Details

Par Fray Homestay has three private, over-water bungalows on Arborek’s southern shore.

Bungalow bedrooms sleep two on mattresses on the floor. Bedding for an extra guest is available if required. Bed linen, pillows, bolsters and mosquito nets are provided, and multiple power outlets and room light switches are fitted.

Bedrooms also have a small table and an electric fan.

Bungalow verandahs are covered and face west for sunset views. Chairs, and a table are provided.

Meals are served in a tile-floored dining room. Free drinking water and tea and coffee making supplies are always available there for guests. Like all homestays, Par Fray serves local style food, which always contains rice and vegetables with fish, egg or chicken. If you are vegetarian or have special dietary needs, please be sure to let your hosts know when you meet them.

Guest share a four-room bathroom building. Western style toilets, bucket bathing and showers are provided.

Electricity is a combination of village supply and solar panels and is usually available 24 hours per day. Telkomsel’s Arborek tower provides a strong 4G signal.

There are shops in the village that sell food, basic supplies and cold drinks, but (as everywhere in Raja Ampat) there’s no effective waste disposal or recycling available. If you don’t want to contribute to the trashing of paradise, please take all your inorganic waste away with you when you leave.

Only a little English is spoken at Par Fray Homestay. Bringing a translation app or phrasebook would be best if you don’t speak Bahasa Indonesia.

Transport / Getting there

Transport between Waisai and Par Fray Homestay is by longboat and costs IDR 1,200,000.

The cost is shared by passengers (4 max.)

Activities

Diving and snorkelling

Par Fray Homestay guests can contact Arborek Dive Shop to book diving. (Book ahead! Arborek Dive Shop is popular and often fully booked.)

Be sure to bring snorkelling gear, as the waters beneath Arborek’s jetty and the reefs off the island’s eastern end are special. Arborek is also the closest accommodation to the famed Manta Point and Manta Sandy sites where you can dive or snorkel with mantas.

Arborek village often mounts cultural performances, and production of handcrafted souvenirs is thriving. Sehati Homestay can organise boat trips to any sightseeing or snorkelling sites you might want to visit, and Arborek is small enough that you can easily drop in to the other homestays to find travelling companions to share costs with.

Par Fray Homestay can arrange any kind of excursion you would like to do. See the table below for some popular options

  • Par Fray was the last homestay we stayed at during our three week trip in Raja Ampat. Based on the reviews, we hoped this would be one of the nicer places on Arborek, but we were a little disappointed. The owner seemed a bit uninterested, and this was reflected in several aspects of the stay. The bathrooms were not cleaned during our visit, nor were the buckets used to rinse your feet and keep sand off. The photos show that each hut has a small tank with fresh water, but these were not there either.

The food was okay, but overall the place gave the impression that more care and effort used to be put into it, and that this has declined over time. With some renewed attention and upkeep, this could be a pleasant homestay again, but at the moment there are better options available on Arborek.

  • We stayed 3 nights and the bungalow was fine. Even if the bed is on the floor, it was very comfortable and we had very good nights. The bathroom building was new and clean. Benoni and his family are very friendly. The food was pretty good. The village is very pleasant as well as the snorkeling around the island, next to the jetty.

  • Super moment très belle équipe.
On a adoré être ici. Notre fils a été reçu comme un roi. Merci a ormandira

  • I spent 5 nights at ormandira homestay. I really liked the large bay where there is a good coral reef on the right at the end of the beach, where there are plenty of fish in the center of the bay there is also a good coral reef in the form of large rocks covered with hard corals. You can always see large Napoleon fish, turtles, reef sharks and cuttlefish.I even swam with manta rays once. The bay itself is quiet and there are no big waves and currents, and you can swim all day long. The food was good, fish and fruits were always provided. Slava.

  • Arborek was the first stop in Raja Ampat. And it was Amazing!
I was there for New Years Eve and the beginning of January.
I spent 4 nights, I extended my stay with one night but I wish I could stay there much more.
The water bungalow was new and clean, with a great view towards sunset, toilets were always clean and the food…the best I had in Raja Ampat! Always fresh and very tasty, fish for both lunch and dinner, plus desert or fruits. I complimented the lady chef every single day. I felt so spoiled.
The host is a very nice guy, we organized a trip to Piaynemo, Melissa’s Garden, Rufus island for a very good price.
Btw, I saw 0 rats around the island and all dogs are friendly.
The entire place is very clean considering how difficult is to manage trash in such a remote place.
We followed the recommendation on stayrajaampat.com to leave 0 plastic behind during the entire stay in Raja Ampat.
All I can say is that I wish to come back there soon.

  • We really enjoyed the stay at Par Fray Homestay. The houses are new and fully equipped inclusive key and lock for the doors. The food was awesome and too much to eat. For a daytrip they prepared us a very nice lunchbox included watermelon. Also a hammock on every terrace is avaliable. At the Moment there are two overwater bungalows. A third one is in the making. We loved to stay and enjoyed Sunset on the terrace. We could see Baby blacktip and nurse shark just in front of our terrace. We would love to come back again.

  • Great place to stay! Here you get the best sunset of Raja Ampat. The food is good and you get snacks. They also arrange (snorkeling)trips to all the famous spots which are nearby (Rufus, Piaynemo, Melissa’s garden etc.) and for affordable prices.

The cabin was also really big and very clean. The matress was soft and we slepy very well!

  • Ormandiro Homestay is located on a narrow stretch of the Piaynemo island, making it a central point to visit nearby dive and snorkel sites as well as the viewpoint.
The sunsets are truly beautiful and you are on your own, very quiet and secluded. While we had more variety in other homestays, the food was pretty good and there was everything needed.

The family was quite by themselves, so we didn’t get greeted or so and had to bond step by step, mostly through the sweet kids who were more curious about us. But pick up at Sorong was reliable and everything else worked too.

We spent 3 nights here, which was a great amount of days to explore the beautiful house reef on the West side, Rufas island, Piaynemo viewpoint, Melissa’s garden and more.

It was easy to organise these trips even though the family speaks no English. They do have an English – Indonesian translation app. They organised with us a dive at Melissa’s garden through Gloria’s homestay (divecenter) with no issues. Our guy from the homestay was our diveguide, which was absolutely fine.

  • I have been at 3 different homestays around Raja and Par Fray by far the best. The food is the best I’ve had in indonesia. The family very nice. The location- unobstructed view of sunset from the porch hammock.Electricity & fan all night is wanted. Easy to walk the island barefooted, especially to the jetty where the giant clams are. And to other homestays to share boat rides. Aborek has one awards for being most clean island. Strong cell signal as the tower is there. Overall Aborek is very pleasant, Par Fray superb.
