  • 5 over-water private bungalows
  • 3 VIP bungalows on the beach

The VIP bungalow has an ensuite bathrooms.

Private bungalow guests share a 3 room bathroom building. Each room provides a western style toilet and bucket bathing.

Meals are served in Delvin’s dining shelter at a large table that has bench style seating. Drinking water, tea and coffee are always available there.

Electricity is supplied by generator at night and the bungalows have power sockets and room light switches.

Delvin Homestay receives a fairly good mobile phone signal which will usually support a data connection.

The nearest village where you can buy basic supplies is Yenbuba on Mansuar. Yenbuba is about a fifteen minute boat ride away and can also be reached on foot via sandbanks exposed at low tide.

Only minimal English is spoken at Delvin, so be sure to bring a phrasebook if you have no Bahasa Indonesia.

Transport / Getting there

Transport from Waisai to Delvin Homestay is by speedboat and costs IDR 800,000 each way. The cost is shared by passengers (Maximum of eight.)

Read more about Raja Ampat boat transport prices here.

Activities

Delvin Homestay's location between neighbours Mambetron Homestay and Mambei Homestay means that, like all Kri homestays, Delvin has a great house reef and offers a range of activities. Be sure to bring your own snorkelling gear to make the best of it.

Diving

Sunday Diving: Only available after conclusion of church services at 1200.

Delvin has an on-site dive center. Dives cost IDR 600,000 per person per dive, including guide and equipment hire costs. If you have all your own gear, dives are IDR 500,000 per person per dive.

Please note: In October 2019, dive centers at Kri made an agreement that they will not ‘steal’ clients from each other. This means that, if you are a guest of a Kri homestay with an on-site dive center, then you will only be able to dive with that dive center. If you want to be free to choose who to dive with, then do not book Kri accommodation at a homestay with an on-site dive center.

Hiking: Long north coast hikes are possible at low tide and there are trails leading to a panoramic lookout on Kri's heights that provides spectacular views over the neighbouring islands of Ransiwor and Mansuar, south across the Dampier Strait to Batanta and north to Gam and Waigeo. In addition to long beachwalks on Kri, at low tide it's possible to cross the sandbanks that join Kri, Ransiwor and Mansuar.

The sandbanks are a great attraction in themselves, as they afford the chance to see a host of marine creatures trapped in small pools waiting for the tide's return. The exposed sand gives access to Ransiwor, the small island between Kri and Mansuar which has excellent snorkelling around its southern shores. Beware of strong currents there though - especially once the tide begins to run.

You can cross to Mansuar to visit Yenbuba and then continue along a well made trail along Mansuar's north coast all the way to Yenbekwan if you want. Be aware of tide timings though - otherwise you'll need a boat to get you back to Kri.

  • Zero-stars – cannot recommend. Okay-ish stay, horribly managed.

The positives: Good huts, okay bed, food was good (if youre lucky enough to not come last to a meal, because it’ll be gone by then).
Boats and equipment good(for Raja standards)
Reef at the end of the jetty is beautiful for snorkeling.

    As for the negatives:
Do you enjoy animal-cruelty free accommodation? Dont stay here. If you enjoy waking up to 10 week-ish old puppies screaming in fear and anguish as the kids carry/throw them around by their tails and throats and kicking them, this is the place for you. Whatever floats your boat, i guess. We, and other guests, voiced this to both the owner(which was totally absent during our whole stay) and the staff throughout the stay.

Be prepared for rats (however this is a common problem on the whole island)

Time management and planning skills on par with a 2 year old.

Total abstinence (both physically and mentally) by the owner, manager and dive guide. Owner, as mentioned, was no where to be seen during our stay. That would have been fine, if the other staff was okay to deal with.

Manager, despite speaking perfect english(seemed american?), did not engage us, or any of the other guests during our whole stay there. Originally thought he was a guest, found out on the last day, after seeing him hang out(i.e not working) with the staff throughout our stay and having to ask him specifically if he worked there, that he was, in fact, the manager. Did do a good job as the permanent diveshop bluetooth DJ, however it was somewhat annoying getting blasted by music at 10 when we where ready to sleep.

So, anyways, with both the owner and manager totally absent, we where left with the dive guide.

Dive planning, organizing and execution seemingly in chaos. Incompentence or negligence? Hard to guess, probably a bit of both?

No briefings given. Thought he was adamant on a check-dive and not bring to many people on the night-dive!

For some reason, they decided to rent out(?) our filled tanks to someone that popped by for a sunset dive, leaving us without filled tanks for ours. Result – no sunset dive. Not the biggest issue, but it still adds on to the pile of problems.

We requested specific POPULAR sites around Kri when we arrived, which the other guests at the homestay also eagerly agreed with. We dove 2 of the 6 we requested. For 2 other dives, our wishes where “forgotten” on both days (apparently theres a que system for some sites). 2 last planned dives you may wonder? Continue reading.

“Papuan time” was a phrase that we learned during our time in RA. Totally normal and fine in most cases. Add atleast 1 hour to the time which you are told. We’re going at 8? Be prepared to leave around 9(they start preparing at 8). Anyways, i digress.

On our last dive day, we emphasized the night before the need to leave at 8 and not 9 to make the dives and then get to Waisai for our ferry. 9’o clock swings around, and theyre slowly loading tanks into the boat. We’ve given up hope at this point. We retrieve our equipment from the boat, where the divemaster, in shock, is asking why we’re not diving, despite emphasizing(and knowing??) our timetable??? Atleast we got transport to Waisai in time. However this was also organized last second, making us sweat for a moment. Guy that drove us was nice, despite limited english.

Anways, 09:30 swings around, and the dive boat leaves the beach. They park by the end of the jetty, and has to make 4 separate runs back to the diveshop to retrieve forgotten equipment. 10’o clock the boat leaves the jetty, to two random dive sites that that the we(we didnt go diving so it dosnt matter to us) that none had agreed to in advance.

