Terima kasih, Alex!!!

  • Probably the best location in Kri! You can snorkel straight from your bungalow to the jetty and see the reef. It’s only a 1-minute walk to Soul Scuba Divers, and you get to enjoy the most beautiful sunsets every evening.

Alex speaks good English and is super helpful with anything you need. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the food is tasty with nice variety every day.

And best of all — there’s a super cute and friendly white cat called Putih who’ll definitely steal your heart! Highly recommended! ❤️

  • The best location in Raja Ampat, incredible snorkeling straight from our bungalo.
Alex organized for us great half day snorkeling trips with awesome crew which we enjoyed enormously. Everything else was good, toom

  • We stayed for 5 nights in Kri Guesthouse and we loved it. The bungalow was nice and we had a fan in our room (power was on the whole night). The food was amazing and very diverse. One of the best we had in Raja Ampat. Also there was enough food for everybody (and if you ever have a problem with the amount of food just let Alex know ☺️).

Alex is very nice and helpful. We definitely recommend to stay at his place ☺️

  • The Kri Guesthouse is situated on a beautiful beach with an offshore reef, which is ideal for snorkelling.
The water bungalows are simple but equipped with mosquito nets. The toilet facilities are not located near the beach.
The food was tasty, although the portions were not always sufficient for all guests.
As fires were lit in the neighbourhood using plastic waste, there was often an unpleasant smell, which could sometimes be detected also at night. Unfortunately, this type of waste disposal can be observed in several places in Raja Ampat.

    • Please for give US, 🙏,

And for the toilet we cannot build nearby to the beach,, because we keep clean the beach for people/ guest walking around for activity,,

  • Stayed five nights at Kri Guesthouse and could have stayed five more. Such a beautiful setting, over the water. Room was basic but clean. They had just opened new bathrooms which had flushing toilets and were very clean.

The food was excellent and varied. As a solo traveller I had no trouble meeting people while sharing meals in the restaurant and diving with Soul Scuba next door.

Alex and his family are also lovely. Thank you for having me!

  • Had a great time, would stay again! I appreciated the variety of tasty options at each meal – usually multiple veggie and multiple proteins, adapting based on guest dietary preferences – and the breakfasts were more filling and tasty than what is typically provided in homestays.

Alex & his family were welcoming and went above and beyond to keep the whole property clean at all times. The newly-built restrooms opened the day after we left so we used the older ones, but my travel companion visited the next day and reports that they are modern and quite nice.

Kri Guesthouse propose 5 cabanes .

  • Well, Kri guesthouse was a good experience. Nice new bungalows, amazing views, great house reef and good food. It is a 30 second walk away o soul scuba as well. The biggest con of this guesthouse was the bathrooms. They are pretty terrible and not up to the standard of the nearby guesthouses.

  • We enjoyed staying at Kri guesthouse! The view is amazing and great snorkling near the homestay. We spotted several blacktip sharks. Loved the hammock, the food and the dogs Helder and Sniper. Alex was also very friendly! Best host we had in Raja Ampat.

  • I’ve stayed at Kri guesthouse for 6 days and absolutely loved my stay. The overwater bungalows yet simple offer such a stunning view to the house coral of Kri island, that every morning feels majestic waking up to that view. The food was also great and varied every day, while also accommodating different dietary preferences of the guests (vegetarian, vegan etc). The bathrooms were kept clean and tidy. Alex and his family made everyone feel very welcome and at ease from the moment guests stepped on the island. I also dove with soulscuba while staying there and can’t recommend the shop enough – from the top notch equipment and instructors/DMs to how thoroughly international safety standards are followed there. Conveniently, Kri guest house is just 30 seconds away from the shop.

  • We stayed here for 7 nights early Jan 26. Alex is a really nice man and provides excellent snorkling trips swimming the manta rays or off Cape Kri with the guys really making sure we have the best trip experience.
The photos are a bit out of date in that there are a few more cabins over the sea now built and Soul Scuba next door has been extended. The new cabins are a bit ‘smarter’ lovely high ceilings and airy, with v comfortable beds.
The stand out thing for us was the food, it was so good, really varied and many different side dishes.
There is a bit of a social element, if wished, in the restaurant with some v relaxed people from all different countries.
We did the open water diving course at Soul Scuba, so it was really convenient, and there’s now a handy small store for Bintang and snacks etc.
I would really recommend this place.

  • We, Indonesian couple, stayed for 3D2N on 1-3 Jan 2026 and had a very good time. The room is spacious, and it’s not as hot as expected during the night since it was quite windy. The 3x meals a day is quite luxurious, considering we’re staying in a small and quite remote island.

We have no experience with rats, but keep our food inside the provided container. Electricity only during the evening, Telkomsel and Indosat signal is quite strong. There’s only 2 homestays nearby and 1 dive center, so it’s pretty quiet if that’s you’re looking for.

  • Paradise! We stayed for 6 nights and wish we stayed longer. Alex and his family were incredibly accomodating and meals were great. View looks out over the bay with a great house reef for snorkelling. Its right next to soul scuba which is the best dive centre on Kri. Will definitely be back, and a could not recommend it enough for anyone considering Kri.

  • We had a fantastic 5 night stay at Kri guesthouse, which was our favourite homestay in our whole time in Raja Ampat. The bungalows were great and equipped with a hammock + deck chair, lots of comfortable places to sit & relax! The food was also excellent and plentiful, and Alex was a great host!

  • I highly recommend Kri Guesthouse. Its location is perfect and a very short walk to Soul Scuba Divers which I also highly recommend. Sunset views from the bungalows are spectacular, and little baby reef sharks greeted me my first two mornings as I looked out into the blue water from my porch. The food was excellent and plentiful. Fellow guests who’d been to other homestays were unanimous in their view that Alex’s family’s meals are superior. Additionally, Alex and his family are very kind and gracious hosts.

Why 4 instead of 5/5 starfish?

    – Communication could have been better. A brief, even 2 minute orientation of what time meals would be served and how to order a “lunch box” for Soul’s all-day “adventure trips” would have been appreciated. This of course makes for great conversation starters with your fellow guests, so this isn’t a big deal. Also, Alex mentioned on my arrival that his son was sick, so it’s completely understandable if he was distracted.

