Just spent 6 night at Keruwo home stay. We had an over water bungalow which was really fun because we could see sharks, crown of thorns starfish, reef fish, and even bioluminescent fish at night right from our deck. The location is really great although there is a fair bit of boat traffic going to Melissa’s Garden, piaynemo view point, Fam Wall but when there are less boats it feels very isolated and it feels like you are in a castaway movie. The food was delicious and plentiful, mostly fish, eggs, rice, veg, and fruit which we thought was very good. The home stay is very basic (bed on floor, hammocks, no chairs) but we loved the location because the house reef to the right and all the way to the point has good coral and lots of fish, turtles, sharks, lobsters, rays, just to name a few. On the left the house reef in front of the small island just next to the homestay was excellent with huge Bumphead parrotfish, turtles, eels, sharks, etc. It can be tricky to get out to the drop off at low tide. Melissa’s garden was OK (worth seeing but more for divers because of the depth) but Fam wall, Rufus walk, barracuda point, napoleon wall were excellent. Some of the walls are better to do in the AM when there is more light. Misel left shortly after our arrival but the rest of the family were very nice but there is very little communication because of the language barrier. For the most part it was lots of smiles, thank you, and good morning in Bahasa. Luther and Rainer were great snorkeling buddies and good at pointing things out and made our tours great fun!
This place is probably what youre looking for in Raja Ampat.
Youre on an otherwise uninhabitated island, the rooms are simple but clean, and you get a fresh fish for basically every meal (ask Missael if he’ll take you spear fishing). There are baby sharks underneath your bunglows and theres two heartwarming puppies that want to play with you.
Barely any signal, good food, wonderful people that try to do everything to make you happy.
Theyre a hard working family that have recently got started and face harsh conditions being 2h away from being resupplied.
Cannot recommend this enough – but dont expect any wild luxuries.
Mixed feelings aligned with the mixed reviews of this guesthouse. Me and my partner did enjoy our stay at Keruwo, we were the only guests and the cabin was basic but had two hammocks overlooking a beautiful view and it was very peaceful. Honest negatives are the food was a bit mediocre compared to other placed I stayed, but always had tea coffee, water, and enough food. The prices for transfers and snorkelling trips are expensive, Misael charges 3m for s transfer to Batanta and we ended up paying 2m to out next guesthouse for a pick up. The toilet is pretty far from the cabin and is very basic. Having said this I think Misael has the best intentions and does try his best to make you feel at home and provide you with everything you need.
We stayed for 3 nights in January with our 2 kids. The overwater bungalows had an amazing outlook, mossie net was perfect and laying in the hammocks a dream. Misael the owner was happy to take us fishing, to Pianemo and to any snorkeling locations. Food was great and we really enjoyed our stay, it was really quite, we were the only people there, would highly recommend staying at Keruwo
I would not recommend anyone to stay at this homestay. My wife and I booked to stay there for seven days in November this year but had to move early to another homestay. We have visited many wonderful homestays in Raja Ampat over the past few years and nowhere have I encountered hosts with such a poor understanding of decency and hospitality. From the very beginning we were offered a cramped bungalow where one window was missing and the mosquito net had many holes. Since there were no other guests at the homestay when we arrived, we were allowed to choose another bungalow. All three bungalows at this homestay lacked comfortable furniture and had no chairs at all. The shared bathroom of the homestay was located several dozen meters from the bungalow and from time to time there was no water for washing. We had to eat monotonous, tasteless and often cold meals. Fish and fruit were not served every day, and bananas were of poor quality and even rotten. The hosts explained the lack of food by a lack of funds, even though we had paid in full for our stay three months before arrival. Sometimes there was no coffee or tea during the day. We couldn’t drink the drinking water on the day of arrival because it tasted like plastic and detergent. We had to suffer from thirst for almost nine hours until quality water was brought to us. It is not surprising that within a few days we developed diarrhea. There was no internet in the homestay and if needed, we had to wait a long time for the host and his boat to go to the neighboring village of Saukabu a few kilometers away on the homestay’s only boat. Misael, as the host of the homestay, often took this boat for his own needs and was absent for long periods of time. As a rule, he misinformed us about his plans. For example, he repeatedly promised to go to a neighboring village or homestay and bring the missing coffee or fruit in a couple of hours, but in reality he only returned the next day. Sometimes he said he went to get the missing food, but instead, according to the homestay staff, he served divers from other homestays. This did not allow us to promptly solve the everyday problems of our stay in the homestay and plan trips at a convenient time. This almost ruined our pre-paid trip to Piaynemo, which Misael himself did not participate in and did not inform us about in time. This way we were not able to visit Fam Wall when the sea was calm and the snorkeling conditions were good. At the same time, Misael always asked to pay him for boat trips in advance, citing a lack of funds for fuel. The house reef near the homestay was not interesting for snorkeling, and the cost of trips to other reefs or transfers on this homestay’s boat turned out to be significantly more expensive than the same trips on boats of neighboring homestays. Other tourists, disappointed by the poor quality of the homestay services, moved to other homestays the next day or the day after. We eventually moved to a new homestay a few hundred meters away and were amazed because we had exchanged hell for heaven for practically the same money. All this gives me enough reason to say that Keruwo Homestay is a disgrace to Raja Ampat and is ruining the good reputation of Stayrajaampat Homestay Association with its poor service. When we parted ways, Misael apologized for the problems we encountered, but I doubt his sincerity. Therefore, this homestay does not deserve a single star from us.

We stayed at Misael and Anna for 4 nights. We felt very comfortable there. We had the outermost bungalow in the small private bay. He had everything we needed, a large terrace and the light was to turn off. The food was delicious and varied. There was fresh fruit daily.Misael and Anna are very attentive hosts. In the evening we were always turned on a mosquito spiral. Misael organized us diving with the Gloria Divers, which are not far away. We would visit the Homestay again at any time.