  • Our stay at this homestay on Raja Ampat was unfortunately very disappointing. The accommodation was significantly worse equipped than expected. There was far too little food overall, and those who arrived last at mealtimes had to expect to get hardly anything. This is absolutely unacceptable at a homestay where all guests pay for meals. In general, we didn’t feel that any particular effort was made to be hospitable. Much of it seemed careless and disorganized. The dives were chaotic; procedures were poorly coordinated, and it didn’t appear that safety and professionalism were top priorities. We had also booked two overwater bungalows. Once there, it wasn’t clear which bungalow was even available. We had to ask three times for towels. The beds also had an unpleasant, strong odor that made it difficult to fall asleep. What was particularly shocking for us was the way the dogs were treated. Both adults and children treated the dogs (especially the puppies) like toys, grabbing them by the throat or pulling on their legs. No one seemed to care, not even when one of the dogs was obviously injured – it probably had a broken rib. Even after speaking to them directly, no one seemed to care. The complete lack of responsibility and care shown here was very difficult to witness. Overall, we unfortunately cannot recommend this homestay.

  • I highly recommend Delvin homestay after an amazing experience scuba diving, snorkelling and relaxing during my 5 night stay in early February 2026. Danny, Brandon, Barto, Pascal, Edgar and the team were always professional and helpful in every way and I felt comfortable on every dive and the locations were outstanding. The snorkelling from their jetty was outstanding as was the sunsets and moon rises. I brought my own dive gear not knowing what to expect but they actually had a large arrival of brand new equipment whilst I was there. I could see the team were setting up their new dive shop complete with brand new BCD’s, regs, boots, fins etc. They even invested in a large medical oxygen cylinder and first aid equipment for their dive shop/boat showing the value they place on safety. There was 1 good sized modern fibre glass dive boat which has the capability of fast and comfortable motoring to distant destinations and also some long boats which are perfect for the local dive sites. I enjoyed 3 good meals/day which were served in the large covered dining room on the shore where I could eat with my fellow guests discussing our experiences etc followed by some quiet time to myself in my hammock out front of my over water bungalow or exploring the island. Clean drinking water, tea and coffee was always available. There were 3 shared toilets and they were upgrading the shower during my stay. I believe they were setting up 24/7 wifi powered by solar using star link for guests. Power, lighting and a pedestal fan was in each bungalow and came on at sunset and continued until 7am. The mozzie nets were new with no holes although I didn’t experience any mosquitoes or bugs or rats during my stay…not 1 😊

  • The worst place ever visited. Nobody cares about the customers only money counts. Dirty, basket toilets never emptied, not even one sink and mirror, dining table never cleaned, dinner plates and cutlery hanging around all night with food in them and rats around, etc etc, breakfast consisting on doughnut, hot water and teabags only refilled upon request, in short not a basic place but a very untidy and dirty place.
On the 31st the owner was so drunk that he could not dive for 2/3 days.
We choose this place for snorkelling and this was only available when the boat was not full with divers. They took us on a long boat equipped with a very basic and rough wood ladder which made it almost impossible to go back on the boat even for very strong and young people.
Raja Ampat ha been a touristic spot for many many years and it seems that some home stays still don’t know how to take care of their place and have learned nothing except taking money. They are not even at the level of the losmen in Bali 50 years ago
How can you send people in such places !!

  • Excellent 5-days at Delvin’s place. Thanks to Danny, Pascal, Edgar and all. Accomodation is clean and simple. We stayed in a overwater cabin which is nice. Food was overall diverse and good. Big plus is the jetty and the amazing reef just at the homestay. Danny was also very accomodating to organize different trips at decent prizes

  • Very nice stay at Delvin. Food was great and change every meal, bungalow are simple but confortable and Dani and his family are welcoming. Diving there is awsome. I would have loved to have Dani as guide for all the dive.

  • The best Homestay experience I had in Raja Ampat!
The room was huge and very comfortable. Yes, there were some rats, but that’s something you’ll find all over the island, not just at DELVIN Homestay. When you travel to such remote places, I believe it’s important to adapt.

The food was excellent—varied, tasty, and even included afternoon snacks. The owners were kind and always helpful, which made the stay even better.

The diving experience was simply unforgettable. I had the best dives with Danny and Tobias. They not only guided us perfectly but also took pictures with their camera and shared them afterward—such a wonderful memory to keep!

Overall, it was an amazing stay and I would highly recommend it.

  • Please, do yourself a favour and enjoy this Hometsay!

Definitely my favorite one in Raja!

Danny the dive master is really friendly, and will make you at your ease!

Mama Balandina, is so funny and make the best food of all over Raja (every guest I met over there said the same)

The kids are so cute and make you feel part of the family!

Yes there is rats, like I could read on the other reviews, but there is rats on every island in Raja.
Don’t let your food in your room, and you can ask for a box to leave it out of your bungalow!

Also, Danny is passionate about diving and he will enjoy diving with you every day! He got such a good eyes to spot ANYTHING, especially macro stuff!

About the location, best one ever, you got the sunset, and being in the middle of the island will give you the opportunity to do snorkelling whenever you want, on each side of the Hometsay!

  • An unforgettable experience and an absolute No-Go!
We had booked a VIP bungalow with ensuite bathroom and toilet on the beach for our stay in April. But what did we get?
Well, first there was NO Vip bungalow with bathroom and toilet, although it is still advertised on the SRA website. It has been changed into a storage room for the dive center. And apart from NO VIP bungalow, there were NO towels, NO blankets and NO toilet paper rolls.
Instead, we were offered a very small, completely run-down and dirty bungalow on the beach without a veranda; we refused to accept that. Then we got a bungalow over water, which couldn’t be properly closed from the outside and the door wasn’t close enough. So, during the storm in the following night water entered the room..
The next morning everything increased even more. There was nobody to be seen. So, there was NO breakfast, NO drinking water and NO hot water for tea or coffee.
Thank you very much for nothing! There is NO excuse for this behavior! Delvin never again!
Delvin adalah penginapan terburuk di Indonesia. Terima kasih banyak atas apa pun.

    • Delvin definitely does have a VIP beach bungalow. Unfortunately, because of a record-keeping error at Delvin, that bungalow was not available for Gerhard and Ulrike when they arrived.