    – The mosquito net in my room didn’t quite close all the way. This might have been user error on my part, but I would recommend guests bring 4-5 clothespins, both for closing up the net and for securing items to the clotheslines to avoid losing them to storm winds.

    – There are no ladders/stairs from the bungalows down to the water. I saw this on other bungalows in the area. This is also not a big deal either, but would have been a very nice convenience.

    English Version

I stayed at Kri Guesthouse for a week and had a very pleasant experience. The location is close to the jetty, which is the best spot for snorkeling. The water is crystal clear and the coral is vibrant, allowing me to see marine life directly from the jetty every day.

Ocean activities are very easy to arrange. For diving, you can join Soul Scuba Divers, which is nearby and highly professional. Make sure you clearly explain your situation and condition, such as your certification level, your last dive, any fears, or specific preferences, so they can tailor the equipment and dive plan accordingly.

For snorkeling, the list of spots and prices is displayed in the breakfast area of Kri Guesthouse, and it is open to guests from other homestays as well. Alex can organize trips according to the schedule and destinations you prefer, giving you full flexibility.

Animal lovers will also appreciate this place. There are several friendly dogs and cats that enjoy interacting with guests. One cat may even sleep in your room, as long as you take the time to approach it gently and make it feel comfortable.

The room is simple but clean and comfortable, with electricity available according to schedule. The meals are tasty and generous, especially the fresh fish dishes. Alex and his extended family are warm, friendly, and always ready to help whenever needed.

Overall, Kri Guesthouse is an excellent choice for travelers who want to enjoy the beauty of Raja Ampat in a peaceful, nature-focused environment and at a reasonable price. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic experience without requiring luxury facilities.

  • Homestay was great – I have nothing bad to say about it.
The location is nice, the facilities are good, and the food is great with a decent variety. Alex speaks very good English. And the sunsets are amazing.

However, the tours were not good at all. The first tour we booked was to Piaynemo with stops at Rufus, Melissa Garden, and Manta Place. We paid 5 million for the boat (the regular price was 4, but it was Sunday). The guides missed half of the spot,s and instead of a full day tour we were back at 3pm.
The second tour was supposed to be to Cape Kri the next day. We agreed with Alex to meet at 8:30. However, nobody came at the time. So the tour only started around 11 (and we had to leave for the ferry at 12:30).

However, I definitely recommend staying here. Just be careful while booking the excursions.
At night, there’s bioluminescent plankton around the bungalows, so make sure to swim around to check it out.

  • Kri guesthouse is perfectly located with an amazing view of the beach. It’s only over water bungalows which is great. Yenbuba homestay and soul scuba divers (minimal construction going on) are next to it and there’s a big pier as well.
    Good:
    Beach
Amount of food very sufficient (don’t expect great food but afterwards went to other home stays and this actually better than the others even though I was disappointed first)
    Alex speaks English well
Bungalow basic but good with big comfy bed and pillows. No rats!
Best beach on the islands! Very light blue water and snorkeling possible from the jetty
    Organises tours for snorkeling
Organized a private boat for pickup in Sorong since the morning ferry doesn’t run on three days a week
Appreciate the adjustment for food and created good dishes with variety after time
Tempeh really nice if not coated in batter
Free tea and coffee and water all day (but everywhere)

    Negative:
Alex wasn’t there for check in so no one really spoke to me
Staff doesn’t understand English which made it extremely difficult the first day when asking for food. There’s not a real understanding what vegan means but after two days they cooked really nice food (not so deep fried) and there was other fruits for brekky than just banana.
He lies about the hammocks which is upsetting. Keeps on telling people that there will be a hammock tomorrow but isn’t investing in hammocks whereas online every bungalow should come with a hammock.

Reality: 2 of 6 don’t have any hammock or subbed just two uncomfortable plastic chairs upfront. Please fix this.

No wifi (only soul scuba and yenbuba)
    eSIM doesn’t work fyi
    Bucket shower only
No soap and some days no toilet paper
Tours seem expensive but you can divide price by people
Moskito nets has big holes – needs replacement or fixing

Overall more on the basic side but the waterfront is so amazing it’s worth it
    Happy the accommodated food requirements
But please buy hammocks for the remaining bungalows and don’t lie to people.

  • Had a wonderful stay here as our first stop.
The rooms were magical, my Instagram blew up about the pics! Reasonably new accommodation, and we got to watch the family build one next door during the day.
The big dive Centre next door is booked out months in advance so keep that in mind. We did get some dives in with a neighboring homestay but.
The amenities are what they are in line with most home stays. Food was good, if it runs out just ask for me. It’s a sort of serve yourself type of operation.
The language barriers with the family can be challenging but that’s all apart of the remote experience. There is a small shop in the little village, chips, coffee, biscuits, cold drinks and beer thankfully.
The house reef is just stunning we spent hours going up at down it. Can even walk out to the neighboring island.
You really do have to get on organizing your tours yourself, they won’t come looking for you.
They were also building a brand new 3 story dive Centre/restaurant which looks like it’s going to be fabulous. Should be completed by now.
I really rated this place! And would go back.

On recommande !!

  • We spent 3 nights at Kri Homestay.
I have mixed feelings about the experience.
The bungalows are very nice and quiet, brand new.
The food is good, but the portions are insufficient.
The homestay feels impersonal; the guest is treated as an afterthought, with very little interaction with the manager. The shared bathrooms do not match the standard of the bungalows.
The few snorkeling excursions offered are relatively expensive and, more importantly, cannot be shared because all guests dive at the neighboring club.
This has nothing to do with this homestay, but the northwest of Krii is a homestay hub.
This situation is unlikely to improve in the future, as a large structure with a restaurant and bar is nearing completion just a few meters from the Homestays.

  • The accommodation was great with a double bed over water.
There were no rats, a pedestal fan was provided but not required
    due to the temperatures.
Bottled water was provided in the dining room.
Alex was a great host, he spoke good English and helped organise snorkelling trips with other guests.
    We would thoroughly recommend.

  • The accommodation is fabulous and offers good value for money. It’s a beautiful location (1 hour from Waisai). The toilet and shower are outside, and it’s not bad. The meals were delicious, and the day trips weren’t too expensive if you share with other guests. I would repeat at Kri Guesthouse again.

