Details
Located on Kri’s southern shore, Gibran Divers Guest House offers four private, over-water bungalows, and three VIP beach bungalows.
See the photos in the gallery above.
VIP bungalows have tile floors and ensuite bathrooms. Note that a premium is charged for the VIP bungalows.
Meals are served in a wood-floored, over-water dining room. Free drinking water and tea and coffee making supplies are always freely available to guests, and there is also a refrigerator that guests are welcome to use. (Bear in mind, though, that electricity is only available for about 6 hours a day.)
Over-water bungalow guests share a 2-room bathroom building. One bathroom has a western style toilet, while the other has a raised squat toilet.
Electricity is provided by generator and is available from sunset to about midnight. Gibran usually receives a good 4G phone signal that supports a data connection.
English is spoken at Gibran Divers Guest House.
There are no villages on Kri, so you’ll need to bring any essential consumeables with you. Basic supplies can be purchased from kiosks at Yenbuba village on nearby Pulau Mansuar.
As at all Raja Ampat Homestays, Gibran Divers Guest House has no safe way of disposing of inorganic trash (especially plastic). So, if you want to avoid the trashing of paradise, please do take yours away with you when you leave.
Also in common with all other homestays, Sundays are a day of church and family obligations at Gibran Divers Guest House. Homestays will provide Waisai transfers for guests who must arrive/depart on Sundays, but no other organised boat trips or guided activities are available on Sundays.
Transport / Getting there
One way transfers between Gibran Divers Guest House and Waisai cost IDR 1,000,000.
A speedboat capable of carrying up to 8 passengers is used, and the total cost is shared by passengers.
Activities
Diving and snorkelling
As the name suggests, Gibran Divers Guest House has an on-site dive center. See Gibran's October 2025 price list for dive prices.
PLEASE NOTE that Gibran only has 12 sets of diving equipment. When more than 12 guests are in residence, dives will be shared as fairly as possible. Please do not book at Gibran if you want to be guaranteed to be able to join every dive.
Gibran's house reef provides great snorkelling, and dolphins and turtles are frequent visitors. If you're a competent swimmer (and can read tidal currents) then a host of superb nearby snorkelling sites are accessible without needing a boat.
Gibran Divers Guest House tours and sightseeing
Gibran can arrange boats for snorkelling and sightseeing trips to anywhere you might want to visit. Just ask!
See our Kri Island page for an overview of the island and its attractions.

We also had the same treatment despite having booked 3 months ago.
Their behavior is extremely incorrect: they take advantage of the fact that the people arriving have no other option than to accept.
The owner does not exist, and the person at the reception appears regretful, but in my opinion he is an excellent actor.
I thank Stay Raja Ampat for the correctness and for having refunded us and I hope that this structure will be definitively banned on their site

Hello,
We had 2 seperate bookings for Gibran
* December 25 to 26
* December 29 to 30
When we arrrived there was ( like with so many othter travellers an overbooking ).
They arranged that we could stay the 2 booking dates in Turtle Homestay ( a very good homestay).
When we were going to leave the homestay, we were asked to pay the Turtle Homestay, because Gibran did not pay for the nights we stayed there.
We had a argue with the staff of Gibran and it took an hour to fix it ( Turtle agreed with a payment a few days later).
We received confirmation that they paid it, but we did not like the argue.
That’s so disappointing, Marc 🙁
As noted above, we will not be accepting bookings for Gibran Homestay until they fix this ongoing problem.
We are very responsive by email, and your booking confirmation emails contain local support contact numbers.
If you had reached out to us on discovering the problem, then the whole drama could have been avoided.