Stay Raja Ampat guarantees refunds in the event that guests have to stay in rooms that are not of the type that they paid for. Gerhard and Ulrike were refunded in full in accordance with that policy.

  • This is my third time staying at Delvin Homestay and it will not be my last. This time I stayed for 16 blissful nights on this little slice of paradise. Over the years I have seen Danny and his family working hard to improve the homestay.

Just recently the overwater bungalows are slowly being replaced by newer ones which are a lot sturdier and much roomier. I enjoyed many epic sunset views from my hammock.

There is a hiking path directly out the back of the homestay to a nearby viewpoint and access to the other side of the mountain.

The food has also improved significantly, it is varied and there is always enough to go round and make you feel satisfied.

And I have kept the best for the last, the reason I keep coming back is of course for the diving. Danny is a fantastic dive guide and really knows the reefs like the back of his hand. I am truly grateful to Carlos, Ato, Marcello and of course Danny for taking me on some of the best dives of my life.

Future guests just be aware that Kri homestays are not upmarket resorts by any means. The amenities are manageable but basic. Although, the nature both under and over the water make up for it.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Delvin with Dani and his family. A very fair price for the location and experience of staying in such a paradisiacal setting.
Great house reef for snorkelling, nice food options (especially lunch and dinner), and plenty of opportunities to head out with the divers to snorkel at different locations, for a fair price.
Accommodation is basic which is to be expected, but clean and comfortable. We had no issues with mosquitos or rats, but exercise caution if bringing your own food!
If we were to visit Raja Ampat again, we would happily return to Delvin and recommend to others looking for a relaxing and genuine experience.

  • Dani was great and the whole experience was very unforgettable. Please remember you are visiting a place that is very remote and there are limited resources. Food is great, but simple. Rooms don’t have bathrooms, but if you are chill you will be fine and enjoy. Dive spots are best in the world and equipment on site is fine. Def recommend!

  • This was not our first stay at Delvin Homestay. We returned to Kri specifically to dive with Danny. He is an amazing dive guide, a fantastic critter spotter and is very attentive to the needs and interests of his diving guests.

The homestay is in a beautiful location with an amazing house reef immediately in front of the accommodation. At night we lay on the dock and watched the endemic Raja Ampat Walking Sharks swimming under our room. Short hikes through beautiful rainforest are possible directly from the homestay.

We could not ask for more from a homestay than what we have consistently experienced at Devlin. The opportunity to stay with Danny and his extended family is an honour, offering a chance to experience the warmth, hospitality and way of life of a beautiful local family.

  • I had a great time there, it was the last stop in Raja Ampat, after staying on two other islands. Been there at the beginning of January and was a bit concerned due to some reviews. I received a water bungalow, as booked. The bed and the hut were good, clean, no problems with the rats (never let any food around) great location, perfect spot for sunset, clean toilets, the food was delicious, 2-3 options most times. Diving was fantastic, we went with a guy, Miguel, since Dani was sick and couldn’t dive. I would definitely come back there next time, it was such a happy time.

  • We stayed here for 5 nights and had a wonderful time in great company. Papa Danny took us to good local dive spots to see mantas and other fantastic marine life. Mama Balandina’s food was delicious and we were privileged to catch a glimpse of the roles that she and Danny play as heads of an extended family complete with super cute grandchildren! It was lovely to get to know them a little bit, and to hang out with other travellers, diving, snorkelling and watching the sunset together. The lush jungle is just back from the beach, with birds calling from the trees. The house reef is great, with turtles, loads of fish, baby sharks and even a sea snake. Bathrooms are basic and the rooms have only beds and wooden shelves, with clean sheets and towels. It’s not luxurious and the single electric light/socket is only on some of the time. However, the quiet charm of the family and the jaw-dropping beauty of the setting are total winners. You are in touch with your surroundings in a way that you couldn’t be in a luxury resort.

  • I stayed roughly a week at Delvin Homestay and absolutely loved it. The people are very kind, the location is breathtaking and the diving was great. Dani knows the dive sites perfectly and always took us to places where we would enjoy the dives the most. He was always thinking ahead and helped me out a lot. I absolutely loved the dives and would love to go back someday!

The homestay itself was also incredible. I personally was not affected that much by the rats. I simply did not keep any food in my room and hung any soap, or other items that they are attracted to, on the wall. The food was great and got quite some variety of fish. I definitely recommend this homestay!

  • Our stay at Delvin was our first stop during our trip to Raja Ampat.

Everyone was very welcoming, the food was good, and Dany even accompanied my friend for his first dive.

It’s a small local family living there, and it’s great to support them because they are doing a great job.

  • I stayed 4 nights at Danny’s homestay. It was incredible, Danny is an AMAZING dive guide. Probably the best Dive Master I had on my one month trip . This was the last place I stayed and one of my favorites .Yes the equipment is a little outdated but I had no issues with it. Food was good, location excellent, with a beautiful house reef with Turtles, lion fish, sharks snd beautiful corals. I highly recommend this place. They gave me the end bungalow over the water it was great! I hope the return again next year

  • It‘s so terrible. There are a lot of rats coming nightly into the bungalows. And you have to put all things like food, medicaments, soaps, cosmetics in a box. Otherwise the rats eat all and destroy everything. You are Glas of other First Tell you about this. From the Homestay no one tells you anything! The food is every day more or less the same. The personal is unfriendly and tries to avoid contact as far as possible. As soon as they spot a guest, they close the door and disapear immediately. When we arrived, nobody explained anything. They put our luggage in front of one bungalow and said:“choose and free bungalow“, That‘s was all. Not more explanation. That you have to ask other guests for. And the worst of all is the rental dive equipment. It‘s life threatening!!! Manometer that tell you 50 bar, but the bottle is empty. Then you grab the second octopus of someone beneath you, but that has a crack in the membrane so that you breath water. Inflators that fill the jacket constantly, leveling impossible or others that do not stop filling the jacket fast without stopping after you shortly has pressed the button – you are shot to the surface. Leakages on bottle and inflator valves and on broken inflator buttons and so on. If you bring own equipment it is good diving because Dani is very good as dive guide. You do not have own equipment do not dive here!! You risk your life!!!

