your bungalow on the opposite side of the water channel too!“

  • We (2 couples) spent 7 nights in January 2020 at Meos Ambower Homestay and we liked it. The location is beautiful, quiet and the homestay was one of the cutest and prettiest we stayed in Raja Ampat. It was truly amazing and i`ve never felt so relaxed and comfortable.

Nick and his family are so lovely and the food was all the time excellent. Nicks sisters cooked for us, they fulfilled every wish and they also served a snack or a cake in the afternoon. They all really take very good care of their customers. If you need something or if you want to find some nice spots around, just ask and they are very happy to show you their life and their world. We had a very great time with them. They made us feel like their family.

The bungalows are new with a big terrace and they are very great situated over the crystal blue water. The washing water was the freshest we found anywhere. Beach is really beautiful, the jungle and the nature are all the time very present. The housereef left in front of the bungalows is very nice with beautiful corals.

Nick is a great host and an amazing snorkeling guide. He likes to show his surroundings and knows where to go. He also likes to go with his guests in the water to be sure you are safe. Our halfday-trip to Piaynemo was a highlight and Nick was taking us to all the best snorkeling spots around.
He shows us mantas close to the homestay, his home village and other interesting things. He is able to arrange any trip you like, all for excellent prices.

We really enjoyed staying there and were sad to leave the beautiful island.

Thank you for the good time with you! All the best to you and your family and we hope we will come back.

  • Nick‘s Meos Ambower Homestay was by far the best place where we stayed in Raja Ampat! If you are planning to go to Pam Islands, don‘t look any further! This is exactly the place to go! That‘s truly paradise!

The bungalows are all beautifully located above crystal clear blue water! Sometimes you can see sharks and cuttlefish directly beyond your bungalow. The snorkeling along the reef in front of the bungalows is nice too!

Nick‘s sisters are cooking delicious! It was our favorite food in all of Raja Ampat! My personal favorite was the eggplant in red sauce, so good, I miss it already! We never got the same dish again within a whole week of staying there. Thanks to your family for accommodating us in such a great way!

Nick will help you with every wish you may have, he is a great guy with such a nice personality! He is honest, interesting, smart and would never try to cheat you, like they do in some other places in Raja Ampat! Nick can organize pickups and dropoffs everywhere for good prices without trying to overcharge you. He will look for Mantas if you want to see them, so you will only go if they are really around. Sometimes you can snorkel with them and also with eagle rays directly in front of the bungalows! You can also join Nick whenever he goes to his village Saupapir, it‘s interesting to see too! It‘s cheap to visit Piaynemo from Meos Ambower! So it‘s a good option to stay there if you want to avoid the high costs of visiting Piaynemo from elsewhere.

Terima kasih banyak for everything Nick! We hope to see you again one day! It was awesome! We will never forget the awesome time with you at your beautiful island! If you will ever visit Austria, please let us know!

    All the best,
    Kevin

  • After 4 weeks at Raja Ampat, this place was one of the best. We spend on week and Nick, his sisters and all the others were so nice and friedly. The foot was excellent! So Nick hopefully see you again and thank you for all. By the way, the bungalows are quiet new and the view from the terrace is unbelievable!
    Hope see you soon.