I stayed at Gibran homestay for 6 days and unfortunately there are a lot of negative things to say. These are mainly all due to the owner’s (Kristian) management and not to the actual manager there who spends his days running around and doing his best to give guests a good experience regardless of the circumstances. Furthermore, after talking to other guests from other homestays and from Gibran’s, the “conclusion” is that it used to be a good homestay but has gone worse and worse in the recent months.
Pros
– As mentioned, the manager does his best to provide a good service regardless of the situation and that is important to point out.
– The staff is kind and friendly.
– Food is good, simple but not bad (though not enough).
– They were super accommodating with me being a vegetarian and alway made sure I’d have some eggs even though it meant extra work for them. Thank you for that!
– The VIP bungalow I stayed in was clean and functional. Simple but it was fine: running water, a shower, western style toilet, a hammock, etc.
– I booked through Stay Raja Ampat and I highly recommend doing that. They were super helpful throughout the booking process but also with the refund issue I had, especially as Gibran’s owner never responded (see below).
Cons:
– The owner double booked my room (and this was the case of every single guest who arrived the coming dates while I was there) for the first night. I had booked a VIP bungalow with my own bathroom and I was put instead at a homestay on the other side of the island with a shared bathroom.
– Kristian (the owner and only direct point of contact with the homestay after booking) is highly unresponsive. Before coming to Kri he replied to some of my requests, but for some others he just ignored them. Once I arrived in Kri he never ever responded again. These were all important messages like getting refunded for the VIP bungalow I had booked but didn’t get or needing his help to get to and from Waisai, etc.
– Food is just not enough. There wasn’t one guest who didn’t still feel hungry after meals.
– During my time there the beach wasn’t cleaned and was full of trash. I had to go to the other homestays where they were cleaning the beach.
– The guy from the new “dive center” kept giving me the wrong information (whether it was intentional or because of the language barrier that I don’t know). I asked to go diving on December 25th and 26th. He said that no one was working on the island in the 25th so no activities at all that day (fair enough, my bad for thinking they didn’t celebrate Christmas). For the 26th, he told me everyone was going to be in church so I could only dive in the afternoon, if at all. I walked to the dive center just next to Gibran’s and it turned out to not be true, they were working during these days. I also rented some fins and a snorkel for him and he said it was 50 000 IDR, without any further information. When I gave the equipment back two days later he charged me 150 000 IDR, saying he told me it was 50K a day (not true). In the end it isn’t a lot of money but what annoyed me is the dishonesty if that is what it was.

I booked Gibran for 5 nights but was only able to stay there for 2 nights due to overbooking. The first 3 nights I was placed at the neighboring Firdas homestay, which in my opinion is inferior. The irony is that I initially had Firdas booked but cancelled my reservation (and paid a cancellation fee) to stay in Gibran only to end up at Firdas anyways. For 2 days I was promised that I could move the next day only to learn the next day that I have to wait another day. There were at least 3 guests arriving after me who were also placed at Firdas despite having booked Gibran. To me this seems very suspicious of a scheme to fill the apparently far less popular Firdas homestay with guests (the owners are related I was told by Gibran’s manager). This was also the only homestay where I never got a response to any Whatsapp message that I sent.
The homestay itself is nice with relatively large huts, and very nice hammocks to relax in and view the sunset. With 7 huts this is a larger homestay and it can get crowded at the dinner table. I was travelling solo, so I welcomed the company and it was easy to share trips with others, as there were different trips every day and the homestay has 2 boats with shade covers that can take 6-8 persons. The reef right in front of the homestay is in relatively poor conditions by Raja Ampat standards (large areas of broken and dead corrals), but the reef is much nicer past the jetties that are to the left or right of the homestay. Overall I mostly enjoyed my stay but the overbooking situation was very annoying.
That’s very annoying indeed Joerg, and substitutions like this are unacceptable.
Stay Raja Ampat guarantees that you will receive the room type that you booked, at the homestay you booked.
If guests do not receive the room type that they booked, then all they have to do is contact us, and we will refund in full for every night that they do not.
We can not find any record of you reaching out to us about this at the time, as recommended in your booking confirmation email. Have we missed something?

A very beautiful homestay with overwater bungalows as well as beachfront rooms. The food is delicious, always plentiful, with freshly caught fish or chicken available. They also have a card reader so you can pay without any extra fees.
The snorkeling is fantastic — if you swim to the right from the jetty, you can see turtles, reef sharks, and colorful corals. The dive trips are excellent too, with good equipment and fair prices.
They recently added internet, all rooms are equipped with fans and raised beds, and the jetty is currently under construction but almost finished.
Overall, a great experience!

We were disappointed by our stay. It didn’t feel like a Homestay, more like a cheep over booked hotel. We have no idea who the owner was. The food and water would run out and if the boats were full, you couldn’t go anywhere!
The main problem was over booking, leaving some guests staying next door or in poorer rooms that expected.
This was probably the least clean Homestay we stayed in as they rushed to make rooms available.
We left early and were pleased to go?!

I stayed 10 nights in Gibran for diving with Soul Scuba and I really enjoyed this homestay, very friendly, very beautiful view and the bungalows on the water are great, I couldn’t dive with them because I had already booked with Soul Scuba but I had very good feedback from other guests about their dive center.

I stayed at Gibran for 6 nights and had a great time. I stayed in one of the new on land bungalows. Julia and Mimi are helping the family with bookings and excursions and are amazing. This part of the islands is a lot more quiet, which is great. Saw a cuscus next door and a walking shark near the bungalow. I was scuba diving most of the days, but joined the Manta & Batanta trip. We saw 3 manthas while snorkeling! Food was good was was (and didn’t see any rats, as many people worry about this). Great place to stay!