  • We had the pleasure of spending 5 nights at Delvin. The bungalow over water was simple but the location was amazing. Sunrise and sunset were other level . We were lucky to share our time with gorgeous people from different countries , there was a really cool vibe. Food is nice so far and the portions were enough. Breakfast could be better if a bit of fruit would be added but apart of that , no complaints. Danny is a great dive master and looked after us, we did 6 dives and every single one was different and special. The equipment is dated tho and sometimes gives issues (if you can bring your equipment is the best). The snorkel just by the homestay is crazy, really wealthy coral reef and loads of species ( turtles, sharks, etc). Night snorkel was awesome. If you bring food make sure you get one of the plastic boxes to keep it safe from “visitors”. As other reviews said , this is a humble place, so don’t expect luxury.
We would definitely repeat if we come back to Raja.
    Terima kasih

  • We visited this homestay for two dive sessions, and the experience was truly unique. Dani, the dive master, is highly professional and has extensive knowledge of the dive spots. The equipment provided was in great condition, which added to our overall confidence and enjoyment.

  • I cannot say enough good things about Dani and the entire Delvin Homestay crew. Incredibly nice, always asking if I needed anything, and the food was delicious. I dove 3x a day for a week straight, and always felt comfortable with Dani underwater. He’s been diving these islands for 14 years, so if you want a local guide who knows where to find any animal you want, Delvin is your place. Delvin isn’t the place to stay if you want bells and whistles, but if you want the experience of a local guide and delicious food, stay HERE!

  • WOW! Raja Ampat has captured our hearts and this is not only because of the wonderful unspoilt nature, but also because of the people we got to know, who showed us their culture, their way of life and their warmth and open-mindedness. We had a wonderful 6 nights at Delvin Homestay. Danny, his family and the whole crew gave us a very warm welcome, cooked delicious meals and went diving with us. Danny and Yonas are great dive guides who know their reefs very well and were able to provide us with many wonderful underwater moments. If you accept the simple conditions and are aware of the privilege of being able to visit such a great place and get a glimpse into the lives of the locals, you can have an unforgettable time here. We are very grateful to Danny, his family and the crew and will remain friends with them forever. We will certainly be back in a few years’ time.

  • Unfortunately I can’t recommend the Delvin Homestay at all. Due to the good reviews before I booked this homestay for one week, but I really regret it. Right from the beginning it was an unpleasant stay. I booked the transfer with Delvin, but nobody showed up to pick me up from my homestay before. I had to contact the wife of Dani again and again until they picked me up. After a delay of two hours, I arrived at Delvin homestay and again nobody showed up to welcome me, although they knew I was arrived. Then they told me that the over water bungalow I booked is not available and I should go into one of the beach bungalows. These huts they proposed are tiny, humid, dark, and largely infested by mold. I refused to go into one of these huts and after a long discussion and the kind willingness of one guest to leave its bungalow one day earlier, I could finally move into an over water bungalow. Later nearly all guests told me they had the same problem, their booked over water bungalow was not available. It seems that overbooking of bungalows is a common strategy of this homestay. Later when guests arrive, they try to put them (for the same money) into these poor huts that cannot be offered officially by Stay Raja Ampat.
I am a diver and I booked Delvin homestay mainly because it says it has a dive center. Unfortunately it was a mistake. When I was there, a group of four Germans had blocked the dives of a whole month. Dani was not willing to consider my wishes for specific dive sites and ignored completely the fact that I don’t feel comfortable to dive in places with very strong currents. His attitude was rude and mocking.
The dive equipment is in a very bad condition. There is only one long wet suit in size S and the zip is broken, hence I could not close it. One regulator was leaking all the time, another regulator filled my mouth constantly with seawater. He doesn’t sort out defect regulators or fix them, he gives them just to the next guests. I only dove two days with Dani because I didn’t feel safe and comfortable. Besides I didn’t like his behavior under water either. We saw a wobbegong resting at the bottom of the sea. Dani pushed his stick against the side of the sleeping shark to wake him up and get it to swim. Divers of our group touched and lifted a sea cucumber, but Dani didn’t say anything. I think this is an absolute no-go and you should never disturb or harass marine life.
If you want to dive around Kri I recommend to choose another homestay. There are so many better ones. After two days I dove with a small dive center next to the Delvin homestay and it was really a nice experience.

    • Sorry you had this experience Parissa, and thank you for taking the time to leave a review highlighting these issues.

Stay Raja Ampat guarantees that you will get the room you book, and we provide local support contacts in all booking confirmation emails.

When booked rooms are not available, all you need to do is let us know, and we will either organise acceptable alternate accommodation and transport there at no cost to you, or we will fully refund you.

Hopefully you had a much better stay at the other homestays you booked, and will take the time to let those places know how they did too 🙏

  • Thanks Dani. I came as a stranger and left there as a friend with wonderful memories. Your family are really fun especially the kids who ran around the beach the whole day with out clothes. Even the dogs and cats are so fun to watch.
Dani is a very good spotter for small things, learn so much from you, will definitely make a return in due time to visit you again my friend.
Cannot complain about the rooms. Good enough for me.
Thanks from the 2 old fellas who’s still living life to the fullest!

  • A fuir !

  • We spent 10 nights at Delvin and enjoyed it. It’s simple, as most homestays in RA, but it’s great. We slept in bungalows with toilet. One was wooden bungalow, other one stone. Better prefer wooden bungalows for sure, even if they do not have own toilet. There is less humidity and more air moving. Yes we saw rats (we had no food with us), but this was nothing. I was afraid of mosquitos, but actually there is very few mosquitos.
They have most beautiful housereef where you can snorkel any time. Baby sharks came do play in front of our bungalow. There was bioluminescence plankton 2 nights right on our beach.
We also claimed to viewpoint, it was really nice.
Danny is excellent host. We were snorkeling with divers, there was always lot’s to see for snorkeles too. We even saw mantas 🙂 Prices are reasonable.
We needed doctor one evening, Danny took us to Waisiai and gave a boy as a translator with us.
Food there is excellent. OK, breakfast is mostly donuts and pancakes, so you can roll home, if you stay long enough 🙂 But it’s delicious. Fresh fish, vegetables, egg, shrimp, you name it! Every time different and tasty food.
Take your own toilet paper. Take your bottle, you can fill it with water there. They do loundry, but it takes time do dry clothes, if it’s wet outside. If toy need to change your sheets, just ask.
We really hope we can come back some day!