  • The over water bungalows are clean und comfortable. They have real beds and not just a mattress on the floor. Also they were comfortable. At the veranda they have chairs, a hammock and a lie. The food was very good and enough. For breakfast it wasn’t just cake but also toast and eggs. Alex, the host, is a really nice guy. He always helped us if we had questions and we did a great trip with him to Gam Bay. I definitely can recommend this place.

  • Alex the host is very good person, he always try to help you as much as possible. His tour is good price also. The bungalow is basic but good enough: you can swim in front of bungalows because it s sand then it s next to soul scuba jetty to snorkling with lots of corals, fishes, turtles,… good foods everyday, cold beer next door, viewpoint moutain is good for trekking. I was very happy to stay here.

  • Surely whoever is aiming at raja ampat is well aware of how long it takes. Once there you’re rewarded with one of the most beautiful marine environment I’m the world and kri guest house is the perfect way to enjoy it.
Alex is polite, kind and always available. You’ll fill at home. The room is clean with king size bed, mosquito net, fan and hammock outside. Power runs from 19 to late night depending on the days. More than enough to recharge your stuff. Right below the jetty you can swim, snorkel and dive! 100% recommended.
Food is great and drinkable water is always available. Toilet is shared with bucket method for flush and showers.

  • Alex and his family have a beautiful homestay here on the island – over water Bungalows with raised beds. Fan which can be turned on all night. The eating area was clean and food excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • Super guesthouse.

  • The best homestay I stayed at during my 15 days in Raja Ampat. I stayed here for three nights, but I wish I could’ve stayed longer. The overwater bungalows are spacious and comfortable, with clean sheets and towels. The bathrooms, though rustic, were very clean.

The food was absolutely the best — always varied, plentiful, and with fresh fruit every day.

Alex speaks good English, is very friendly and fun, and organizes boat excursions. This was the only homestay where I actually got to interact with the family.

    Truly a wonderful experience.
    Really grateful

  • Amazing Homestay! It exceeded my expectations! Alex is so kind and generous and the food is the best in Kri island. It’s a small homestay so you get to meet people and interact with the other guests which is great! Food is plentiful and varies everyday!
Toilets are good and just as the general homestay, bucket showers, which I actually really enjoyed.
No signs of rats in Kri while I was there and we kept all our food in air tight containers which might have helped as well.
I just can’t wait to go back and stay at Kri Guesthouse again! Thanks Alex for such great experience!

  • A nice week stay. Simple but confortable cabanas, good food and friendly relationship with other residents.
And very near to the Soul Scuba dive center.
Just remember it’s a small remote island, you shall adapt your needs accordingly.
Book in advance, is it may be full.
    Thanks to Alex

  • Alex and wife Tina are the best manager/cook on the island
    both are jolly, happy people

FOOD the best on the island!
sometimes 6 courses – rice and/or noodles, vegetable or two, fish or chicken and/or tofu, fruit
plentiful and varied and tasty, as good as any restaurant
    once we had shrimp scampi
another time mango juice on ice
breakfast – egg and bread plus the sweets you get elsewhere

attention to detail; all the little things done well
ex. restocking jelly and honey, toilet paper, drinks, all proactive
ex. installed a faucet foot wash when we were there
ex. brought a new mosquito net even though not requested

offers snorkel trips at average prices
    newest, largest, farthest hut preferred
    no generator noise
next to Soul jetty if you want to book diving trips
    beer available next door

HOUSE REEF good, and you can snorkel anywhere around the island from here, and also walk at low tide to neighboring island Mansuar; fish plentiful

not the best: more mosquitos than other places
bed is a mattress on the floor
no shelves or closet or nails in the wall; bring string to hang in room for clotheslines
bath is a bucket dip, no shower; toilet is bucket flush ( but all kept clean; no rats)
but that is all; the positives far outweigh any negatives

  • I stayed with Alex and his family for ten days and enjoyed my stay a lot . The view from the bungalows is awsome. My bed was comfy . There was always enough and good food . Other guests celebrated a birthday and they were surprised with a yummie cake and nice songs performed by Alex singing and playing guitar.
It’s just some steps from soul scuba divers . If you are a snorkler, Alex can bring you to the best places .

  • We had a wonderful stay of 2 weeks at the home stay of Alex and Tina. They are very friendly and take very good care of us. The room is very clean with very comfortable bed and an electric fan. The food is simply the best among all the home stays in this part, made guests at other home stays jealous. Every meal is different, with variety of veg’s, fruit, tofu, tempeh, chicken or fish. They prepared lunch boxes for us when we went on a day trip.

We were mainly here for diving with their neighbor Soul scuba. But other guests went with Alex on day trips and came back with smiles on their faces. Alex is very knowledgeable about this area and makes sure you have a great time.

We would like to return here and we would definitely recommend you to stay at Kri guesthouse.

  • We stayed with Alex from December 27 – January 2nd and had an incredible time.

There was an issue with our booking (maybe a website glitch?) and we were double booked in our bungalow, but Alex sorted us in the next homestay over for two nights and we could still come to him for any of our needs.

The food from Alex and his family was amazing, and the homestay excursion list with Alex was extensive. We did two excursions with Alex and his family and had the best time. Alex is extremely knowledgeable of the local marine life, and would always come and chat with the guests.

    Cannot recommend here enough ❤️

  • I had an awesome stay at Kri guesthouse, really enjoyed the food and the friendly staff. It was clean and I had no problems with any cockroaches or rats like the accommodations next to us. Alex which is the owner was really helpful and was kind enough to leave some leftovers from the dinner fish, which we then could feed to the sharks in the morning. Was a precious experience at Kri guesthouse, next time I will come back to Kri guesthouse for sure, I can recommend the stay to anyone.

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Kri Guest House. Alex was very helpful and helped me contact my next accommodation. The food was excellent and plentiful. I didn’t have any problems with rats, unlike the people I met at the accommodation next to mine. The jetty next door is amazing for snorkelling. The sunset view is very beautiful from the last 2 bungalows.

  • Alex is an excellent host, food was excellent, boat trips too. Bungalow close to the sand banks at low tide, nice to walk in the sea. Convenient snorkeling from the nearby jetty. For divers just next to a diving club.

  • Alex and his family were fantastic hosts.

The room was just what we needed, you are about as close to soul scuba divers.

    There food was incredible.

