Marlina Homestay lies on the sheltered northern shore of Pulau Pam, opposite the island of Ambower.

Two over-water VIP bungalows are offered. The bungalows have glazed windows and solid, lockable doors. The bungalow verandahs have chairs and ocean views to Meos Ambower. Bungalow bedrooms have raised beds. Sheets, pillows, bolsters, mosquito nets, and electric fans are supplied. Power outlets and room light switches are fitted.

The bungalow ensuite bathrooms have western-style toilets. Showers are provided, but the note that the water pump only works when the electricity supply is on. A tub of water and a ladle are provided for bathing at other times.

Marlina Homestay’s bungalow verandahs are connected to the dining room via a boardwalk. Free drinking water, tea and coffee making supplies are always available in the dining room. Please advise your hosts upon arrival if you are vegetarian or have any other special dietary requirements.

Electricity is provided by generator and is only available from sunset to about midnight. Marlina Homestay receives a weak 4G signal, but a slow internet connection is usually possible.

Only a little English is spoken at Marlina Homestay, so a phrasebook or translation app is highly recommended if you don’t speak any Bahasa Indonesia.

You’ll need to bring all the consumables you consider essential for your stay. The nearest village of Saupapir on Pam is about a ten minute boat ride away, but only very basic supplies of the kind used by local people are available there.

Raja Ampat has no safe waste disposal or recycling infrastructure. All homestays request that their guest please take their inorganic waste away when they leave, so as to not contribute to the growing trash problem in the islands.

Transport / Getting there

Transfers between Waisai and Marlina Homestay are by longboat. The boat can carry up to 3 passengers. Prices quoted are shared by passengers.

Transfers between Waisai and Marlina Homestay cost IDR 2,500,000.

Pickups from the public boat harbour at Pambemuk (see below) cost IDR 300,000 (max 4 passengers)

Public Boat to the Fam Islands

If you have plenty of time, you don’t mind a bit of discomfort, and you want spend as little as possible on transport costs, then there are cargo boats that you can use to get to the Fam Islands. (Obviously, if you are going to arrive on the cargo boat, then you don’t need to request a Waisai pickup when submitting the booking form above.)

Activities

Marlina Homestay is a perfect base from which to explore the fabulous beaches and sights of the Pam Islands.

Be sure to bring snorkelling gear too, as there are plenty of excellent snorkelling sites around the homestay.

The popular tourist drawcard of Piaynemo is nearby and a visit to the lookout there can be combined with snorkelling the famed reefs of Melissa’s Garden.  Mantas, dolphins and whales are frequent visitors. (All are wild animals with their own schedules though, so, naturally, a sighting or encounter can’t be guaranteed on any particular day.)

A short boat ride to the west of Marlina Homestay is a jetty from which walking paths connect to Pam’s three villages. A round trip to all three villages would be about a 10 kilometre walk.

Marlina Homestay can provide snorkelling and sightseeing trips to anywhere you want to go.

Trip prices vary widely, depending on destination/s, number of participants, and the current local cost of fuel. Like many homestays, Marlina has not provided fixed pricelists for this reason. If you want to know trip prices before booking, then contact us with a list of trips that you want to do, the number of people in your group, and the name of homestay you are enquiring about, and we will provide current prices for you.