Kristian and his family made our stay really memorable. Overall, the homestay was really clean and had fantastic food. We also really appreciated that extra fruit was being served during all meals. Whilst it was initially quite difficult to communicate with Kristian prior to arriving, once we were there he was fantastic at organising day trips, for example to see the mantas near Aborek. The house reef is also fantastic.

We stayed with Gibran for a couple of nights and absolutely loved it! The beds are comfortable, the food was very delicious and varied, and they catered to vegetarians as well. The rooms come with an amazing hammock, and great view. We loved staying in the South Bay, as it’s quite and has a beautiful housereef right in front. At Gibran they offer many different trips for a good price and especially Rio who is working there helped us so much and made our stay unforgettable. He spoke English really well, making it easy to communicate, and he organized everything for us. We had some great conversations with him! Don’t forget to bring your own mask as it‘s just easier to snorkel directly and you don’t need to rely on mask availability on the island. I think Kri is a really good island to meet other people to share a boat / trip with, as prices are per boat. We‘d definitely recommend Gibran!

I booked for 9 days in July 2023 and left after 5 days to move to the northern side of Kri to another homestay which offered more for less money. The overwater huts are super noisy at night with the winds and super hot during the afternoon being fully exposed to the sun. The mossie net was actually a thicker fabric meant to keep out sun for a beach cabana. This fabric was attached firmly to and covered the whole top of the bed so it trapped in the heat which is really hot throughout the nights here. Other homestays have power for 12 hours each night and provide a fan and these honestays are cheaper than Gibran.
You cannot see the sunsets from the southern side of Kri. The house reef on the northern side is much longer and there is a good scuba centre Soul Scuba on the northern side. Crossing from southern to northern Kri is difficult as the daily tide cut the south off until close to midday. Climbing over the jungle hill is not that safe as you have to scramble up a steep hill til you reach the plateau and try and find a poorly kept track and then slowly go down another steep hill with no footholds and you grab onto trees to stop slipping in the wet and injuring yourself. Rio the manager seems nice enough but not that helpful. I asked for a cotton towel as the polyester towels provided do not absorb water and are scratchy. 4 days after my request still no towel and he was not around for another 4 days at least.
There are other homestays on the southern side that offer on beach bungalows with own bathroom for less than 60,000 IDR so much better value than Gibran. The one good item i noted at Gibran was the hammocks they had bought were proper net style hammocks rather than most other homestays that only provide plastic sheet style hammocks.

I had a fantastic time at Gibran Homestay. I stayed here for a week at the end of May, 2023. The over water bungalow was awesome. The food was delicious and varied. We often had fresh fish cooked with different sauces every time, usually with rice and vegetables. We had chicken a few times. Some vegetable fritters. Definitely heavy on the fish & chicken so not vegan or vegetarian friendly. It was all good food. Breakfast was small – more like a snack, so if you need a big breakfast, I recommend bringing some non-perishable snacks with you (and keep them in a sealed ziplock bag to prevent ants from getting in). There are 2 bathrooms total (shared with all guests) each with a gravity-fed fresh water shower, one has a squat toilet and one a regular toilet. We had electricity from around 6pm to midnight every night. The host family was very very nice. The snorkeling right outside the homestay is mind blowing. We saw tons of different fish, crabs and jellyfish just from our balcony. Several black tip reef sharks would come around in the afternoons. The bed was comfortable and we had a mosquito net. We were able to organize 2 boat tours with the homestay. Riio was an awesome help – he got me medicine and other things from Waisai when I got congested. Overall it’s a very basic accommodation but you get more than what you pay for here with the meals being included and the wonderful service. If you’re expecting a fancy/modern place, this isn’t for you, but if you’re okay sharing a bathroom and not having much electricity and want to stay in a really beautiful and peaceful place, I highly highly recommend Gibran homestay. Amazing overall experience.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Sophie🙏
Just a note for vegan/vegetarian readers: All homestays can provide vegan/vegetarian meals – just let your hosts know what you need! 🙂
Even better! Then I definitely recommend this for everyone 👌

We stayed here for 6 days. The service was good. The food was good. But one das Shell bought junk food from the market. The food tasted terrible and after that i had problem with my stomach. I still will give the Homestay 5 Stars.

I enjoyed my 5 days at Gidrans homestay, the food was good and varied with many different flavors, snacks too. My over the water bungalow was clean and comfortable. The reef out front is good, I saw a 4 foot barracuda, a cuttlefish and many other sea creatures. Thanks Chris, maybe I will see you next year.