The negative reviews that I saw:
“boat noise is too loud”, this wasn’t a bother for us at all.
“the rats” this isn’t to say they don’t exist, but we didn’t see evidence of them at all

  • The best homestay in Kri! The hosts were super friendly and gave us a super authentic experience. The common area is very clean and the food was delicious.
The location of the huts are the best on this side of the island where you can catch the most beautiful sunset. It’s also right next to soul diving.

The host gave us a plastic box to store our snacks and everything scented to avoid rats coming in (and we did not see a single rat! Nor did the other guests from Kri guesthouse. Just make sure you dont leave anything that is smelly or any snacks out of the plastic box). The staff was also cleaning the toilets well every day.

One down side is that there is no wifi in the rooms, which was not a big deal for us.

It is also possible yo book day trips with thru the homestay and snorkeling equipments are available

I would definitely come back one day!

  • This place was paradise for me. The huts were simple but had everything you could need, mine even had a desk and small plastic lockers! There was always plenty of food and the boat day trips were great. Snorkeling off the island was beautiful and Cape Kri was hands down my favorite place. The shared toilets are basic but were cleaned regularly and there was always toilet paper. Just because something is stained or worn doesn’t mean it’s dirty! The west papuans are to be admired for using things until they are 100% worn out and even then if they can repair it they will ! Such a nice change from the usual throw away society ethos. Internet was perfect and there was electricity every night from 7pm to around 6am. I had a fan in my bungalow which was a welcome surprise. The sunsets were gorgeous.

  • We spent three wonderful nights at Kri Guesthouse, and it was an unforgettable experience. The location is paradise, just steps from the beach and surrounded by breathtaking nature. The cabins are simple but comfortable and clean. The homemade food was delicious and plentiful. Having the Soul Scuba and Yembuba Divers centers less than 10 meters from the guesthouse was perfect for our diving adventures. The staff was incredibly friendly and always willing to help. We would return without a doubt!

  • We stayed for a week and dived with Soul Scuba. The bungalows look towards the west and every night we were treated to spectacular sunsets, and every morning woke up to little baby reef sharks swimming under our bungalows (which are all over the water). Bungalows are spacious and well set up with a veranda, hammock and chairs. It really felt like paradise. The food is good and always plentiful, the dining arrangement is with other home stayers and great for meeting others and exchanging tips. Great snorkelling off Soul Scuba’s jetty and very convenient to get to the dive shop. Alex and his family are very warm, kind and attentive. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this homestay.

  • Very nice homestead specially if you plant to go diving with the Soul Divers dive centre as it is 2 minutes away. Alex and his family are lovely, food was very nice and abundant, great snorkelling spot just meters away from the huts. Alex also offer day trips if you plan to go snorkelling and he will help organising transport to other islands. No rats. Quiet and peaceful spot. We had a relaxing holiday!

  • Just like at home.

Raja Ampat, and in my case the island of Kri, is the place where I have disconnected the most on any of my trips.

The cabins are very spacious, with a small terrace that has a hammock and chairs to relax in. They are all over the sea, and just by looking out you can see baby blacktip sharks and the occasional stingray.

Meals with the other guests are a good way to socialise with people and prepare for excursions to other islands. In our case, we also made very good friends. The quality of each meal is outstanding. They also offer unlimited tea and coffee in addition to the three meals.

The bathrooms have a western style toilet and a hole toilet, and a bucket with cold water is used as a shower.

We had electricity for a maximum of 10 hours a day from 18:00h, so it is advisable to bring an external charger.

Alex and his family are very attentive and will help you with any questions or unforeseen events.

The Soul Divers dive centre is less than a minute’s walk away, which is a great advantage as there is some spectacular snorkelling from their dock (book your dives in advance).

No sign of the ‘famous’ rats in our 9 days there. In fact they keep the beach really clean.

In short, if paradise exists, this is the closest I’ve ever been to it.

  • I stayed 7 nights at Kri Guesthouse and I loved it! Stunning fiew over the lagoon and beautiful sunsets to watch from the bungalow. The food was always really good and Alex and his family is so friendly. Kri Guesthouse is right next to Soul Scuba Divers!

  • Kri Guest House is the most beautiful homestay you can choose in Kri Island! The spot of the bungalows is perfect for snorkeling, diving, watching sunset every day!

Alex and his family are very friendly and kind, the food of Tina is just amazing and the kids are so sweet!

  • We were 5 days/4 nights and the experience was amazing. There was a kind of problem dormir our payment (arrived kind of later) and we had to move to other room just in a close homestay (Alex’s brother) and it was in a really nice situation. We had net for mosquitoes over the bed, electricity from around 6pm to 11/12pm. But the dinner room was the same as for the rest of Alex’s guests. The food was a Lost, tasty, with rice, fish, meat, tempe, vegetables and fruit, all the food varied and not the same. Breakfasts delicious and we had water and coffee whenever we wanted. Also we bought some food before arriving and Alex kept for us.
Bathroom and shower were as we expected, you just have to realise where you are, and there’s any kind of trouble.
The homestay has a really nice reef we you can directly snorkeling, and also close to Sou Scuba Diver.
Alex family was lovely and really helpful, and we did with him many snorkeling trips by a fair price (as we were sharing boat with other guests).
We knew before going it should be an amazing experience, but after being there we felt as we had to expend many more days there. A shame because it’s a wonderful experience.
Thanks Alex, hope to see you again anytime!

  • Really good location in Kri. The family is so sweet and helpful. Food is really good and the huts and their views are beautiful. Remember this area is remote and expect simple accommodation, then you will love it here.

Merci Alex !

  • Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed our 4 nights here while diving with Soul Scuba. It’s beautifully located at the tip of Kri over shallow crystal blue water. Really great views and sunsets from our deck over the water. Soul Scuba is right next door so it was super easy going to and from. Food was good and plentiful all the time, with couple snack available 24/7. Alex was very kind and helpful. Good snorkelling right at the end of the Soul Scuba dock where you reach the reef, and some small baby reef sharks swimming around our room. Would stay here again over elsewhere if returning to Kri.

  • Incredible days in Kri Homestay! It is very nice, in a peaceful place. The rooms are clean, with a confortable bed and fan, and also good views!
Alex and his family are very nice and helpfully.
The food is delicious, everday we has different dishes with rice, different kind of vegetables, fish, chicken and different fruits.
The location is very good, Soul Scuba Divers is very near and its a good centre to dive.
At first, we booked only for three nights but finally we spend ten days there!