  • The stay at Delvin was so bad that I didn’t want to think back about it for a long time.
We reminded the homestay the previous night via text message that we would arrive the next morning. When we arrived there was total surprise. We had booked and paid for two huts. It turned out that one of them had been given away to walk-in guests in case we wouldn’t turn up. It took more than two hours for the walk-in to pack up and vacate the above water hut. The other hut was a solid bungalow with bathroom that was mouldy, moist and in such a bad shape that nobody would want to stay there. As we refused to accept that, we were offered a brand new wooden beach hut that was still under construction. At least it wasn’t mouldy.

The food: disappointing, boring, repetitive and hardly enough. We also didn’t like the plastic dishes that were used for everything. The restaurant area was fly infested and you didn’t want to have a look into the kitchen to see where the food was prepared.

The diving: This was our main reason for choosing Delvin Homestay. It turned out they didn’t have enough suitable equipment for 3 divers. We are very experienced divers. What we saw made us decide to dive somewhere else. I can only recommend divers to carry a carbon monoxide detector!
Also, obviously, if they don’t have proper gear the following rule doesn’t apply:
“Please note: In October 2019, dive centers at Kri made an agreement that they will not ‘steal’ clients from each other. This means that, if you are a guest of a Kri homestay with an on-site dive center, then you will only be able to dive with that dive center. If you want to be free to choose who to dive with, then do not book Kri accommodation at a homestay with an on-site dive center.”
We decided to dive at a nearby dedicated dive resort that had reasonable prices.
However, Danny didn’t talk to us anymore. The whole family usually went into hiding when they saw a guest trying to talk to them anyway. Apart from putting the so called food on the table there wasn’t much interaction.

Rats? Yes, but we were hanging everything important on a rope we attached to the roof beam. That saved us.

Any house keeping? No. Do it yourself. Nobody comes to empty the rubbish bin or occasionally sweeps your hut….

The only thing to enjoy here is nature.

    • We’re sorry to hear of this so long after the fact Holger.

If you had contacted us at the time, we would have refunded you for any nights that you had to spend in a room that was not of the type you booked, or we could have fully refunded you and found suitable alternate accommodation.

We’re surprised that you didn’t reach out to us at the time by one of the support channels provided in your booking confirmation email.

  • We stayed at Delvin for four nights in mid December. We slept in the over water bungalows, toilets are close to the bungalows and views where amazing. The food was good and varied. We were bothered by having rats in our bungalow but Delvin did arrange boxes for us where we could store our food. The freshwater that you shower in is salty and you feel sticky all the time, we did not experience this salty fresh water at any of our other homestays. We went diving with Delvin, the equipment is not the best but it works. The dives we had were good, however Delvin touches the coral and the marine life which we did not appreciate. All in all the homestay is good and the housereef was great. The family is very friendly and helpful. You can watch great sunsets and look at the stars during the night.

  • We just spent 4 nights at Delvin’s and had a really great time. The location is really the highlight of the place: on the sunset side of the island and strategically located so you can walk to both ends of Kri (both exceptional, cape Kri and the connection to Mansuar). Also, probably the most beautiful reef sits just in front of the Homestay. The place is simple but it has all the essentials. Danni is very experienced and inspires confidence.

!! Tips for newcomers to Raja Ampat !! It was the first time for us and we wanted to explore as much as possible so we moved island in the attempt to reach Waigeo; we never actually made it, so we don’t know whether it’s worth it or not but here there are few considerations we would have liked to know before planning the trip: 1. The sea can be quite rough as you get west of Arborek; 2. Transfers between islands are quite expensive and you don’t always find people to share the cost with, especially if it is only for a transfer and you have fixed timelines (IDR 2.5million Kri-Fam); 3. we had twice quite a journey across rough seas, so be prepared to get wet; 4. there is a cargo bot once/twice a week that stops to major islands: consider planning your trip around it (cheaper and safer but longer journey. Fam-Sorong circa 8-10 hours); 5. island hopping vs staying on one island: for less than 5 nights we recommend staying in one island and join/organise day trips to other destinations; 6. Kri has exceptional reefs and very well located in the centre of multiple key snorkelling/diving spots and you can easily walk alone to different places so you are not necessary dependant on the boat; 7. Telkomsel has good network coverage in the area; 8. Manta season is from oct to May (apparently very crowded) but the rest of the year there is better visibility; 9. Unfortunately we couldn’t dive because we got a cold from the plane but the snorkelling is so astonishing that we didn’t miss it 🙂

Great experience – we will for sure try to come back!

  • I’ve e been in Delvin homestay in December and January 2022 and came back now, July and August 2023. Diving with Dani is an honor and privilege! I hope I can keep coming back many times. I also love my bangalow! The snorkeling is also superb!

  • Just spent 6 peaceful days here at Delvin homestay, which flew by. Dani speaks good English. He and his family were always pleasant to deal with and eager to help. Dani is generous in his ways and offered a choice of bungalows, and free snorkeling gear even though I brought my own. His wife Balandina cooks tasty meals with generous portions, and with a variety of dishes. Always fresh fruit after a meal. Free tea, coffee, hot water and drinking water is available.

Tour costs are very reasonable and cheaper than other homestays. Distance + weight(number of people) =fuel=cost and for 500k he can get a couple by boat to the top 4 or 5 spots around Kri including Yenbuba jetty on Mansuar. In the afternoon he sent two staff to snorkel alongside the housereef for safety (no charge, but I tipped). We snorkeled over a kilometre. Excellent housereef and safe to snorkel without fins for an average swimmer. Beginners should use fins. Ask Dani for tips.

For 4 or more people in a boat you could go snorkeling around the island for 200k each through him. I made friends with others in the next homestay who joined my boat, which helped. Cost to Arborek and Manta point for 7-8 people was only 300k each. Being an experienced local diver Dani knows some good spots. He was generous in sharing knowledge too.

