Kurawesi Homestay is set amid the mangroves near Mumes village on Waigeo’s southern coast.

Three private beach bungalows are available.

The bungalows sleep two on mattresses on the floor. Sheets, pillows, blanket and mosquito nets are provided. Bungalow verandahs are equipped with table and chair settings.

Meals are served on the bungalow verandahs. Free drinking water and tea and coffee making supplies are provided for guests.

Guests share a 2 room, bathroom building. Dip mandi (bucket and ladle) bathing is provided in one room. The other room houses a western-style toilet.

Electricity is provided by generator, and is available from sunset to around midnight.

There is no phone signal at Kurawesi Homestay, so be prepared to be offline while at the homestay.

Any supplies you consider essential will need to be brought with you, because only very basic supplies are available in the local village shops.

Mumes village is a five minute boat ride or a twenty minute walk away.

As everywhere else in Raja Ampat, there is no safe waste disposal at Kurawesi Homestay: Any inorganic waste you leave behind will contribute to the trashing of paradise.

Very little English is spoken at Kurawesi Homestay, so bringing a translation app or phrasebook is recommended.

Transport / Getting there

Transfers between Waisai and Kurawesi Homestay cost IDR 700,000. The trip cost is shared by the longboat passengers (Maximum of 4.)

Warsambin transfers cost IDR 400,000. (Shared by up to 4 passengers.)

If you want to be picked up from Warsambin, do not select the Waisai pickup checkbox on the booking form above.

Activities

Like all homestays, Kurawesi Homestay can provide snorkelling and sightseeing trips to anywhere you want to go. (Bring your own snorkelling equipment.)

Kali Biru, the famed blue river is close by, as are all the attractions of Mayalibit Bay.

Mumes village contains the ruins of the home of one of the four kings from which Raja Ampat takes its name.

There is also an interesting forest hike to the mini-hydro plant that generates electricity for Mumes. Stop off for a cooling swim in one of the travertine pools in the river on the way.

  • Kurawesi was added to Stay Raja Ampat today, and so does not have any reviews yet.

    Kurawesi means “let’s visit them”.

It’s really hard for new homestays, so we hope someone will soon.

Please do consider giving Kurawesi Homestay a chance, and then be the first to submit some feedback.

Immanuel and family will be so happy to see you! 😊🙏