  • Our stay here was amazing ! Alex is the best host you can get, always caring about your needs, and he takes the time to talk with you about everything. He even tried to make us learn how to speak Indonesian ! (Very helpful).
He knows all the great spots to do snorkeling as well and he takes you for a good price.
The food was amazing !! Some guests from others Homestay were jealous about our meals !
The location is also perfect if you want to dive with soul scuba.
We were sad to leave this paradise place, hope we could come back one day.
Thanks again for everything Alex 🙏🏻✨

  • Wonderful stay at Kri Guesthouse with Alex and family! Bungalows are in a perfect location, right next to the scuba diving shop, steps away from the sand bar, and perfectly west-facing for watching the sunset! Alex’s wife cooks the absolute best food (I also stayed a couple days at a nearby place, and the food at Kri Guesthouse was much much much better)! Wonderful lounge chair and hammock on the deck of the bungalow was great for relaxing and reading in the afternoon. Hope to come back soon!

  • Thanks to Alex and his family, we had a wonderful stay at Kri Guesthouse!! Actually, it was so great that we extended our stay for a few more days! Alex, the host was excellent, he speaks english well and was very helpful and accomodating, providing us with local knowledge about the area.

The food was plentiful and they had a great variety to accommodate all diets. Alex’s wife and mom were amazing cooks, we were spoiled!! Our modest bungalow was cozy and clean, and right over the water. Toilets and shower were also clean. And for what its worth, in over 10 days, we have seen no signs of rats. Just keep your food and sented stuff in a plastic box!! Be wildlife smart!

It felt like we were living in paradise!! It was also conviniently right next to Soul diving. Highly recommend this dive center, the owner and staff were great and welcoming. We would hang out there most days as they have comfy gathering space and great conversations. Their jetty was also right at the start of the house reef and quite frankly, a very healthy coral reef and lots of sea creatures wondering around. You could also access the reef right in front of the bungalow, just a little difficult to do at low tide.

We highly recommend Kri Guesthouse and its host Alex for your stay on Kri, in Raja!! Just remember, you are living on an island literally in the middle of nowhere, with limited power. This is just the reality in Raja! JUST BE HAPPY 😊

  • Alex and his family were extremely welcoming and accomodating hosts. Kri guesthouse was perfect for our stay while my sister went diving with soul scuba which is just next door. It was great to be able to hang out in the dive centre at night if we wanted and be back in bed so quickly too. The food was great. Lots of fish and fried bananas. The occasional pancake. Lots of fruit. What more could you need!

  • Loved this guesthouse! It’s a great price/quality deal with great people.

The location is perfect. You’re in the heart of the action, perfect if you want a change from the remote homestays. On the backdoor, you got Soul divecenter, and in front is an unobstructed view over the sunset strait.

My favourite part of the stay here was the possibilities that came with this location. There’s obviously a world of activities for divers with one of the best dive schools on the islands. You can chill on the deck and watch the strait fill and completely empty during high and low tide. You can hop over to the other side during lowtide, you can take a harder walk to the other side of the island or to the viewpoint. In the back of the cabins you have the long pier that stretches all the way across the reef to the dropoff, so even during lowtide you have easy access to snorkle – and there’s always things to see from the piers itself. And there’s a lot of people around so ideal if you want to organise day trips to somewhere and find a crew to share the cost with.

The beds were raised and the mattress was low-key great (comparing to some other places where my bones were touching the floor). I slept perfectly!

I loved the food, portions and attention to detail. I compare to other guesthouses I’ve stayed: there was variety and creativity in the meals… Given that we are on a remote island (so don’t expect pizza hut and KFC but I mean creativity with the ingredients at hand). Its all in the details- elsewhere you often just got rice, veggies and fish, here you generally get things accompanied in a great sauce and some condiments are also at hand.

The adjacent guesthouses are all a bit pricier, so by contrast it may look a bit more basic, but everything is exactly what you need. Lay back in the hammock, read your book, watch some fishies, and enjoy the million dollar sunset view right here. It’s a bit rinky dinky but it keeps you dry!

To the previous reviews about rats: I didn’t see any and just used common sense to store organics in the provided plastic boxes. As they say: opportunity makes a thief. I’ll also not swim with jellyfish and then blame the guesthouse for them stinging me 😉

  • Bungalows were nice – just the wooden chair outside was missing anything soft on it, food was below average, to give an example, some days, it started with 1 piece of bread with pineapple jam only – there used to be a chocolate spread, but they ran out of it, so that was the only option for next days, then for dinner you sometimes get grilled!? boiled eggs with rice, pretty basic and very strange meal combinations, out of all the meals in Raja Ampat this used to be one of the worst and portions very small – definitely not enough, variaty also very low – once there was a chicken, there was no alternative to it – no egg/fish or any other vegetarian option.

Buuut the biggest problem is with rats that are present here in huuuge quantitites, I was aware of the problem and thought that by not bringing a single piece of food with me, I will prevent any problems, but this is not the case for this place, my Osprey backpack was completely destroyed and I had to buy a new one on the way back – rats ate all the areas surrounding zipper just to damage it and even when there was no food, problem was happening every single day to others, but I though that by bringing backpack next to my head under mosquite net, I will prevent it, but in reality – no, this stay cost me additional 250 EUR – price of a new backpack, really thank you for not doing a single thing about the problem, rats are living in the roofs of the bungalows, having a cat really doesnt solve the problem, because the cat cant climb to the roof!

I stayed one month in Raja Ampat, not a single place had such a terrible problem, owner doesnt seem to care at all! Come only if you want your stuff and backpack to be eaten/completely destroyed.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Kri Homestay !
We were a family of 6 using 2 bungalows during 8 days. All was just perfect. The view, Alex and his family, the food, the bungalows, the position right next to the reef for incredible snorkeling, the proximity of the Soul diving center, the fact that we can go to the front village at low tie, the walk in the jungle to reach the view point etc… definitely the best place on Kri Island without any doubt.
We didn’t have any trouble with rats at all. Every night we put our food / soap / cream in a plastic box provided by Alex to avoid any insects and rats, it worked really well.
I can only recommend this little paradise !

