Details
Nyanse Homestay is located on the sealed walking path between Sawinggrai and Kapisawar villages on Gam.
Five over-water private bungalows are accessed by a boardwalk that extends out beyond the mangroves that line the shore.
Bungalows sleep two on raised beds. Mosquito nets, bedding and towels are provided. The bungalow bedrooms are fitted with ceiling fans, light switches and power outlets.
Covered verandahs with tables and chairs provide ocean views.
Meals are served in Nyanse’s over-water dining room, and drinking water, tea and coffee making supplies are always available there for guests.
Nyanse Homestay guests share a two-room bathroom building that located amid the mangroves, and is accessed via the boardwalk that connects the homestay to the shore. One room houses bucket bathing and a shower. The other has a slightly raised squat toilet.
Nyanse Homestay receives a strong 4G phone signal. Electricity is supplied by a generator which runs all night..
It’s a five minute walk from the villages of Kapisawar and Sawinggrai, where basic supplies can be purchased, and good snorkelling can be had from the jetties.
Please do take any inorganic waste like plastic or dead batteries away with you when you leave: There’s no safe method of disposal for this kind of trash in Raja Ampat, and leaving it at the homestay will only contribute to Raja Ampat’s growing pollution problem.
English is spoken at Nyanse Homestay.

Activities
Diving and snorkelling
Diving can be arranged in association with Arborek Dive Shop. Neighbouring village jetties provide easy places to enter the water for great snorkelling along the reef dropoff. If you're a competent swimmer, you can drift with the tide from a village jetty back to the homestay. Bring your own snorkelling gear.
Snorkelling and sightseeing tours
Nyanse Homestay can provide any kind of tour you want, including day trips to the Wayag islands.
Walking sharks can be observed from the homestay verandah at night and the fringing coral reef drops into dark blue depths 30m from the homestay’s door. A nice shaded swimming beach can be found at the village of Kapisawar, an easy walk to the west. The homestay’s mangroves shelter hordes of juvenile fish and nudibranchs and archer fish and walking sharks are common inhabitants.
Concrete walking paths connect the village of Sawinggrai with Kapisawar and provide the opportunity for easy walking in the shade of coconut palms to experience Pulau Gam village life. The nearby jungle is home to a wide variety of animals including Red Birds of Paradise, which can be seen displaying nearby at Sawinggrai.

Very friendly family. The food was excellent and we enjoyed our stay very much. We made a snorkeling tour and this was also perfect.
Thank you Ferdinand very much and of course your family and team.
Stay 4 Feb- 10 Feb single person
I had a wonderful experience at this Homestay. The food, accommodations, cleanliness, but most of all the kindness of the family members.
Food 5 star. There was variety, they were thoughtful about me requesting no fish, it was served on time in a clean area. Little things like an area to wash your hands before eating was provided.
Cleanliness 5 star. The property including the bathroom/shower area was clean with TP available. The bungalow was clean and I did not experience any 4 legged unwanted guests. Thankfully, the water also didn’t have floating garbage.
Facility 5 star. It has comfortable, basic furnishings. Mattress great, clean good smelling sheets, provided blanket and towel. Even water pitcher in the room. Nice touch.
Family host 5 plus plus stars. I was picked up promptly in Wasai. Greeted. Asked if I needed anything or wanted anything. Arranged snorkeling tours 3 of the days taking me to see beautiful marine life and coral. Tours were on time with Kamper who pointed out creatures I certainly would have missed otherwise. Such a jewel of a man. The final act of heroism from Kamper was my transport. We Arrived at next place only to be told they were full. No cellular service to translate but Kamper mastered enough English to explain situation to me and modify arrangements before he left me.
HORRIBLE !!! Our experience in Nyance Homestay was literally horrible – I just can’t recommend this place and the people there. The guy canceled our stay the same morning we were supposed to arrive – we explain him we couldn’t canceled so he put us in an other homestay that was actually closed – so no food – the water of the shower was smelling and so one… then the next day we arrived at Nyance Homestay we’ve booked a excursion to watch the bird of paradise, we woke up at 4:30am and where ready at Nyance at 5am as recommended – the owner was sleeping and then cancelled the excursion – we’ve booked an other excursion for the afternoon – when we arrive sat the time of the meeting the owner cancel our excursion again saying he doesn’t have the boat even if we booked the excursion the day before anyway we are stuck on the island with nothing to do – and no one comes in Raja Ampat to not enjoy the area we managed to find a guy that will drive us around Gam island so we can visit – when the guy arrived the owner of the place loose his shit he became so agressive and ask us to check out – we tried to talk to him but he was literally screaming and running away after few minutes he apparently apologised (not to us directly) but we felt so unsafe that we decided to leave anyway – the driver of the boat was so scared of the owner he didn’t wanted to come back to this place ect. I want to thank the customer service of stayrajaampat because they’ve found us a little paradise in last minute – and they’ve refunded all our nights in Nyance – they’ve been very good and fast and caring to us that’s the only good thing I can say about this stay. Also the excursion are SOOOO expensive do not book anything there and to finish the food was not good…. That’s only my experience :/

