Safe rubbish disposal is unavailable on any of the Raja Ampat islands, so if you want to avoid contributing to the trashing of paradise, please take all the inorganic waste you create away with you when you leave.

Transport / Getting there

Read more about Raja Ampat boat transport prices here.

Activities

Kri is famous for its excellent snorkelling over rich reefs. Great snorkelling is available off the beach.

At low tide, Yenbuba village can be reached on foot in 20 minutes.  There are also trails to the forested heights of Kri for panoramic Dampier Strait views. (You will probably need a guide to find the trail.)

Iko Homestay can provide snorkelling and sightseeing tours to all the local attractions.

Diving with Iko Homestay

Iko Homestay guests can dive by separate arrangement with the neighbouring Soul Scuba Divers or Yenbuba Homestay.

If you want to dive with Soul, then book your diving there before booking your accommodation at Iko.

Yenbuba accepts walk-in divers if they have spare capacity on the day. (If you want to be guaranteed to be able to dive every day, then it's best to book accommodation at a place with an on-site dive center.)

  • To note: what is shown as “Nus Raja Ampat Bungalows” on Google maps is now part of Iko Homestay.

We spent 6 nights at Iko, it was our first accomodation in Raja. After reading lots of reviews (including lots of negative ones) of the homestays on Kri, we came with low expectations – well our expectations were far exceeded and we loved our stay.

    – Iko arguably has the best view of any homestay on the island. You have unobstructed views of Mansuar, the sunset and the huge sandbank that forms at low tide (tip: ask for one of the bungalows right on the tip when you arrive).
    – the bungalow is basic but everything works as expected. The highlights were the two hammocks and the fan that we could use from dusk until the morning (although the generator sometimes was switched off at random times of the night)
    – NO RATS or traces of rats were found. We kept all food and creams in the safety box.
    – the food was tasty and nutritious and always served on time (7AM, 12AM, 7PM). We always had rice and a variety of veg and protein. The food was always more than enough.
    – Sometimes only white bread and peanut butter/jam/chocolate was served for breakfast. If we asked for extra eggs or fruit they would prepare it for us.

    Important to note:
    – the family doesn’t speak a word of English. The best way to communicate with them was in Indonesian over WhatsApp (ChatGPT is a much better translator than Google translate)
    – the family are lovely people although a bit reserved so they will probably never approach you first. They live on site so were always easy to find if we had a request (e.g. extra food, boat tour or boat transfer etc). Every time they were super accommodating and satisfied our requests – just don’t be afraid to approach them!

    – they took us to manta ridge, they knew exactly what they were doing, we saw lots of mantas. The boat was 1mil shared between 4. We even made an extra stop along the way to swim with dolphins.
    – the only slightly negative point is that it would be nice if they could clean up the trash brought by the tide. Although this is unfortunately a common problem across Raja Ampat

  • We spent nearly a week at Ike Homestay at the end of February 2026 and had a generally positive experience.

    Pick-up and Arrival:
We arrived on Kri Island alone. Upon reaching the main area, some people were in the common room and brought our belongings into our room. Conversation was brief and somewhat difficult due to their limited English.

    Room:
Our accommodation was a bungalow built over the water without an en-suite bathroom. The room was simple but functional, equipped with a raised mattress, a mosquito net, a small desk, a wooden chair, and power outlets.
The mattress was worn out and you kept sliding together. The duvet cover was very sweaty. We were glad we had brought our sleeping bags.
Outside, there was a balcony. Unfortunately, the hammock was broken, and there was no net/hammock over the water. We had only one plastic chair for two people outside.
Compared to the other bungalows, there were quite a lot; ours looked the least maintained.
We had power only during the night from around 6/7 pm to 7 am. There was no WiFi provided from the homestay.

The shared bathroom was generally clean. It included a western-style toilet with toilet paper, a shower, and also a squat toilet.
In the morning, the beach was quiet, full of waste from the sea, but was picked up by some locals.

Our bungalow had a boat parking spot. Sometimes the night was very noisy because the wooden parts touched the boat due to the waves and wind
Apart from occasional geckos, we did not encounter any cockroaches. But we saw many small reef sharks and fish in the water.

    Food:
Meals were served in a communal pavilion with large tables. Drinking water was available, as well as facilities to wash hands.
The food was okay, but a little bit less for the six people during our stay. Sometimes it was just one piece for each person.
Food was quite similar every day. Toasts, fried bananas, and fresh bananas for breakfast. Rice, vegetables, eggs in some sauce, fish, or meat for lunch and dinner.
Since we were diving day trips we sometimes asked for a lunch box. There we got some small portions of rice, fruit, and vegetables. It was okay.
To order the lunch boxes, we communicated with a translator, and sometimes it took us some time to find someone to ask, and we were not sure if they understood us properly.

    Location and Surroundings:
On the island of Kri, many homestays are very close to each other. Since we were on Kri to dive. Iko homestay provided a good spot for diving with Soul Divers. It took us less than five minutes to get there, which was very nice.

    General:
Communication was hard, and the people from the homestay didn’t have much interest in interacting with us.
Overall, it was sufficient and well located for diving. So most of the time, we stayed at the diving school.

  • Pros:
Power turned on from about 6pm to 6am which allowed a fan to keep bugs away at night.
Gorgeous view of Mansuar Island during sunset. Fantastic house reef snorkelling.
    Quick walk to Dive shop.
    Box lunches made upon requests.

    Cons:
Hosts do not speak English. We were able to use google translate though. They barely communicated meal times or pointed out the toilets and shower, we figured it out.
During our 10 day stay we were not offered a change of bedding or towels nor did they empty the garbage in our room or do a sweep. Even just one room clean and change of shower towels would have been great.