They will do your laundry if you want. Electricity is on 6pm to 6am and there is a fan in the room. Mosquito nets in all rooms. 24 hrs water supply, no restrictions for use.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay and 6 days melted away soon. I would recommend Delvin homestay.

  • I stayed there for two weeks…Even when I was the only one diving Danny was stilling willing to take me to further dive sites without even me requesting…Danny also has very good eyes for finding the micro stuff and I’ll have to admit that I think I saw only two sharks that he didn’t see first…food was great, beds comfortable and had netting…things were a little rustic so if you want posh then find a homestay that is 10 times more expensive…but if you are there to dive then I recommend..

  • I stayed in 16th – 24th of April. Location is good. It has good snorkeling spot and nice senset.
Danny is good at English and good guide of dive.
Other peoples are very kind and good.
There ‘re cute, shy children in homestay.
We stayed on water bungalow. It’s cool because of wind.
    I recommend water bungalow.

  • We loved our time at Devlin Homestay. We stayed in overwater bungalows and found the rooms to be comfortable, cool and with stunning views. We found Danny and his family to be very welcoming and happy to share their life with us. The food was delicious, plentiful and more varied than we experienced at some other homestays. The snorkelling in front of the homestay was excellent.

We found the diving experience with Danny to be outstanding. He is an excellent dive guide and talented critter spotter. We dived well planned dive profiles to get the most out of every dive commensurate with our experience levels. Danny was very attentive to our wishes and was eager to take us to our preferred dive sites.

We hope to stay and dive with Danny at Devlin Homestay again in the near future.

  • Delvin is a nice homestay with friendly people and good food. The bungalows are basic, but good enough. Our transfer to the homestay and to the next homestay was excellent. The housereef is reasonably good. It has parts with good healthy reef and parts where the reef is (partly) destroyed. Nevertheless there were loads of fishes and therefore worth snorkling. Especially arround one of the jetties more to the east is the reef interesting. The visability was good. As in many places around Kri and Mansuar the reef in the shallows is mainly destroyed or recovering from prior destruction. I would recommend Delvin to other tourists.

  • I had a great time at Delvin Homestay. The bungalow are really basic, but clean and the view Is Amazing. The food Is the best I had in Raja Ampat and there was always plenty for all the guests. Danny Is a good dive guide, and avaiable to arrange dives.

  • We made a booking through this website to stay at Delvin for 2 days and received the confirmation. Upon our arrival, the owner said rooms are Fully booked and suggested to ask around nearby homestay for any vacant rooms. No apology and excuses given. Very disappointed! Wouldn’t recommend Delvin homestay.

    • That a terrible experience Mark and we’re really sorry to hear of it. 🙁

Unfortunately, under the old free booking system, homestays could never rely on booked guests to show up, so there was a definite tendency for many to say yes to everything. Double-booking was an inevitable result.

Now that bookings are paid for in advance and can be relied upon, this will hopefully become much less common.

  • If you’re looking for a place to disconnect and reconnect with yourself , this homestay is the place for you.

The overwater bungalow is very confortable, with a Miskito net and hammocks on the terrace where you can relax.

Danni is fantastic, the best guide of the island. Whatever you want to see, just ask him and he will bring you to the best dive sites to spot whatever you wanted to see.

The house reef is very nice / the best of the island.

I would highly recommend this place without any doubt

  • We spent 10 days in Delvin Homestay and it was a wonderful experience.

The overwater bungalow is very confortable and clean, with a proper double bed with mosquito net. In the terrace there’s a table and a hammok to relax with views to awesome sunset over the sea.

The food is delicious, abundant and variated every day, we even had pasta and french fries some times. All the family was very nice and helpfull with us. And the kids are super cute.

We only have good words for Dani, the owner and dive guide, he is very easygoing, and makes everything simple. He’s a good man! We did 10 dives with him and it was amazing, he has a lot of experience, just tell him what you want to see and he will bring you there, or let him suggest you, he has priceless knowledge of all the dive spots.

But if you don’t dive even the snorkeling in the house reef is extraordinary, one of the best in the island and they lent us equipment for free to go snorkeling whenever we want.

We spent amazing time there for a more than reasonably price, we are very happy to have choosen Delvin.

    Absolutely recomended.

  • We spent amazing 5 nights in Delvin Homestay, with the most available host we ever had in Raja Ampat, Dany. Dany and his family are very friendly, always available when we need.
We did 4 dives with Dany, all wonderful 🙂
We much recommend this guesthouse if you like to be peaceful and a bit part of the family 🙂

  • we loved delvin homestay! dani and his family make it somewhere we would definitely recommend 🙂

dani is easy to talk to and has good advice on snorkelling, he has equipment available for you to use and took us on the boat to a spot where we saw turtles!

the coastline where delvin is located is great for snorkelling and swimming, there is a jetty nearby which you can use at lower tide which is great!

the food is also really good, lots of variety and lots of it! you won’t be hungry at all 🙂

the bungalows are good, mosquito net and fan, power on all night.

there is also a dog side to the family 🙂 which was a bonus for us! especially the puppies!

we would love to stay again!

  • An excellent option in Kri (perhaps the best!) for Accomodation + Diving.

After a few days in Raja ampat we decided to stay 10 days at Delvin homestay because it appears to be the better option!

Most of the homestays are pretty similar but Delvin overwater bungalows are particularly nice, with an amazing view and quite inexpessive.

Dani and his wife are trustable, really helpful and organized.

The bungalow are basic (as any bungalow in Raja ampat) but very clean and really quiet (which is not the case of most of the homestays which are along the beach route so that you have tourists passing in front of your door all the time).

The overwater bungalows have no private bathroom but Dani allow us to use the bathroom of an onland bungalow : this was a perfect combo (the over-water bungalow are much nicer and we had our private bathroom).

The food is excellent : chicken, fish, vegetables, fried bananas…

As for Diving, Dani has an excellent knowledge of the reefs and brings you to amazing diving spots. You dive only in small groups (4 people max).

It is very nice to have accomodation and diving at the same place so that you can take your breakfast and go diving directly.