Back again at Nyanse Homestay after one year. Still the perfect place to stay if you look to live in a homestay run by a local family. They are just wonderful, welcoming people and give you an insight in their life. The homestay is clean and we enjoyed the breeze on our terasses watching the sinsets. Ferdinans tours are the best way to see the secret nature and snorkel spots around. He knows the place and does everything for you to see Raja Ampats treasures. Food is exzellent with lots of variety and always fesh fruit and vegetables. At Nyanse you come as guests and leave as a part of the family!
We all hope to come back-we will miss everyone at Nyanse homestay. Thank you for making our stay as great.

We went travelling for 4 weeks through Raja Ampat and visit several homestays.
Nyanse was one of our favorites! We visited in March this year.
The hosts are a great and warm family.
We also had a nice dance evening with the family and other tourists who were on the homestay.
We had a nice hammock and a great daybed by our house on the water.
The food is really good and there are two villages on walking distance.
The Coral Reef in front of the homestay is nice
The bird of paradise tour that we did was a little disappointing.
Overall we recommend this homestay

Nice homestay on the water surrounded by the mangroves. We went on the walk to try to see the bird of paradise, no success maybe cus we were with another 20 people. We made a great trip with Ferry to snorkel! Rather high prices for the trips but besides that a very comfortable, nice homestay with friendly family.

We stayed at Nyanse for five nights and had a wonderful time. Nyanse has a lovely spot to view glorious sunsets and enjoy peaceful ocean views. We were made to feel so welcome and the family looked after our every need. Lovely food, great snorkelling and birds of paradise right behind the homestay if you ask for a guide. All in all a fabulous place to find harmony in Raja Ampat.

We had a fantastic stay at Nyanse Homestay. The owner and his family are super friendly and the food is absolutely amazing. The location is private but just a short walk to the village where you can visit the school. You can ask the owner for a tour to see the birds of paradise (we weren’t lucky but it was worth it anyways).

I loved my stay at Nyanse. The family was so wonderful and fun. I’d recommend snorkeling at Manta Point which Ferdinand (the host) can organize.
Alvaro (Ferdinand’s son) also helped with tours and translating. Ferdinand’s extended family also helps care for you during your stay, cooking delicious food and ensuring that the bathroom and jetty are very clean. I had varied fresh fruit (sometimes pineapple, mango, banana) with every meal. By the time I left after 3 days, I felt like a part of the family.
The overwater bungalows during high tide are beautiful with anemone, giant clam, many fish.
I enjoyed my stay very much, and I’d highly recommend staying here.