  • I spent 4 nights lately at Iko Homestay and I totally loved it. I had booked 2 nights and extended my stay for another 2 nights. I was impressed by the place, the view and nearby coral reef. The host tries their best to make their guests feel like at home. Even thought they do not speak English, they always do their best to show you around and let you know, where is everything you need, like drinking water, bathroom and when the meals are being served. And there is always a Google translator to help you around! The place is super clean and well maintained. Sunsets there are beyond expectations. The best part of it is just to sit on your balcony in the hammock and enjoy the view. IF you are bored with it, you just jump into the water to swim to the nearest coral reef which is amazing by the way. Or just stay on the balcony and look for baby sharks (mostly in the morning). The food is fresh and tasty, every day something different. I’m very glad this was my first choice and I will definitely come back. If you like to scuba dive, there is Soul Divers place nearby. And small shop just next door. Thank you for having me and see you next time!

  • Me and my friend stayed at Iko Homestay for 5 nights. The view was amazing and the house reef was the best I’ve ever seen. There were sting rays and baby sharks that swam under our bungalow at night. The family that owns the homestay was very sweet and so helpful, making sure we took a lunchbox if we went on a day trip, the food was delicious and there was plenty too. The electricity was on all night, usually from 6pm to 6am or 7am so you have a fan all night and the shower wasn’t a bucket shower, it was a coconut head that worked very well. The overwater bungalow had a comfy raised bed and it had a good amount of space and a net and hammock to relax on too. There was a scuba diving shop and a mini shop a 2 minute walk away. I would definitely stay again!

  • My family and I stayed at IKO from 28th October to 5th November 2025. The homestay was clean and dry, (we arrived in a big storm and although there was a little leak in the corner of the room the majority was dry and very cosy). The toilet block was also very clean and the shower good. And the power stayed on all night, unlike some of the neighbouring homestays so their fan kept us cool throughout the night. The food was varied, very tasty and there was lots of it) compliments to the chef! The family didn’t speak English but were very smiley and sweet and any messages about packed lunches for diving trips, or organising the their little boat for the trip back to Waisai where translated via google and sent via their WhatsApp. Scuba Diving is a 2 minute walk away and there is a little shop around the corner which sells snacks and COLD beer 🙂 which was an unexpected surprise. (You’ll need cash for this.)

    • Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Florence 🙂

Just a note for other readers: Florence is mistaken in believing that Iko and Nus are the same homestay. It’s an easy mistake to make, because they are right next to each other, but they are indeed two separate homestays.

  • Iko Homestay was our first accommodation in Raja Ampat. We stayed there for five nights.

The accommodations are typically simple for Raja Ampat, which is to be expected. However, the furnishings vary from bungalow to bungalow. You just have to be lucky with what you get. We had two very uncomfortable wooden chairs on the terrace. Other bungalows had sun loungers or lounge furniture.

Communication with the family was virtually non-existent; we were given no information whatsoever.

Because of this, we booked our tours in the neighbourhood.

Breakfast consisted of toast, peanut butter and jam every day.
Coffee, tea and powdered milk were always available.

Lunch and dinner were often the same and not very varied. There were various sauces available.

The toilets and showers were standard.

The view and the sunsets are impressive. With a bit of luck, you can see blacktip reef sharks directly from the balcony.

The transfer to the next homestay went smoothly.

    A generous 3 starrs

  • We stayed 4 days at Iko Homestay at the end of our trip to Raja Ampat.
Overall, our stay went fairly well.

    Positive points:
    • The bungalows are clean. If you store your food outside in the plastic box provided, you won’t have issues with rats — unlike some neighboring homestays.
    • The view is incredible — probably the best you can get on Kri Island. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets, and the color of the water is stunning.
    • There are great snorkeling spots nearby.
    • There was an actual showerhead, which was really nice and made the showers much more comfortable.

    Negative points:
    • The welcome was disappointing. No information was given, and it was very difficult to communicate with the family, even through a translator.
They didn’t show much interest in us, barely spoke to us, and didn’t offer any excursions.
Moreover, Iko Homestay tried to charge us 3.5 million for a boat transfer that we eventually got for 1.8 million through another homestay.
    • The food was not very varied. We were served piles of toast for several breakfasts, and the overall effort in this area was lacking.
No changes were made despite other guests complaining and even showing them what the neighboring homestay offered for breakfast.

Everything we did on Kri had to be organized with other homestays

  • Very nice family, excellent food (the best one we had in Raja Ampat -> different every day and in a big quantity), clean toilets, nice view from the bungalow, plastic container available together with towels and mosquito net, amaca and table with chairs in the veranda (not in all the bungalows), power/light provided from sunset to sunrise, good phone signal, super close to Soul Scuba and Yenbuba diving, beers available at the local market. In general, a very good value for money. Thank you 😉

  • We stayed in Iko Homestay for 4 nights and had a great time! The Homestay is conveniently located right next to Soul Scuba Divers (definitely recommend) and next to a local shop where you can buy some snacks and drinks. The Homestay itself was better than advertised on a couple of aspects. There was an actual shower, instead of dip Mandi style. The power was actually on all night, instead of only in the evening, so we could use the fan (also not in the ad) all night. A plastic box was provided to store your food. One of us was vegetarian and they took this into account when preparing our food. The food was very tasty, on time every day and had a good variation (but as expected, rice everyday). The family was very kind. They did not speak English well, but we managed to communicate through google translate. We would definitely recommend.

  • Iko Homestay was added to Stay Raja Ampat today, and so does not have any reviews yet.

It’s really hard for homestays new to the website.

Why not take a chance? Be the first to book and submit some feedback for Yomima and Munyar.

They’ll be so happy to see you! 😊🙏