  • Awfull experience with loads of rats :/ we were so happy when we arrived at Kri Guesthouse because the place looks super nice and it’s all together clean. (They have soap in every bathroom and also a sink with soap at the restaurant, which isn’t standard in other guesthouses) so during the day we had our paradise but at night it became a true nightmare with the rats eating and destroying the backpacks, eventhough we haven’t had any food inside and pooing everywhere. The owner wasn’t helpfull with the problem at all since his only reaction was, that he has cats now. Which didn’t help at all. We had to leave early but we got our money back, which was very fair. Big plus is the great kitchen, one of the best of all the homestays (5) we had.

  • I was in Kri Guesthouse 4 days in the newest bungalow over the water. Clean and nice. Mosquito net had some holes…
My neighborhoods had rats and left the guesthouse to another one. I didn’t hear or see rats in mine.
It seems like something quite common in most guesthouses in the area.
I don’t get the impression that the owners are concerned and are actively and effectively solving the problem.
On the other hand cooking was good and Alex the owner quite friendly and attentive.
    I recommend this guesthouse.

  • I would recommend Alex homestay to anyone travelling to Kri. The bungalows have great unblocked sunset views and are simple but ver comfortable. They are just next to the diving centre so also very convinient as you could see the boats getting ready while still enjoying your coffee 🙂 I love the food they served, home made and healthy you eat a lot of fish veggies and I specially enjoyed the fried banana and pancakes in the morning. Alex was waiting for me at the peer on my way in as my ferry delayed for a full hour and also on the way back me and some other guest leaving not only to Waisai but to the ticket office and help with suitcases until in the ferry!

  • Kri Guesthouse was a great base to see Raja Ampat. Alex and his wife work really hard and are very caring, trying their best to make sure we had everything we needed. The guesthouse is perfectly situated next to Soul Scuba, with an excellent house reef which I spent hours exploring. On the house reef I found turtles, black tip reef sharks, lion fish, and one morning we had a large dolphin pod pass through.

Yenbuba Jetty and Turtle Bay are also within easy reach and you can swim or walk around the bay at low tide.

It is worth joining the Stay Raja Ampat Facebook community to arrange boat shares to the other islands. It is also a good place to find boat drivers. Once on Kri, Alex can make some arrangements for you however it is not particularly well organised and prices seem to vary.

The bungalows were basic but comfortable; with just a bed, mosquito net and a fan. I was worried it would be very hot at night but the breeze was cool and I slept fine. We did have issues with the rats who chewed through our bags and could be heard scurrying through the roof at night. After a few days we figured out what they would eat/wouldn’t eat and it became easier to manage. I would recommend using a hard suitcase to prevent holes in luggage! They will eat shampoo, soap, suncream etc so put anything which remotely smells in to the plastic box provided. That said, they chewed through my bumbag bag which had nothing in it at all – I started leaving bags unzipped to prevent more damage. This is an issue on the whole of Kri and not specific to this guesthouse. Those staying further from the eating hut seemed to have less of an issue.

The food was mainly very good; everything was tasty and the packed lunches were always great when we were out for the day. As a vegetarian, sometimes the meals lacked protein (just rice and veggies) and I asked for eggs/omelette to keep me fuelled. There was not a huge amount of food and the small shop at the Homestay next door only have biscuits and drinks. I lost weight during this trip – not a complaint!

I would recommend Kri Guesthouse. I loved the beauty of the area and being so close to the Soul Scuba jetty was great. Soul Scuba have WiFi you can make a donation for. Beers are 80k on the island so recommend picking something up at the airport on the way through. Soft drinks are also 50k and available from Soul Scuba or small shop at the next door Homestay.

No snorkel gear is available so you need to take your own. Staying on the islands is essentially like camping in a hut so take everything you need with you.

  • Kri guest house is one of the places we can 100% recommend and would always go back to. The huts have everything you need and the toilets are clean. Alex is one of the nicest hosts ever and cares about your wellbeing. He is super talkative and helpful. The food at Kri guest house is also always great and enough. The best thing about this place is probably the location. It‘s right next to soul scuba dive center with it‘s great house reef for snorkeling and amazing sunsets. Thank you Alex!

Also the food was good and they even made vegetarian options for me.

Our bungalow was also in good condition.

Bathroom and toilet got cleaned every morning.

    We had a good time
    Thank you

  • My rating isn’t a negative review of our experience at Kri Guesthouse, rather a reflection that it met our expectation of a “basic” glamping homestay. Pros include clean accomodation, no rats (they have cats), good food, friendly hosts, good access to internet (if you have a local sim card), pretty snorkeling reef, a pretty hike to a good view on top of the island, and proximity to Soul Scuba (a 2 minute walk on the same beach). Negatives (compared to a higher starred place) include a shared outhouse with one western toilet and one pit (both using manual flusing), a shared ” bucket” shower (no overhead), no shared wifi, the huts are rustic, and feel a little rundown, and the furniture is minimal (raised bed platform with single mattress and mosquito net, desk, outside hammock and chair). Air conditioning is by a fan and open windows. The nightly price was lower than local competition, aligning with the slightly inferior infrastructure. We were surprised (neither positive or negative) that Kri, Soul Scuba, and Yentuba Guesthouse all share the same cove area, creating a bit of a compound. Its right across a walkable isthmus (during low tide) to Mansuer), just over the hill from Turtle Guesthouse, and down the coast from an Eco Lodge. The good is that it makes transport convenient. The bad is that there is boat associated noise (engines, loading/unloading etc.) that takes away from the remote paradise image.

Overall, our stay was quite pleasant. If you are looking for a budget accomodation with good access to snorkeling and scuba, this is a good option. If you are looking for slightly more “westernized/upsacle” then there are more expensive options.

  • We stayed there for a whole week in November 2023. I can defenitely recommend this homestay for its location and the hosts!

    # Hosts
Alex and Tina are very very friendly people and have great children! Alex has been working as a dive guide with Soul Scuba Divers and on liveaboards, so he knows English and the necessarity to be punctual. They were so generous to invite us to their wedding, which was very special to us. It’s a memory we will keep forever! Thank you so much! They arranged all the transports for us perfectly for which I am very grateful – I have seen other tourists on the island missing their ferrry to Sorong (and their flight) due to reluctance of their hosts… with Alex this won’t happen.

