Details

Fam Wall Homestay occupies a tiny island near Keruwo, just east of Piaynemo.

One private over-water bungalow and a 2-room, over-water family bungalow are available.

Note that the family bungalow rooms can be separately booked: If you want both rooms, then select “2 x Room in a bungalow” on the booking form above.

All bungalow rooms sleep two on raised beds. Mosquito nets, sheets, pillows and bolsters are provided, and bedding for a third person can be provided if needed.

All bungalows have verandahs with ocean views, and electric fans, chairs and small tables are provided.

Meals are served in Fam Wall Homestay’s over-water dining room. Drinking water and tea and coffee making supplies are always freely available to guests in the dining room.

Guests share a two-room bathroom building on land. One room has a western style toilet. The other has two showers, and dip-mandi (bucket and ladle) bathing for times when the electricity is off and the water pump not working.

Electricity is supplied by generator, and is available from sunset to around midnight.

Fam Wall Homestay receives a weak and unreliable 4G phone signal. A slow internet connection is sometimes possible, but guests should be prepared to be offline during their stay.

Very little English is spoken at Fam Wall Homestay. Be sure to bring an offline translation app or phrasebook to ease communication.

Saukabu village on Pulau Pam is a fifteen minute boat ride away, and basic supplies can be purchased in shops there.

Please be aware that, as everywhere in Raja Ampat, there is no way to properly dispose of inorganic waste at Fam Wall Homestay. To avoid contributing to the trashing of paradise, all homestays ask that you take all your inorganic trash away with you when you leave.

Occasional diving can be arranged with nearby Lagoon Homestay. (If you want to dive every day, then it’s best to stay at a place with an on-site dive center.)

  • We loved our stay at Fam Wall Homestay! Highly recommend it. It’s fairly rustic and remote, which is really lovely — the Fam Wall, which you can swim to from your bungalow porch, is one of the most beautiful reefs we snorkeled in Raja Ampat. The family is really lovely: sweet, friendly, and fun to be around. Very tasty food (fish, vegetables, rice), too!

  • We had a great stay with this lovely family! As the only Homestay on this island with just a few huts, it feels remote: exactly what we wanted! The family is very sweet and helpful, willing to take you on a trip anywhere. Melissa’s garden and Fam Wall are great spots for diving, if you want to go snorkelling, ask them to bring you to rufas or just enjoy the house reef. It is the best house reef we’ve seen in Raja. 4G internet is only available during the night and is not always stable, but that was no problem for a few nights! Would 100% recommend this place. Best regards to Ambrosius and this family

  • Fam Wall Homestay is awesome in every way! The family is so great and friendly, always smiling and eager to please. The food is very good and there is plenty served even though the homestay was full for a couple of our days. The location is amazing. They will happily take you to any of the nearby sites like Piaynemo, Melissa’s Garden, Rufus, or the Fam Islands. Or you can just kick out to the reef in front and to the right for excellent snorkeling or kick around to the left to snorkel Fam Wall. Both reefs are outstanding. The bungalows are over the water and very clean and tidy. They even made up our bed every day for us. Truly an excellent homestay and an awesome family. Thank you!

  • We were very happy at Famwall homestay: very nice family, good location and really good food.
    Enjo nabor! 💜

  • I had a very enjoyable stay. Ambrosius and his wife Mary were kind and looked after me very well when I had a poorly tummy ending up taking me to the medical centre in Waisai. I could not of asked more of them. A big thank you to both of them. Google translate was used a lot

  • We stayed for a night in Fam wall and absolutely loved our stays. The view was incredible. The food was great and the hosts family really did their best to welcome us. Baby sharks all over the cottage. With other types of fish. Real beautiful.

  • We had an unforgettable time at Fam Wall Homestay in mid-November. This is a new homestay near Piaynemo and probably the best, as we had previously visited other nearby homestays and had the opportunity to compare them. We were comfortable both in our bungalow and in the well-equipped bathroom and spacious beautiful dining room. What was particularly impressive was the constant attentiveness to our needs from the host of the homestay, Ambrosius and his wife Maria. Maria prepared very tasty and varied dishes, Ambrosius caught fresh fish for us, and their friend Joshua was indispensable in terms of communication and organizing our stay at the homestay. In the dining room we always had access to the internet and the opportunity to see many reef sharks swimming nearby. Through our binoculars we could observe the amazingly beautiful red-blue-green parrots that made their nest in the nearest tree. Day and night, accompanied by Joshua, we snorkeled on the beautiful house reef, which turned out to be intact and had lobsters, stingrays and large fish. Equally interesting was a boat trip to Fam Wall, which is located not far from the homestay and has many multi-colored corals and exotic fish. And late in the evening Joshua showed us coconut crabs that lived a few minutes walk from our bungalow. The two days and nights we spent at the homestay were so fabulous that we did not want to move to another homestay that we had booked in advance. We can confidently recommend this homestay to anyone and wish its hospitable hosts all the best.

  • First of all, it is simmilar to other homestays. So similar that it feels like Stayrajaampat is a francise operation. (Friedly people, no real breakfast, no storageplace for clothes etc)

Here are what makes Fam wall different to some other homestays, first the positive:
Better house reef than most places, on my first dip in the water I met 20 green humpheads, the largest being the largest I have ever seen. They are not permanent residents though, I never saw them again. Good mix of hard and soft corals. The wall itself is on the back of the island. May have strong current which means you have to keep a distance because of the danger of overhanging rock. But you do not need the wall, the area in the front of the homestay is really nice.
Towel and blanket is there when you arrive. An extra roll of toilet paper is within reach from the toilet seat, no need to run arround in search of «tisu roll».
On the negative side, it is difficult to swim out, and in again, on the very lowest tide. There is very little land to go for a walk on. Bring a good book for low tide.

  • Fam Wall Homestay was added to the website today, and so has no reviews yet.

It’s very difficult for new homestays to get guests, because everyone wants to see reviews.

No reviews = no guests = no reviews. You get the picture.

Why not help Fam Wall Homestay escape from this trap?

Go on! They’ll be so very happy to see you. 🙏