Delvin homestay was a very nice experience for us; we will come back!

  • We stayed for one week in last november and we loved our experience. Staying at the over-the-water bungalow was a dream I’ll never forget.
The food was delicious, everyday we were surprised with different and tasty meals with lots of vegetables.
The family is very friendly and we felt welcome.
Diving with Dani was also good, although the strong currents may sometimes be challenging for unexperienced divers.
Thank you Dani for receiving us and we hope we can be back someday,

  • My friends (who are both 67) and I (38) had a very good time at Delvin’s homestay. Fortunately we didn’t read the negative comments before booking it, and seriously, Dani and his family don’t deserve this kind of feedback.
It was really harmful for their business and you should think twice before writing anything like that, especially if you keep in mind that this little business provides for a huge extended family.

For my friends, the very basic accomodation was a challenge at first, but the family, the great possibilities for snorkeling and the beautiful setting all made up for it. In the end we all slept well enough and we were even left alone by mosquitoes.

The food was much better than in any other places we stayed (and places we heard of). There was different food every day, even for breakfast (fruit, fried bananas, pancakes…), lots of veggies and almost always a choice of fish or chicken. The food was better than what we were served at a resort we stayed at which was 3 times the price…

Snorkeling around Kri is amazing and you can get to several spots on foot. Dani also took us to several other places by boat and the price for the tours were absolutely reasonable. Please note that you usually pay something in advance so that he can get petrol for the tour.

Dani would like to improve his homestay by adding more hamocks or long chairs, but it is very difficult and expensive to transport furniture to his homestay. So if you have any place left in your bags before getting to his place, why don’t you ask him via what’s app if he needs anything ( +62 822 3930 7439) which can be put into a backpack or suitcase. I’m sure he’ll make up to it somehow.

In total, we had a wonderful time on Kri in the heart of his beautiful family.

  • Fantastic View
i stayed 7nights in the over water bungalow (without in house bathroom). I really enjoyed my stay in the Delvin Homestay.

I’m happy because i didn’t read the last reviews about this homestay before i arrived. My experience about the Delvin Homestay and the owner Dani is positiv.

The owner Dany and his family was very nice and helpful.
The food was tasty and the wife was very flexible to provide the food when i had to leave for diving early in the morning.
The bungalow was basic (like in the most of the Homestays) but clean sheets on the bed.

The view, sunset and snorkelling in front of my bungalow was amazing.

The only negative point was the bathroom situation WC & Shower. They had some problems with the sweet-water pipe. The water for the shower was salty. I guess … they fixed it now?

I didn’t book any trip with Delfin- i was diving with Yenkoranu dive center every day- and the diving was great.

All in all i was very happy there. I would go back to the Delfin Homestay.

Thank you very much for you great hospitality.

    Best regards
    Elke

    Elke

  • STAY AWAY!

Delvin’s homestay is a great example for what happens as so much money gets pushed towards Raja Ampat at the moment – people’s only interest is to make the most possible profit and don’t care if the guests are happy.

Our VIP bungalow was dirty, wet, small and dark. There were just a few options to store our belongings off the ground which you should do because you are sharing your space with rats. The common area lacks space to hang out, no hammock with the VIP bungalows and no beach during high tide on Pulau Kri.

We arranged trips with the owner but got repeatedly dumped because more profitable possibilities emerged. So, we ended up wasting a lot of valuable time. When addressing our dissatisfaction, he reacted really aggressive and told us literally to f*** off.

The food was decent but nothing special compared to other homestays.

We’ve stayed in numerous places in different regions of Indonesia, this was the one horrible experience.

    • Hi Julia

It’s very sad that your experience at Delvin was so awful, and it’s important that other guests know about these problems. We’ll make sure your feedback reaches both the Homestay Association and Delvin’s management.

It’s also important though, that homestays that provide better service are rewarded for it by positive comments. Guest feedback has a huge effect on homestay businesses. It seems from your comment about food that you stayed at other homestays too. It’s such a shame (and sad for the homestays that do provide good service) that folks are always most strongly motivated to leave a review when they have something to complain about…

  • We didnt stay at Delvin – just next door, but we tried to book a few trips with them! On our first day, we met a few young people that had been waiting 3 hours to go on a diving trip that they’d previously booked, only to find out that the boat had taken some other tourists who offered to pay more and they were quite upset as they’d hoped to go to Manta point.

The dive masters were of a usual standard, however pulling at a bamboo sharks’ tail to make it swim was not great.

We tried to do a day trip snorkelling and to Pianemo with them, but after sitting on the boat for an hour trying to get one of the engines to start, we had to abandon the whole trip. They said a full refund would be given and would we like them to take us to our next homestay the following morning and deduct from what we’d be refunded, which seemed fine. We arrived at 9:00 only to be told that Danny had taken the boat to take someone diving instead and no-one knew when he would be back… however he was apparently the only one with any money to refund us the 1.2million we were owed. We therefore had to wait around until 12:30 until he finally came back, when he said he’d refund us and take us after lunch! We eventually got there and got our money back but wasted half a day when we could have been snorkelling / enjoying our short time on Kri.

A lot of the people we met staying here also moved due to rats and poor sanitation.

  • It was an aweful experience!
I stayed here for a couple of night in Febuary 2018. The owner Dani was so unfriendly and didn’t care at all! He left us waiting for 2 hours once for a boat trip (and then the engine broke). And once he didn’t show up at all although we had a trip booked!! In the end we couldn’t enjoy Raja Ampat at all. The food was okay but nothing special.
All in all I wouldn’t recommend it at all! It was horrible.