I stayed at Gibran homestay 5 days in February. I first stayed in an over water bungalow orientated true west but moved after one day to a beachfront bungalow. Although the poverwater bungalows are nice & large during the day it was just to hot for me (especially in the afternoon) and there was not enough terrace space to stay comfortable in the hammock. The beachside bungalows are big with huge terrace and I always found a spot with shade for my hammock. The food they offered was above the average in RA: really tasty, plentiful & always fresh fruit. The only thing annoying was the nearly constant noise from the building activity at Gibran & the noise from either the generator or the diving compressor at Lumba Lumba at the time I stayed there.

We stayed at Gibran homestay 4 days in an over water bungalow large enough to accommodate 3 people. Great food, really tasty and plentiful. There is only one clean and large bathroom with shower but others are being built. Just in front of the homestay great snorkeling. We can totally recommend this accommodation. On the last evening in Kri, Chris and the homestay guys organized dinner on the beach with fire and songs to greet our departure. Thanks Chris!

I arrived when the homestay was barely new. It is clearly the nicest homestay bungalow of Kri and the nicest I’ve seen in Raja Ampat. Spacious, with a nice bed and mosquito net, a table, two chairs, a hammock over the sea. Clean, an insulation layer on the floor and a carpet at the entrance. The door and windows could also be locked. Just in front you have great snorkeling. For diving, it can be arranged, but a 10 to 15 min walk to another jetty is necessary to reach the pick-up points.
The host goes for beach cleaning very often, trying to decrease the negative impact of all the tourists present in Kri and throwing plastic on the beach or at sea…
The food was plenty and good. The host was helpful and honest.
I can totally recommend the homestay. The only warning: Scuba Diving from Kri tend to be a little bit messier (more expensive and busy than other places).
Also, there are plenty of sharks in the water around Kri. If you like their presence, you should be happy. If you are not at ease with them. Probably you should consider another island.

I stayed at Gibran homestay with my brother for over a week, and I must say that the Pak Chris and his family far exceeded our expectations.
To begin with, the homestay is located on a relatively secluded (even by Raja Ampat standards) island of Kri and we found that being away from more populated areas elevated our experience that much more. Pak Chris and his family showed us hospitality at it’s best – attuned to all our needs, whether it was arranging boat rides, contacting dive shops, respecting our privacy, serving up delicious meals, arranging for snorkeling gear and even brining a fridge from Wasai so that the beers we bought from Sorong would stay cold.
While doing our research for homestays in Raja Ampat, we had read a lot of reviews of homestays where earlier guests had issues with the quality/quantity of food being served with some even alleging that very often leftovers (on an island that rarely has electricity or refrigeration facilities) from the previous day were served. With this is mind, we had actually taken a lot of additional food items with us but at Gibran we barely consumed what we had taken with us because not only was the food was always freshly cooked but they even went beyond expectations to ensure that we had a wide variety of options every day.
All in all, it genuinely felt that we were staying in the home of family, so much so that we are already planning a second trip back to Raja Ampat during the manta season and we won’t be staying anywhere but at Gibran Homestay! 🙂

Pak Chris and his family run an excellent homestay on the south of Kri!!
Location wise, it’s away from the more crowded western side of the island making for a peaceful & charming section of the island. Not to worry if your diveshop isn’t nearby, they pick you up before each dive right in front of your bungalow so it’s no hassle if you’re not located near your diveshop. The homestay also provides transportation with their boats if you want to get to other islands or to near by snorkeling spots.
Food is delightful and delicious. I stayed here 7 nights and never once felt like the food was repetitive or stale (as can be the case in some of the other homestays). And every other food requests were welcomed by th family.
Beers! Now that’s where Gibran Homestay surprised me! When Pak Chris noticed we were having to go to a dive shop to chill out beers (which we purchased at Sorong) every evening, he arranged to arrange for a fridge from his hometown of Weigo! This was truly hospitality above and beyond!
Finally, the family of 6 are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. Pak Chris’s children are fun to be around. When you find some quiet time with Pak Chris, you can request him to sing some local songs with his handmade ukelele, its fantastic!

We stayed here 6 nights whilst diving with Soul Scuba. The food was excellent (especially when speaking with other divers who said the food wasn’t great at their homestay). It was a good selection each day with great flavour (also always hot!) the family are really cute and the rooms are spacious with mosquito nets and a proper bed. Lovely view of the sunset going behind mansaur in the evening. Also serves cold beers. Would highly recommend staying here.

The place is beautiful, the view from the bungalows is awesome, and the food is absolutely delicious! But Willy wasnt very helpful with me (to find a share boat trip for exemple).