This is our 4 homestay and really the best! We stayed for 3 nights with this absolute lovely family and could easily stay longer if we had time. First of all we got the warmest welcome from the whole family when we arrived and their kindness was just incredible throughout the whole stay. English is spoken by several family members. We got excellent and plenty of food everyday which they announced and didn’t put it just on the table like others do. The room was nice and spacious and all very clean. Typical buket shower and toilet but always perfect, soap and toiletpaper provided.
We did amazing tours with Ferdy, the host. Best snorkel where we have seen many mantas, we also did the birds of paradise tour, and we saw one with a glimps but the tour was nice anyway. We also did another snorkeling tour. Fredy is the first person we have met with livejackets on the boat and they all really care that you have a great time. We also visited the school just next to the homestay where Alfaro, the son, attends and learns perfect english. All in all if you want to experience papuan life with a very lovely and caring family, this is the place to stay. You really feel that they love to host guests. Thank you!

We stayed here for 2 nights – food was excellent & must be the cleanest place in Raja Ampat! Really good choice if you want to see birds of paradise & easy walk to both villages. Lovely family – Thank You!

We stayed in Nyanse Homestay for 4 days. The family are very kind end specials people. The accommodation is nice and clean, the food was great and very good, they prepared for us a snack every afternoon. The Bungalow was in the sea, sourrounded from the coral and multicolor fishes.
Thank you for all,
Patrizio and Mauro.

This homestay was one the highlight of our stay in Raja Ampat. The place is absolutely gorgeous: located in a mangrove bay, the bungalows, dining room, bathroom and path to the village are all joined by wooden pontoons over the water. We were there at full moon and with the low tide it was a magical sight.
The food was also excellent, plenty and varied (we even had French fries!), with a snack in the afternoon. Everything was also very tidy, including the bathroom which was spotless. We were impressed!
The place is located in between two villages, which you can access in a few minutes. There is also a secondary school nearby, a project founded by a Swiss-Indonesian couple (Child Aid Papua), where Alvaro, the son of our host family, is schooled and that he kindly made us visit.
But the best of the place is for sure the family, we had a lovely time living among Ferdi, his wife and his two sons! They took great care of us and were just kind and fun people to be around. Come here, you will not regret it!

We stayed 4 nights at Nyanse Homestay. We originally booked with Tapor Aikos. As Nyanse and Tapor Aikos Homestay are the same Family and located direct next to each other we got a place at Nyanse. The two rooms are newly build, clean and have a good climate due to the mangrove next to the building. What was exceptional was the nice food. You can do snorkeling with Tapor Aikos. The snorkel sites are really nice and somehow secret – offered from the family for very reasonable! prices. Communication in English is okay. Not the best but the owners understand you easily. The are two villages close by. You can do a nice birds of paradise tour. We can fully recommend Nyanse Homestay.

We chose this homestay for a solitary and intimate retreat, and remote working location as well – it’s in a lovely bay with mangroves, has just two bungalows and a good phone signal from the mast on Arborek. We came here full of concerns because, being newly opened after the pandemic, it hadn’t had any comments here yet. But our bungalow turned out to be quite alright. We were supposed to have meals served on the verandah, which was an added attraction for us, but it turned out the owners are just expanding their homestay and a restaurant has already been created in a separate enormous bungalow on the water, which looks like a 5-star hotel here thanks to the stylish white curtains. The bathroom and toilet are unfortunately still in need of renovation. But, we were very impressed with the meals. Very plentiful and varied. The owner’s wife catered to us so much that we probably gained a few kilos after our 5-day stay here. In addition to the 3 meals, we were served fattening snacks almost every day (e.g. fried bananas in chocolate and coconut shreds) – yum!
The host speaks little English, but is gallantly assisted by his son Alvaro, who is learning English at the nearby Child Aid Papua Education Centre. A fantastic school, which I’m sure Alvaro would be happy to show you inside, like he did to us. It is also worth coming here for the local folklore of the villages of Sawinggrai and Kapisawar, between which the homestay is located, and at Christmas or Easter – to experience the local magic of the festivities celebrated in the church in Sawinggrai village.
Our host, with Alvaro and his daughter helping him, took us by boat for snorkelling and organised a birdwatching trip. When the host saw that, as an elderly person, I was having trouble climbing out of the water onto the boat, for the next snorkelling he upgraded the ladder especially for me, extending it by one more step. The whole family is incredibly helpful and super-friendly! We had a very good time with them.
