Details

Sehati Homestay offers seven private, over-water bungalows on Arborek’s southern shore.

Bungalow bedrooms sleep two on mattresses on the floor. Bedding for an extra two guests is available if required. Bed linen, pillows, bolsters and mosquito nets are provided, and multiple power outlets and room light switches are fitted.

The bungalows also have glazed windows and floor coverings. Unlike most other homestays, a cupboard is provided for hanging clothes, and a small table is also provided.

Bungalow verandahs are covered and have ocean views. Chairs, a hammock, and a recliner are provided on the verandahs.

Meals are served in Sehati Homestay’s over-water dining room. Free drinking water and tea and coffee making supplies are always available there for guests. Like all homestays, Sehati serves local style food, which always contains rice and vegetables with fish, egg or chicken. If you are vegetarian or have special dietary needs, please be sure to let your hosts know when you meet them.

Guest share a three-room bathroom building. Two rooms provide dip mandi (bucket) bathing. The third room houses a western-style toilet.

Electricity is a combination of village supply and solar panels and is usually available 24 hours per day. Telkomsel’s Arborek tower provides a strong 4G signal.

There are shops in the village that sell food, basic supplies and cold drinks, but (as everywhere in Raja Ampat) there’s no effective waste disposal or recycling available. If you don’t want to contribute to the trashing of paradise, please take all your inorganic waste away with you when you leave.

Only a little English is spoken at Sehati Homestay. Do consider bringing a translation app or phrasebook to ease communication.

Transport / Getting there

Transport between Waisai and Sehati Homestay is by longboat and costs IDR 1,500,000.

The cost is shared by passengers (3 max.)

Activities

Diving and snorkelling

Sehati Homestay guests can contact Arborek Dive Shop to book diving. (Book ahead! Arborek Dive Shop is popular and often fully booked.)

Be sure to bring snorkelling gear, as the waters beneath Arborek’s jetty and the reefs off the island’s eastern end are special. Arborek is also the closest accommodation to the famed Manta Point and Manta Sandy sites where you can dive or snorkel with mantas.

Arborek village often mounts cultural performances, and production of handcrafted souvenirs is thriving. Sehati Homestay can organise boat trips to any sightseeing or snorkelling sites you might want to visit, and Arborek is small enough that you can easily drop in to the other homestays to find travelling companions to share costs with.

Piaynemo trip

Viewpoint sightseeing and snorkelling trip: IDR 1,500,000 per trip, shared by participants (3 max)

  • Everything was perfect! Nice huts, food was great. We would come here again! 🙂

  • We were overbooked. What bothers me was the owner didn’t tell us so until we arrived at the homestay, though we communicated with the owner the day before and in the morning of the day of check in.

The owner quickly proposed to stay at a different homestay that he also owns, which we found more preferable because it was much quieter and private with only two overwater bungalows facing west for a fantastic sunset, in contrast to Sehati’s overcrowded, noisy environment with minimum privacy. With a complimentary manta trip that the owner also tossed in, we were happy to accept the substitute.

Yet, overbooking is overbooking. This I give 2 stars.

    • Overbooking is indeed overbooking, and we’re sorry to hear it happened to you Nb.

Room type substitution is unacceptable, and Stay Raja Ampat will refund guests for every night they have to spend in a bungalow that was not of the type they paid for.

All you need to do is contact us as requested in your booking confirmation emails when you discover the issue, and before leaving the homestay.

  • Perfect place to stay in Arborek. Beautiful cabins, good food, toilets always clean. Only slight negative is the comfort of the bed.

  • We had a great time in Sehati homestay. The room was cozy and clean and we loved the view from the balcony. The toilets were always kept clean. The food was delicious too. Snorkeling around the island was unreal! The people in the village were all very friendly and welcoming too. What a spot!

  • I recommend this homestay.
    – Very pleasant place to stay
    – Exceptional location with access to a jetty (memorable snorkelling)
    – Well-prepared meals
    – Electricity in the rooms from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
    – Good internet access with a sim card
    – The “balconies” are equipped with a chair, a hammock and a deckchair
    – Shower head in the “bathroom”

    A few points for improvement:
    – Limited English.

  • We stayed 2 nights in Sehati – the ambiance is nice – the room are ok but not so clean – the food is very basic and not yummy comparing to some other homestay in different island – we did a fishing tour which was very nice and they’ve cooked our fish for the lunch ! Otherwise is ok for few nights and the location is good. Few people are speaking a correct English which is nice !

  • We came in Sehati in May and we really enjoyed our stay. The bungalow is really basic but new, clean and we felt that the hosts pay attention to the details that make the difference (place to hang your clothes on the balcony, fan, decoration, mirror). The food is very good and plenty.
The hosts were also nice and attentive.

We would just recommend to adapt the description on stay raja Ampat website because it is not 100% accurate :
    – Electricity is available from 6PM to 7AM and not 24h
    – Water is available when the pumping is activated. We took all our showers with bucket, not with « western shower »

Then I got help by a dauhter to move my stuff to the next homestay on Arborek. I loved Arborek and will definitively stay at Sehati next time.

  • Sehati is an excellent homestay in Arborek. During our stay in Raja Ampat we have stayed in several homestays and we can say that Sehati is the best, where we have felt most welcomed and cared for. They have well-maintained traditional bungalows over the sea, in an excellent location. We also want to highlight the abundant food cooked with great care. The family is very welcoming and willing. If we return to Raja Ampat, which we will, we will not hesitate to repeat. Thank you!

  • We stayed at Sehati for 3 days in december 24. The homestay bungalows are nice and clean. The food served is varied and tasteful, and the host is very friendly. Also; right under the bungalow we saw barracuda, batfish and scools of small fish. The pier next to the guest house is instagrammable, and a good vantage point for the reef snorkeling. We also booked snorkeling trip to Manta point and Manta Sandy and were pleaced with that trip