    # Homestay
Huts and bucket shower are very basic just as everywhere, that’s what you are coming for! Everything is very clean for a camping-like atmosphere. We were happy that there was some electricity from 18:00-22:00 or sometimes 24:00 so we could fall asleep easier with the fan on. A ladder to go directly to the sea would be the only suggestion I’d have for the future.

    # Food
We did not see any rat in the whole week. The only animal that ate some of our food was a gecko. As they have cats and dogs there now, probably the rats have diminished. We worried a lot about the rats before we came, so we didn’t bring any snacks as suggested by other reviewers. Next time we would bring some snacks though. In general, guests from other homestays complain that food was not plenty enough or too basic. You have to keep in mind that food is precious out there, the ingredients are hard to get and usually the guest houses don’t have a refigerator that runs the whole day. Overall, food was simple, good and clean – just a little bit redundand over the week.

    # Location
The location of this homestay is perfect, you can look at the open bay and sunset every day, they are basically first row. Only the Kri Raja Ampat Bungalows and Nus bungalows are a tiny little bit more at the cape side, we stayed there before but somehow felt more at home here.

You can walk from there along the coast to the east or over the little hill to the south side of the island, where it was a little bit more calm.

Just bear in mind that in general due to the Scuba Divers this area can be a little bit noisy – boats coming and going, sometimes partying at night, early wake up because of the tanks being bumped to the boats. They have space for 25-30 divers for each dive (2 morning, 1 afternoon), so there is a lot going on.

The healthy reef around the cape offers more than 1 km of unforgettable snorkeling experience. It’s hard to believe that you would find such an intact reef anywhere else than in Raja Ampat. I can only hope that future tourist will not start destroying it with the fins as water is quite shallow at times. We didn’t use fins therefore and hardly ever missed them. Also crossing over to Mansuar is possible if you are a little bit cautious to the current. If you are looking for Dugongs, look somewhere else. Once or twice a year there is one passing by.

  • We loved our stay at Kri Guesthouse, it was the best food we had during our stay in Raja. Never went hungry and despite being vegetarian a lot of the time, it was delicious (coming from someone who usually doesn’t love vegetarian food). We also became quite close with Alex and his family and enjoyed a lot of laughs with them.

The house reef was incredible at the pier and being close to Soul Scuba allowed us to enjoy some cold drinks, which was a welcome change!

The beautiful children at the homestay were also a highlight. As well as the fan!

Thank you Alex and your family for making our stay fabulous.

  • I had a lovely stay of 5 nights at Kri guest house 🫶🏼
My bungalow was basic but spacious and clean. It was directly on the beach and it had a nice terrace with a beach bed and hammock. The toilets in Raja Ampat in general are quite basic but they were clean.
The food was the best part: chicken cooked in many different ways, very fresh fish and different kinds of veggies cooked deliciously was every day’s menu.
They don’t communicate much, so just FYI breakfast is at 7, lunch at 12 and dinner at 19 (and they can prepare lunch boxes if you are diving).
Another top point is that snorkel just in front of the pier is amazing, and Soul Scuba divers is right next to the homestay.

Be aware that over the whole country but specifically in Raja Ampat, there is no waste management system so trash ends up burried, burned or at the sea therefore please do not bring a lot of plastic products with you and if you do bring them back to Sorong/home to avoid contributing to the problem 🙏

Finally thanks Alex for the hospitality, see you soon♥️

  • We stayed 4 nights at Kri Guesthouse and stayed in the newly built bungalow. Inside there is only a mattress, a fan and a large table (very useful for placing stuff), outside there is a hammock and beach chair. Amazin! The toilet and shower are on the island, very basic but very clean. The food was delicious and plentiful. Alex and his family are very kind and helpful, he accompanied us on a couple of excursions and on one of these we saw manta rays up close. It was wonderful! Super recommended!

The place is right next to Soul Scuba, so you can walk there and drink some cold beers in the evening after diving. It was a pleasure and i highly recommend to stay at Kri Guesthouse. Thank you again Alex 🙂

  • I stayed 5 nights in late October. It was my first stop in RA and it was fabulous. My pick up from Wasai ferry was terrific and a quick trip to Kri and in the water very quickly. Alex and Tina and family were fantastic, the food was really good with lots of fruit and my bungalow was very comfortable. The beach and reef here at Kri was fabulous and I could snorkel very safely up and down the long coral reef drop off in front at all tides. I saw sea snakes, sharks, turtles, moray eels and lots of fish. Probably the best house reef for coral colours that I did in my 4 homestays. The jetty under Soul Scuba divers was great and Yenbuba jetty is a must. There were no rats, probably because of the dog and cats. Other homestays next door had rats and horrid stories. Alex also provided as esky to store any food in. A great place to chill and enjoy the people and waters. Highly recommend. Thank you Alex and Tina and family.

  • Stayed here for 5 days and we wish we could stay longer! The bungalows have the best sunset view in the surrounding. Food is delicious and varied. Every day we saw small blacktip sharks swimming underneath our bungalow. Recommended to stay here!

  • I had an amazing stay at this guesthouse. I was supposed to stay six nights, but I extended for two more and I would have stayed more if I didn’t have another place booked.
Alex, the owner, is friendly and always willing to help.
The bungalows are new and they have an amazing sunset view. Moreover they are basic but provided with everything you need and the bed is quite comfy.
Dive centre is just next door, so few amazing snorkeling point. During the low tide you can just walk from your bungalow to Mansuard island.
I recommend this homestay to anyone.

  • Stayed at Kri guesthouse with Alex and Tina for a week. My wife is a vegetarian and i was a bit worried no how she was going to manage. but Alex and Tina had vegetarian food made for her with no smell of fish or shrimp.
Thank you Alex and Tina for making it a wonderful trip.
we also got to make some Indian food there, and had a great time. the room was nice, comfortable enough. Soul scuba is just a couple of minutes away.
Absolutly recommend this place for vegetarians.

  • I stayed at Kri Guesthouse for a week. I appreciated having a drying rack on the lanai and the comfortable hammock chair. The food was plentiful and there was fruit! The bungalows are over the water with a gorgeous view. It would be a nice touch if a ladder into the water was added. Nice room with thoughtful touches.

For me, the mattress was not the best. It sagged quite a bit in the middle.

It was a nice stay. Thank you to Alex and Tina!