  • STAY AWAY FROM DELWINS HOMESTAY!!
We stayed 3 days/2 nights at Delwin’s, which was a very disappointing experience:
    – The guy that runs this place – Dani – is a fraud and ruined our Raja Ampat experience. On our first day we arranged a day trip to a few other islands with a couple of other people for the next day at 7:30. The next day however, we ended up waiting 1.5 hours because Danny had to go buy fuel for the boat. And when the fuel had finally arrived, the engine of the boat didn’t work and we ended up not doing the trip at all. Even worse, it was A LOT of hassle to get our money back, which we had to pay beforehand (fuel..). Despite the letdown experience, we arranged another trip with him the next day for 9 am, but Danny just didn’t even show up until 12, which was too late for the trip. When we mentioned our dissatisfaction, he didn’t care and told us to just leave, there would be enough other tourists coming to stay at his place anyway…
    – The on land bungalows are worn down and quite dirty.
    – “Fresh water” from the tap is salty (probably same at the other Homestays on Pulau Kri)
    – Rats in the bungalows. Keep you food in the public fridge!
    – Food was decent, fish and rice in different varieties and there were always mangos or bananas for desert.
    – There is no good place in the common area to hang out and chill. During high tide, there is no beach on Pulau kri except at the western tip (take a look at the Homestay at this part of the island). If you stay at a beachside bungalow, you have at least a hammock and a little balcony in front of the bungalow. The on land bungalows are small and cramped and have no hammock or other kind of place to chill.
    – Watch out for your personal stuff; my hat mysteriously disappeared from the jetty while I was snorkeling…

TL:DR: Stay elsewhere in Raja Ampat, mostly because the guy that runs this place is only looking to make a few fast bucks and does not care about his guests at all.

  • We stayed 2 nights at Delvin Homestay with 9 people. No regret at all, ensuite bathrooms with VIP rooms is more than enough. As we know, ensuite bathrooms is not much at Raja Ampat. The owner, Dani was a wonderful kind guy, the food is all good and tasty. The room is clean & tidy. Snack evening is good.

  • We’ve been at Delvin Homestay on July 2017. It was a beautiful choice. Danny and his family are very kind. We stayed in a comfortable bungalow close to the beach and with the private bathroom. The food was great and various, the location is directly on one of the best reef of Kri Island (few meters off the beach) where you can see always turtles, sharks and million coloured fishes & corals. Absolutely positive experience!

  • No reason to take VIP bungalow because it’s terrible wet inside, very low ciling, no air coming inside and many moskitos. Better way – a bungalow with shered toilet and tall roof. Exactly.
    But food was very tasty.
    Staff is ok.
Not enough space for a rest on the shore. Just few broken sun bed and uncomfortable plastic chears. OMG. If there are more then two guests, the problem with the space takes place. Mostly it is the problem with seats inside homestay yard and coastline

  • We were staying 5 nights with my partner here are plus and minus.
    Plus:
    – friendly
    – sufficient food for all people and taste good

    Minus:
    – Even enough food for everyone and it tastes good but its quite repetitive
    – They charge you for snorkeling for small tour over price but you dont have many option as well in the island because they charge you more and less the same.

  • We stayed 12 days on a VIP bungalow. It’s good to find a little confort. In front of the guest houses is the fantastic place for snorkelling. The food is very good and enough. Daniel is friendly , it’s sometimes necessary to give some explanation to understand. Thanks for all !!

  • Nice homestay. Clean rooms, small fan provided, private bathroom with western toilet. No shower.
    Very good food and plenty.
Good snorkeling from the reef, some puppies and parrots (beware of the crazy parrot! :))
Dani is a nice guy, speaks English and he’s helpful. We spent 2 nights at Delvin, as a family with a 5 yrs old kid.

  • Nice homestay, and the “VIP” rooms are a good deal. Food better then average and with variety (even chicken on last day). Dani is a really nice guy. He arranged to join the Yenkoranu boat transfer from Waisai, saving me a lot of money. He replies fast to SMS and speaks decent English.

Only issue with this homestay is that thers is no good place to watch the ocean from. The bungelows face sideways towards another homestay that is currently under construction. Not really nice. Towards the sea are trees. But you can go to Yenkoranu, buy a beer and use their hammocks. If you want an ocean view from your bungalow, book Mambetron (if you can get them to reply….otherwise just turn up).

Main advantage of North Coast of Kri is that across the 6 homestays there you can easily get a group together for longer tours (such as Manta or Penemo/Fam). Of course for the same reason, you dont get a Robinson Crusoe / paradise feeling, more like a “normal” backpacker beach.

Btw while the snorkelling in front of the homestay until Kri Eco Lodge is good by normal standard, it is really not that great for Raja Ampat. For best snorkelling from the shore, nothing beats staying in Mansuar and swimming at Yenbuba Jetty. See my review for Koryau Kayem.

  • Was there at the same time as Verena (November 2015), and had an amazing stay! The bungalows are very cute, with shower and western bathroom. Nice proper bed with mosquito net. The food is simple but sufficient. Amazing snorkling just outside the porch. The diving was with Yenkoranu homestay, just down the beach. The prices are good for diving, equipment not the best. Do a full check before you go, or bring your own equipment. Dani speaks English and is very hulpfull. Kri island is just incredible, and so is the diving! Soooooo many fish. Overall an incredible stay with lovely people at an epic spot on the planet. Go before it gets too crowded 😉

  • We spent also 6 nights there.
Kind and helpful family. Nice dogs and parrots there.
Food ok but nothing special. They try their best 😉
Good diving and snorkeling on the house reef possible. Equipment and dives with a guide are available at Yenkoranu. The equipment is not the best. You have to do a safty check by yourself bevor diving, or bring your own equipement with you. I would recommend a computer at least.
Kri Island and Ramja Ampat is one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen.

  • We have spent 6 nights at this Homestay in Kri Island at the beginning of April, 2015 and were first guests in here. The nature around is wild and beautiful. A good snorkeling is just in front of the Homestay.
All of four bungalows stay perpendicularly to the beach and all of them have en suited bathrooms “mandi” style. Clean beddings and towels are provided. The owners, Mr. Dani and Mrs. Balandina, are very kind and helpful. She’s a good cook, serving delicious three meals a day. He is advanced diver joining the guests for the diving. As Delvin Homestay is near to other homestays, it’s easy to find tourists to cooperate and share the price for the boat trips visiting Raja Ampat.
Dani speaks English, but not fluently, so, for reservations, he prefers text messages +6282239307439. Telecommunications in here are unreliable, so if you will not receive an answer, just keep trying. They are really waiting for guests. Overall it was a great stay at very reasonable price.
