Details
Ormandira Homestay is a remote hideaway on the narrow strip of land that joins the northern and southern parts of Pulau Piaynemo.
Four private bungalows sit among the trees between an open ocean beach to the west, and a mangrove-fringed calm lagoon to the east.
The bungalows sleep two, and bedding for a third guest can be provided if needed. Ormandira Homestay is working toward having raised beds in all bungalows, but in March 2024, bedding in some bungalows were still mattresses on the floor. The usual bedding and mosquito nets are supplied, and all rooms are provided with a small table, electrical outlets, and room light switches.
All bungalows have covered verandahs equipped with chairs and a small table.
Meals are served in a dining room that has views to the lagoon and islands to the east.. Free drinking water and tea and coffee making supplies are always available for guests there.
Guests share a two-roomed bathroom building. A squat toilet ocupies one room, and dip mandi (bucket) bathing is available in the other.
Only a vanishingly weak 4G signal is received at Ormandira Homestay. Guests should expect to be offline and uncontactable. Electricity is supplied by generator and is available from sunset to around midnight.
Only a little English is spoken at Ormandira Homestay, so bringing an offline translation app or phrasebook is recommended.
The nearest village is Saukabu, which is about a ten minute boat ride away. Be sure to stock up with anything you consider essential, because local villages only have basic supplies available.
Safe rubbish disposal is unavailable on any of the Raja Ampat islands, so if you want to avoid contributing to the trashing of paradise, please take all the inorganic waste you create away with you when you leave.
Transport / Getting there
Transfers between Waisai and Ormandira Homestay are by longboat which can carry up to 4 people.
The trip cost is IDR 2,500,000 and is shared by passengers.
A transfers for 2 people to Gam cost IDR 1,500,000 (shared).

Public Boat to the Fam Islands
If you have plenty of time, you don’t mind a bit of discomfort, and you want spend as little as possible on transport costs, then there are cargo boats that you can use to get to the Fam Islands. (Obviously, if you are going to arrive on the cargo boat, then you don’t need to request a Waisai pickup when submitting the booking form above.)

Bring snorkelling gear!
There are a host of excellent snorkelling sites within a short boat ride of Ormandira Homestay. Fam Wall, Batu Rufas, and the Andau Mantas are just a few of the many popular options.
Diving can be arranged with nearby Lagoon Homestay. (If you want to dive every day, then it would be best to stay at a place with an on-site dive center.)
Longboat visits to Piaynemo (including entry fees) cost IDR 500,000 (2 pax)
Piaynemo visit plus snorkelling at Batu Rufas cost IDR 800,000 (2 pax)
Sightseeing
Village visits can be easily arranged, and the much-photographed Piaynemo and Star Lagoon viewpoints are nearby.

Unfortunately we had an unpleasant surprise when we got there. The beach was completely covered by the plastics. They were clustering the trash in big piles and burning it.
The only choice left for us was to pack back and leave.
It was a pity that we were not advised in advance. If they told us BEFORE we embarked on a 2 hour journey with their small boat, we could have found a solution. Instead, I had to pay them to drive me to Piaynemo and back, plus I lost all my booking money.
Unfair.
It’s sad that you were inconvenienced by something that your hosts have no control over, and that they were doing their best to clean up for you.
Marine plastic is like bad weather: It’s arrival on beaches is unpredictable, and it is not reasonable cause for a refund.

Nice remote place. Unfortunatelly many plastic garbage on the beach. Good food, Nice people with children. I recommend the place to have quality time reading and looking landscape

L’endroit est vraiment magnifique, avec des coquillages partout et une ambiance calme. La nourriture est excellente, et les goûters servis à 17h sont variés et toujours délicieux !
La plage est privative, où vous pouvez nager et observer des requins et des tortues en supplément.
Nous avons séjourné à trois dans un bungalow, ce qui était parfait. Cependant, il manquait la salle de bain/toilettes que nous avions pourtant payée avec la chambre. Malheureusement, celle-ci n’était pas terminée.
Les locaux sont très attentionnés et aux petits soins. L’emplacement est idéal, proche du point de vue et de Rufas.
Les enfants sont adorables également !

I spent 5 nights at ormandira homestay. I really liked the large bay where there is a good coral reef on the right at the end of the beach, where there are plenty of fish in the center of the bay there is also a good coral reef in the form of large rocks covered with hard corals. You can always see large Napoleon fish, turtles, reef sharks and cuttlefish.I even swam with manta rays once.The bay itself is quiet and there are no big waves and currents, and you can swim all day long. The food was good, fish and fruits were always provided. Slava.
I spent 5 nights at ormandira homestay. Great place to stay! Here you get the best sunset of Raja Ampat. The food is good and you get snacks. They also arrange (snorkeling)trips to all the famous spots which are nearby (Rufus, Piaynemo, Melissa’s garden etc.) and for affordable prices.
The cabin was also really big and very clean. The matress was soft and we slepy very well!

The sunsets are truly beautiful and you are on your own, very quiet and secluded. While we had more variety in other homestays, the food was pretty good and there was everything needed.
The family was quite by themselves, so we didn’t get greeted or so and had to bond step by step, mostly through the sweet kids who were more curious about us. But pick up at Sorong was reliable and everything else worked too.
We spent 3 nights here, which was a great amount of days to explore the beautiful house reef on the West side, Rufas island, Piaynemo viewpoint, Melissa’s garden and more.
It was easy to organise these trips even though the family speaks no English. They do have an English – Indonesian translation app. They organised with us a dive at Melissa’s garden through Gloria’s homestay (divecenter) with no issues. Our guy from the homestay was our diveguide, which was absolutely fine.