Had a nice couple of nights at Keruwo with Misael and his family. Being the only homestay on the island it is very tranquil. Misael speaks some English so it was nice to be able to communicate with him. I had a very comfortable stay and wished it could have been longer! His family made a real effort with the food and I was treated to chicken, grapes, dragon fruit and even cake for afternoon tea during my stay. It was especially peaceful just lying in the hammock of my bungalow reading my book. When I arrived there was a gorgeous baby bat in residence under the roof of the dining area, and there are also two funny birds who think they own the place and whose permission you need to seek when crossing the beach to visit the toilet or shower! Another highlight was snorkelling around the island, and seeing so many turtles, bumpheads and sharks. You can swim to Keruwo Wall, Anita’s and Melissa’s Garden, and Fam Wall, Piaynemo and Rufas are very close by. Thanks Misael and Family for a lovely stay!

I stayed at Keruwo homestay for 5 nights. This is a great quiet place where Misael lives and where his small family lives. There are two bungalows and two more are being built. They are small but comfortable with a fan, a mattress on the floor and a hammock. You can wash with fresh water, which Misael and his wife bring from pianemo, where there is a freshwater lake. The food is good for Raja Ampat, they gave him fish almost every day. There were fruits every day too .Keruwo homestay is one on the island of Keruwo and it is located on a small beach nearby. After swimming for five minutes with fins, there are two more beaches, one large and the other smaller, they throw up a lot of corals and shells. From Keruwo homestay beach, you can swim with fins in 15 minutes to the excellent reef of anita garden fam fall and keruwo fall, and large napoleon fish often swim nearby. You can swim around the island with flippers in an hour and a half. For those who love silence, there is a nice coral reef and a lot of swimming here. Slava.

I spent 7 nights in Keruwo. There is only one homestay on the island., located on a very small beach. It is impossible to walk around the island because there are only sharp rocks. My little cabine on the water was fine even if it took un beat of water during heavy rains. Food was good except for the green ou pink chemical panecakes.
No exchanges with the family, Just a féd smiles, hello, good night, the meal is ready. Thé hard of the family is gère to do business !
Transportation is very expensive. I came from Sorong by ferry to save money and pay for trips. But I had to revise my plan !
To go from the port of Fam to Keruwo, 10 minutes by boat, il cost me 800000 IDR. And then to go to Arborek, 1300000 (there it is further). OK the gasoline is expensive but it does not justify the prices. To give a little idea of the scam, in Mansuar I went around the island for 300000 IDR and I was alone in the boat !
hello Mrs. CHRISTELLE. thank you for your comment.
This is a clarification message. we admit the first mistake regarding the incoming water, we have fixed the roof of the house. then the second about the green bend, we realize that there is indeed a mistake, there is a slight mistake but we will fix it. then the third is about the expensive cost, for the price from the port to our homestay it is usually 600,000, but at that time because in the village the cost of gasoline had increased drastically, but for now the price has started to return to normal. then the cost from our homestay to Arborek I gave you is the cheapest. we leave this comment as a clarification comment apologizing where some of our points were wrong. that’s all from us. thank you.

Keruwo Homestay had no reviews until I booked in December 2024. I then simply booked it and trusted that it would be good – since it was new. In total we were 6 weeks on 6 different islands and 9 different accommodations. Keruwo was one of the best homestays. The over water bungalow was big just like the terrace with hammock. Mosquito net and mattress very good. Toilet and shower very clean. Misael and his family cooked very good varied food for us and in the afternoon there was always an extra little something to eat. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you will definitely find this here, as there are currently only two bungalows. For snorkelers, Melissa Garden, but even more Hanita Garden (reachable in swim distance from the homestay) and the Fam Wall in visible proximity were one of our highlights. So many species of fish and colorful corals. Piaynemo and Rufus Wall are also just around the corner. At night the water lights up. We would stay here again any time. Many thanks to Misael and his family.

We ended up to Keruwo Homestay because of stressful overbooking in Gloria. After quite big and busy homestays Keruwo was a paradise! Only two bungalows and we were actually the only guests the most of our stay.
We are vegetarians and we were well catered. Plenty of tofu and tempeh, delicious vegetables and sometimes eggs.
The family is really nice and Misichal speaks good english and is really helpful.
The snorkeling is good on the house reef and you can also snorkel to Anitas Garden and Pam Wall which are both close by. Also Rufas islands reefs and Piaynemo look point are also close, so a trip there is a must.
The bungalows are spacious, with hammocks and good bedding. The dining building has some shade during the days so it’s not too hot.
Their internet signal quality varies sometimes, but there’s a good signal around the corner of the island and Misichal can take you there if you really need it so it’s no problem.
Beach is small but well taken care of. There was less plastic than elsewhere but the little plastic that arrived to the beach was instantly cleaned away.
We can warmly recommend Keruwo Homestay.

I really like this homestay on the pictures shown. But still no reviews, why?
When was it checked the last time from Homestay Assiciation?
Hi Sabrina.
The reason is because, sadly, no reviews is a huge disincentive to most potential guests. It’s very difficult for new homestays.
Only one booking has been made on Stay Raja Ampat since Keruwo was listed, and that guest did not choose to leave a review when asked to. (The good news, however, is that problems are always very quickly reported, and that that guest did not report any!)
Keruwo was last checked and updated in October 2024, as is noted on the photos in their gallery above.

Keruwo Homestay is new to the website, and no Stay Raja Ampat guests have left a review for them yet.
Hopefully that will change soon! 🙏