  • I stayed with Alex and Tina for 4 nights while I was scuba diving with Soul Scuba! It takes less than a minute to walk to the dive center so it was the most perfect location for me! I can highly recommend staying at this guest house – Alex and Tina and their two children are the most beautiful family and always smiling, friendly and helpful. It was really lovely for me to be able to swim and play with the kids <3 The food was amazing for me!!! I was always excited to get back for lunch and dinner every day! There was always some fruit which was nice – hopefully when you stay here you will get to taste Alex’s papaya smoothie 🙂 so yummy! The room was spacious and clean. I’m grateful for the time I was able to spend here!

  • Me and my partner stayed at Kri guesthouse for 4 nights at the end of July and we were sad to leave, we had such a great time! Alex and his family are amazing people and his wife Tina cooked delicious meals every day. Alex is very knowledgeable and helped us find walking sharks at night. The houses are beautifully located over the water, from where you have great sunset views you can enjoy from the hammock on your balcony. We saw various fish, sharks and even dolphins from our balcony. The beds are comfortable with mosquito nets and the huts are spacious. We weren’t that bothered by mosquitos at Kri compared to other homestays, perhaps because the houses are over water.

If you like diving this is the perfect place as Soul Scuba dive center is directly next to the guesthouse. The house reef is amazing for snorkling and diving as it has lots of healthy coral and a great variety of marinelife. We saw turtles and sharks and tons of colorful reeffish every time. We can recommend this place to anyone and when we come back to Raja Ampat we definitely want to stay here again. Thank you Alex and Tina!

  • Nothing less than amazing!

Alex and his family have been very welcoming and warm. Alex even took us for a snorkeling trip and dropped us off at the neighboring Yenbuba Jetty.
The food was always very good and we even enjoyed fresh smoothies, bananas, mangos and fresh coconuts during my stay there (hard to get fresh fruit to Kri!).
There really weren’t a lot of mosquitos around but that may depend on the season and weather.
Please really don’t keep any food in the bungalow as rats seem to sense it no matter how well packed or even unopened it might be! Just ask Alex for a box and best store it in the dining hall.
Transfer from and to Waisai was easy to organise as well as communication in English.
I stayed for 8 nights at the Kri Guesthouse and would really like to come back again soon:D

Thanks for everything and all the best Alex!

  • I loved my stay with Alex and his family on Kri. As a solo female traveler I felt safe. I appreciated that there were several bungalows all in the same location, so I had neighbors and a small social scene. Most of the travelers here interacted with Alex’s family, children, and animals, so this felt like a true Homestay. The dive shop is literally a 30 second walk from the Homestay. Alex and his wife and family are very welcoming. The food was made with effort and was delicious and varied

Accommodations are minimalistic, so be prepared for this lifestyle. There is no store on the island- you pack in and pack out what you need. If you bring food to the bungalow, you will attract unwanted guests lol. There are few western comforts like AC or flushing toilets or refrigerators or ice alcohol or bug control or pest control. For me, this is part of the adventure. If you keep an open mind and an open heart, the rewards are bountiful.

I originally booked for 3 nights. I stayed a week, and was sad to leave. I feel I have made true friendships and I felt like family on Kri. Terima kasi Alex and family 🙏🏽 I hope to return again

  • Great stay with Tina and Alex! Very friendly family atmosphere. The food is excellent! The bungalows are simple but well-equipped (table, chairs, fan). Located 15 meters from the Soul Scuba Divers diving club. They have their own generator, which means more electricity than other homestays. We’ll be back in a few months.

  • We stayed with Alex and his family for 6 days in July 2023

Alex is a wonderful host and very helpful with everything we wanted to do. We did a birds of paradise tour which was amazing!!

His location next to Soul Scuba Divers is also nice as we dived with them during our stay

The food is good and varied. We had fresh juices a couple of times which was really good considering how difficult it is to get fruits there. Alex is planning to buy a fridge to keep cold drinks at the dining room which will be a great addition.

The room is clean and spacious. There is even a fan in the room, we stayed at 3 different homestays and this is the only one with a fan. There are hammocks and chairs which give you an amazing view of the sunset! The bathroom has a nice showerhead and is kept clean everyday

Alex’s transfer prices are fair and he always has a smile on his face

We would definitely recommend this homestay!

    Terima kasih Alex dan keluarga!

  • I stayed with Alex and Thina for 10 days and it was nothing short of amazing. The bungalow was super cozy with a hammock and great panoramic views of which there is lots of wildlife to observe (dolphins, dugongs, fish, snails, crabs), many times in the morning I saw baby reef sharks swimming right under the room. The bed was super comfy and came with a net. The house reef was really nice as well. The homestay is in a very centralized place so it is easy to get around to do activities or plan activities with others. Alex is also an extremely knowledgable guy and was always there to help you with what ever you hoped to do. He knows the island and surrounding areas super well, the best spots to go, and always greeted you will the biggest smile when ever you chated. Thina cooked the most amazing food I had while I was staying in raja ampat, every single meal was delicious and new. I think I ate the most I have ever in my life because it was so good not to. Alex also just recently built a new beautiful dining hall which made the dining even more enjoyable. Everything was essentially perfect during my stay here, so thank you so much Alex and Thina and your family for being so welcoming and kind! I wish I could give this place more then 5 stars.

  • Fantastic place. There are currently three overwater bungalows with great views from the terrace and a nice hammock.

The owner Alex was amazing. He speaks fluent English and communication was never a problem. His family is super friendly as well. Transfer and tour prices were very reasonable.

On the transfer from Waigeo we saw a school of dolphins and even a whale. Alex also stopped at a sandbank for us to take pictures. As a divemaster, he is extremely knowledgeable about any surrounding spots. He took us to a place where we saw ten huge turtles and the manta snorkeling trip we did with him was amazing.

The Kri reef is nice, with regular sharks, nemos, schools of fish and fluorescent plankton at night. There was even a Dugong sighting one afternoon, which we sadly missed. There is also diving at the nearby Soul Scuba SSI Dive Center.

The food, which is served in the newly completed dining room, was excellent as well, with lots of variety. In our 5 nights there, not a single time there was a meal repeated, even for breakfast!

Everything is kept clean and we didn’t spot a single rat. There even were hardly any mosquitoes, though that might also be due to the season.

We ended up extending another night and will be back next time we are going to Kri.
