Eight bungalows are available:

  • Two VIP beach bungalows (These have ensuite bathrooms)
  • Four private beach bungalows, and
  • Two private land bungalows.

The beach bungalows are over water at high tide.

The bungalows sleep two on raised beds. Bedding for a third guest can be provided if needed. The usual bedding and mosquito nets are supplied, and all rooms are provided with a small table, electrical outlets, and room light switches.

All bungalows have covered verandahs with chairs and a small table.

Meals are served in Fam Homestay’s beachfront dining room. Free drinking water and tea and coffee making supplies are always available for guests there.

Private bungalow guests share a two-roomed bathroom building. A western style toilet and dip mandi (bucket) bathing ia avialble in one room. The other bathroom has bucket bathing and a shower.

Fam Homestay receives a strong 4G phone signal, and data connections are usually possible. In December 2025, Fam Homestay installed a starlink service. Free use of the starlink connection is available for guests.

Electricity is supplied by generator and is available from sunset to around midnight.

Only a little English is spoken at Fam Homestay, so bringing an offline translation app or phrasebook is recommended.

Saupapir village is a short walk away. Be sure to stock up with anything you consider essential, because local villages only have basic supplies available.

Safe rubbish disposal is non-existent in Raja Ampat. Please take all your inorganic trash away with you when you leave. Leaving it anywhere in the islands will only contribute to the trashing of paradise.

Transport / Getting there

Transfers between Waisai and Fam Homestay are by longboat which can carry up to 4 people.

The trip cost is IDR 2,500,000 and is shared by passengers.

Public Boat to the Fam Islands

(Obviously, if you are going to arrive on the cargo boat, then you don’t need to request a Waisai pickup when submitting the booking form above.)

Here’s what you need to know about getting the cargo boat to Fam.

Activities

Be sure to bring snorkelling gear, as there are many excellent snorkelling sites around Fam Homestay.

Saupapir village is a short walk away, and walking paths connect Saupapir to Pam's two other villages, and to a jetty in a bay on the northern side of the island.

Fam Homestay offers a variety of local sightseeing and snorkelling excursions, including to Wayag. See this October 2025 pricelist for a selection of popular options.

  • Nice place. We had a good time. Staff was helpfull organising trips. Piaynemo viewpoint was close and fam wall was one of the best snorkeling spots we ever saw.
Breakfast was too sweet for our liking but after asking they mad some eggs instead of cakes. Go there, you will have a good stay.

  • I arrived at Fam homestay after a storm on a rainy day, with the beach and water full of garbage. It is not their fault but apparently caused by the currents at that location. They did their best to clean it up quickly, but just past the homestay, the garbage piles up at the beach. Food was good, the hut was fine, and there was good phone service due to a cell tower in the neighboring village. While I was there, starlink service was installed at the homestay, which then made for great Wifi service (when electricity was on). This is a great location for trips to Piaynemo, it is just about 20min away. I also did a snorkelling trip to nearby reefs that was also great.

  • thank you fam homestay for a nice stay. the food was great. the coral reef in front of the bungalow was average. the ideal place if you want to see the pianemo or snorkeling in the area around. at our request, the hosts even took us to the opposite island to watch coconut crabs and on the way we saw bioluminescence. the bungalow is really nicely furnished. the only thing we really didn’t like was a lot of plastic that was everywhere on the beach, I understand that it’s not the family’s fault.

  • We spent 3 nights here in October & would return in a heartbeat! What a beautiful place! You are right on the water, with a beautiful view in front of you. The food is good, tasty, and plentiful. Everything is thoughtfully done and I love the care taken in how the place is designed – the sculptural and decorative work done by brother Joel really gives the place a special feel. We went on an excursion to Piaynemo, Star Lagoon & 2 snorkelling spots, chosen according to sea conditions. They were so generous with their time and we had the best day!! And the reef out the front is pretty interesting also! Big thanks to Armandus & Keti and the whole family for their care. PS Do be aware Fam Island is a long way – whilst one day the sea looks like glass, on another the crossing may not be safe. Just take this into consideration in your plans, allowing some flexibility.

