Note that the dive pricing is per person for two dives. When we asked for clarification, this is what we were told:
Example:
If 3 people dive at Dayan:
3,600,000 (3 pax) + 1,500,000 (boat to Dayan) = 5,100,000 (total)
Since it's 2 dives, the homestay provides 1 guest with 2 tanks.
Also, the 2 dives are for only one location.
And price for the spot is per boat

In April, we spent 4 nights at this homestay. We were the only guests. The only inhabitable bungalow has plenty of space and a large mosquito net with a good mattress. There’s a table and 2 chairs on the spacious veranda. It would be nice if there was also a hammock. Instead, there’s a comfortable wooden lounge chair next to the hut in the shade of huge trees
The bungalow is secluded and very quiet, situated in a bay with a small sandy beach. It’s easy to develop a Robinson Crusoe feeling there. Early in the morning, you’re awakened by an impressive jungle concert of various birds.
To snorkel, you first have to swim across a sea grass meadow about 100 meters wide. It’s actually an ideal place for dugongs, but unfortunately, we didn’t see any. Then there’s a small reef with very beautiful intact corals and a large number of different fish.
The phone signal is practically nonexistent. If you absolutely need a connection, you have to take a 10-minute boat ride to the nearest village, Arefi.
The Rumbewas family, Pak Hermanus and Ibu Paula, have 6 children, all of whom are exceptionally reserved and friendly. The food was always good and plentiful, and in the afternoons, there was homemade cake as a little snack. We mentioned that we enjoy eating fish and like it spicy, so there was plenty of fish served with homemade sambal.
Be sure to bring insect repellent. Pak Hermanus bought mosquito coils and Indonesian insect repellent especially for us.
Snorkeling trips offered by Pak Hermanus at very reasonable prices are highly recommended. Pulau Urun is definitely worth a visit, just a quarter of an hour away by boat. There’s a very large reef with a small sandbank there, featuring beautiful colored corals and many large schools of fish with excellent visibility.
We especially liked Kayof which is only about 10 minutes away, a slightly smaller reef with corals in pristine condition. Since the reef is right under the water’s surface, it’s perfect for snorkelers. There was practically no current, and the visibility was superb. We’ve never seen so many clownfish of all sizes. We also saw mandarin fish there. We liked it so much that we went there twice.
At the beach near the house, Pak Hermanus showed us a spot where the carpet sharks sleep. Additionally, he was keen on showing us his hometown, so we took a free trip to Arefi.
The transfer price to our next homestay was also reasonable and appropriate for a 75-minute boat ride. Overall, we can only recommend this family and this homestay. Here you can still find genuine hospitality, which unfortunately is not common in many other homestays nowadays.
Injo nabor Pak Hermanus and Ibu Paula!