  • We spent 4 nights in April at this homestay. Our hut was right on the beach and very spacious with a nice veranda and 2 hammocks. The entire property is lovingly designed. The water for showering is of very good quality, meaning it is not salty. The food was very tasty, and the portions were more than sufficient.
The reef in front of the huts is not extraordinary, but quite interesting for snorkeling. Unfortunately, the weather during our stay was not very pleasant. There was a lot of wind and even storms, which led to enormous amounts of waste floating in the sea. The family always tried to keep their own beach clean, but with such amounts, it was only partially possible. The weather also disrupted our planned excursions – such as to see the mantas at the Andau Islands. At some point, the current carried most of the waste away, and then this is a very idyllic corner of the Fam Islands that is not so touristy.
Occasionally, dozens of dolphins leap along the reef edge. One evening we were also able to enjoy a spectacular sunset. So, anyone who wants to spend a few days in a pleasant atmosphere with nice people and good food is in exactly the right place with Peres and his family.

  • We stayed at Fam Homestay for 4 days starting with the 21th of April.
On the day we arrived there was a storm and sadly the storm brought a lot of waste floating along the islands and covering the beautiful beaches. This happend this days at a lot of other islands in Raja Ampat too.
We been told that this is happening since 2-3 years always in April/Mai. This was a big shock for us then before this day we didn’t experienced waste in the sea.
After 2 days we could go to the water again, because the floating waste almost disappeared. We experienced than beautiful snorkeling infront of the Homestay. Even saw a blacktip reef shark.
And watched dolfins directly from the terrace swimming by.
The Homestay is very lovely build and decorated our hut even had a private bathroom, so fare only the shower could be used but this was great. When we were there they were working on finishing the rest, so that the toilet can be used soon.
We watched amazing sunsets from the terrace and enjoyed living with the very friendly locals.
We went one day diving with Andau Divers to Melissa Garden and Pam Wall with a stop at Piaynemo. The trip was grate but the communication with them was difficult and they even charged extra for the pickup.

  • We stayed there for 3 days. We saw dolphins and mantas from the balcony. Peres guided us to go swim with the mantas, we were alone with 4 of them. Amazing experience.

The linen were clean, no rats seen, and you got a shower head !
    The meal were also good.

  • I stayed in this wonderful place for 5 days in February. Many thanks to Perez, Amandus and their whole family for their hospitality.
This is a quiet, peaceful place, in the evenings you can watch the sunsets right from the bungalow. The bungalows are very nicely decorated with artistic taste. On the terrace there are all sorts of exotic shells and corals. Every day there was delicious food, fresh fruits, salads, fish and much more, I did not need anything.

The reef is right in front of the bungalow. Beautiful coastline with palm trees, you can walk along the island on the sandy beach.

Perez’s family is very friendly. I took my guitar with me, and it turned out that Perez has a wonderful double bass and plays music well. We improvised some music together a couple of times! We parted very warmly, I wanted to stay here for a few more days.

Sprchový gel a všechno co ke sprše potřebujete si dovezte s sebou.

Často servírují i tofu, vajíčkové placky…

Jednoduše a srozumitelně.

  • Best experience in raja ampat! We really enjoyed our stay at Fam.

We had a good cabin over the water with a fan and a hammock. Nice beach and house reef in front with beautiful corals, lots of fish, black tip shark, turtles, nudibranches, octopus, stingrays and more.

Took a trip to stunning Piaynemo, Rufas and snorkeling after we saw 7 mantas! All for ourselves for about half an hour. Unforgettable experience.

Toilet and bathroom were new, clean and much better than at other homestays. Also the food was very good and more than enough (including breakfast).

We went for sundown beers at a nearby island with a resort that also had a beautiful beach and reef in front of it with sometimes mantas present (or so we’ve been told).

  • Best experience in Fam Homestay!

The fact of skipping Kri,Mansuar and Arborek, where most of tourism stays, it was a good thing to do and staying in Fam Homestay was even better.

It’s a very calm place, with a nice family taking care of you and cooking delicious food while you enjoy the views.

    Location:

Perfect, on the beach, amazing sunset, good snorkeling, 10 minutes walk to a very local small village, also can walk and snorkel the bay behind

    Food:

Amazing. Delicious, variety and more than enough. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Bungalow:

The bed is comfortable, with new mosquito net, and toilet and shower it’s comunal, but very taken care and clean.

The dinning bungalow is also very nice. All homestay is well decorated with lots of love and dedication from Peres family.

Don’t hesitate to stay with Peres family! You will love the experience in that amazing island.

Also Pianemo and Rufas is close. They connected me with a nearby diving centre and it was a good experience as well!

Thank you for everything! Peres,Fina,Justin, Maliki, Lorene, will see you in the future! I’m absolutely coming back! 🙏🏽

    Thanks!!!

  • We spent 6 wonderful nights at Fam Homestay on Fam Island and can highly recommend it. The homestay is located on a beautiful, small beach with two bungalows right by the water. During high tide, the bungalows are even over the water, which adds a special touch. The bungalows are simple yet beautifully designed and open, allowing for fresh air. The entire property is decorated with a lot of love – handcrafted fences, coconuts, bushes, and shells create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

There is a shared bathroom building with a Western toilet in one room and a shower with Mandi in the other. Both was always very clean. We were lucky to have the homestay all to ourselves for the full 6 nights and enjoyed the peaceful solitude. Other than the sound of the waves and the occasional boat, it’s just you and nature here.

Perez and his family are incredibly friendly and kind hosts. The three daily meals were plentiful and very delicious, with rice, veggies, fish, and fruit prepared in a variety of ways, perfect for fueling an active day.

The house reef is amazing – from the bungalow, you already have a fantastic view of the reef and the fish. While snorkeling, we saw turtles, (baby) sharks, stingrays, and many schools of fish.

We took a trip to Piaynemo with Perez, which was absolutely fantastic. We left early in the morning and were among the first groups at the viewpoint. The snorkeling spots along the way were also breathtaking, with vibrant corals and colorful fish. We also went on another snorkeling excursion to search for manta rays. The snorkeling spots were all incredible; we saw turtles, sharks, and Napoleon fish. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any manta rays, but Perez put in a great effort and even took us out again in the afternoon. Nature can’t be controlled, after all.

About 10 minutes away is the small village of Saupapir. You can walk to a jetty on the north coast, which offers a fantastic view of the reef. Additionally, you can hike about 6 km to the east coast of Fam.

On the first night, we had a visit from a rat that wanted to steal some of our snacks. Perez gave us a pot to store our food, and after that, we didn’t see the rat again. Additionally, when the wind blows from the land, the open bungalow can get a strong, typical Indonesian fire smell, which can be a bit pungent. However, Perez kindly provided us with a fan and even put out the nearest fire to reduce the smoke.

Overall, we had an unforgettable time and would recommend Fam Homestay to anyone looking to experience the beauty of Raja Ampat in a peaceful, natural setting.

  • the stay at Fam homestay was a great choice! Perez and his wife Fina picked us up at the port and it was easy to meet, he speaks English so it’s easy to communicate! the boat trip is long but he is a great skipper! the bungalows are well decorated and ours was large with a comfortable veranda where you can relax and watch the fish. we arrived with rough seas that made the beach a bit dirty but it was immediately raked and cleaned! the garden on the beach is very well kept, clean and tidy, the paths made of sand are raked and cleaned every day, as well as the bathroom always very clean and fragrant! we did a different excursion every day and Perez took us with the boat to wonderful places and at honest prices. His family is very sweet, smiling and very helpful, a lot of credit goes to Fina who is an exceptional cook! 3 meals a day always abundant, well presented, varied and fresh, the delicious taste… vegetables and fish always delicious and cooked to perfection! the breakfast very tasty and always different and the fruit was never missing, also water, coffee and tea always available! for us the best food in Raja Ampat! the Fam islands are wonderful, full of palm trees and white beaches, beautiful seabed rich in coral and fish for snorkeling! the local villages are very quiet and everyone comes to meet you greeting and giving smiles! we relaxed a lot in our bungalow and we spent beautiful moments in this place and with this family. highly recommended!
