Details
Bin Meos Homestay joins the many others on Kri’s north shore and offers 3 VIP bungalows in the shade of beachside trees.
Bin Meos Homestay’s concrete-floored bungalows sleep 2 people. The bungalow bedrooms have real beds equipped with sheets, pillows, bolsters and mosquito nets. Each bungalow has an ensuite bathroom with western style toilet and both bucket bathing and a shower. Room light switches and power outlets for charging devices are provided.
Meals are served in a beachside, sand-floored dining shelter. Drinking water and tea and coffee making supplies are always available there free of charge.
Electricity at Bin Meos Homestay is provided by generator and is available from sunset to around midnight. The north shore of Kri receives a strong phone signal and a 4G data connection is usually available.
The nearest village to Bin Meos Homestay is Yenbuba at Mansuar. It’s about a 10 minute boat ride to Yenbuba but only basic supplies are available there, so it’s best to bring your favourite snacks and other must have items with you.
English is spoken at Bin Meos Homestay.
Please always take all your inorganic trash away with you when departing Bin Meos Homestay: There’s no means of safely recycling or disposing of such rubbish on Kri, and leaving it there will contribute to pollution in the islands.
Transport / Getting there
Transport between Waisai and Bin Meos Homestay is by a longboat capable of carrying up to four passengers. The trip cost of IDR 800,000 is shared among passengers.

Activities
Pulau Kri provides the opportunity for long beach walks at low tide. If you want to make a day of it, you could cross the sandbanks at the island's western end to Yenbuba, then continue along the path that joins Yenbuba to the villages on Mansuar's north coast. It's also possible to cross from the north coast, past a lake to the south coast village of Sawandarek and arrange a pickup from there.
A lookout point on the hills above the western end of Kri provides panoramic views to Waigeo and Gam in the north, and southward across the Dampier Strait to Batanta. Sturdy footwear is recommended for the jungle paths that climb to the lookout!
Diving and snorkelling
Diving can be arranged with neighbouring dive centers and excellent snorkelling is available at the door (bring your own snorkelling equipment). Bin Meos Homestay can provide snorkelling and/or sightseeing trips to anywhere you want to go. A selection of the most popular destinations can be found in the table below. Prices are in Indonesian Rupiah and are per trip, shared by participants. Trips are by large longboat capable of carrying up to eight passengers.

Was not a good stay unfortunately as the rooms were really dirty ( rats) and the family did not really cared about problems after storms. They should renovate their rooms urgently! The food portions were unfortunately small/not enough but variant. The family forgot our boat trip and even two times. Would not stay there. The reef in front of the house is good though.

I stayed at Bin Meos homestay in January 25 for 8 nights. The location is beautyfull and I had a good time.
Bungalows are pretty basic with bed, mosquito net, fan and a bathroom with shower and toilet.
Food is simple (rice with vegis and meat or fish) but good.
For diving I went to Yenkoranu at the next homestay, very good too.
You must know what can you expect. It’s not comparable with a Bungalow on the Maldives.
I would go again.

My husband and I stayed at Bin Meos for 10 days and we had a good time there. Bungalows are pretty basic with a bed, a mosquito net, a fan, a hammock out front, and a private bathroom with a toilet and a shower head. We had a big box to put our food and strong scented items to avoid tempting the rats; that didn’t stop them from coming in the cabin during the night, but they didn’t damage our things. The generator runs from 6pm until 5 or 6am. Even though there’s no lock on the door, we never felt like we had to be extra careful about our valuables, and felt safe.
The location is picture perfect with a nice pristine beach and an amazing reef right off the shore. It’s worth swimming to the jetty as well, as the marine life there is exceptional. There are several diving centers around from which you can choose.
The food for lunch and dinner was simple but really tasty and abundant (rice with vegetables and chicken or fish, and fruits for dessert). Breakfast however, was usually very frugal (a couple slices of bread and jam). We were also able to have an early breakfast when we went diving, as well as a lunchbox. And if we came back late from morning dives, they would usually wait for us before serving lunch.
The family was really nice and always ready to help us and accomodate our needs. You can ask to get a boat ride to see the sunset or rent snorkel equipment for an extra fee: just make sure you have a rough idea of the prices for the rides because they tend to ask 30-40% more, but you can negotiate or ask someplace else. All in all, we had a good time but a shorter stay would’ve been nicer.

We are currently staying at Bin Meos, and the experience has been amazing. The family hosting us is incredibly kind, always smiling, and attentive to our well-being. Although Ernest and his family speak little English, we’ve adapted well by using Google Translate when needed. This hasn’t stopped us from having smooth and pleasant conversations.
When we arrived, we were a bit concerned about the comments we had heard about Raja Ampat, with its potential dangers and doubts about whether it was the right place for us. However, from the moment we arrived at Bin Meos, we felt very comfortable. We’ve compared it with other homestays, and we’re very happy with our choice.
The food here is delicious, varied, and plentiful. On diving days, they even prepare a lunch box for us so we can eat while we’re out.
The bungalows come with a private bathroom and shower, and we didn’t see a single rat during our stay. We even spotted cuscus right next to our bungalow, and Ernest helped us for two hours until we finally found them. As for snorkeling at the house reef, it was simply incredible—full of life and stunning underwater views.
It’s important to remember that being in Raja Ampat, surrounded by nature, we cleaned the bungalow ourselves, but we’re sure the family would have gladly helped if we had asked. The main goal here is to connect with nature and the local community, rather than expecting a 5-star hotel experience.
This is our first time here, but we’re sure it won’t be the last.
Essentials: bring flashlights for night snorkeling and to spot cuscus at night, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and snorkeling gear (although Ernest has some available to lend). Also, be sure to hang your belongings and store any food or scented items in the safe box to avoid attracting rodents at night, even though we didn’t see any during our stay.

The accommodation is fine, food ok, by raja ampat standards would be all good, except the location. Seems close to the others except at night when the beach is covered by water and the path is through the jungle. In reality, as a female solo traveller I didn’t feel safe there. It s only one bungalow, so u are actually isolated.they didn’t provide a key to the bungalow, they didn’t show me the inside lock, the windows are barely closing, one night the wife and the kids left the house and I felt completely unsafe with the owner.who did nothing to explain or remedy the lack of key or why the sudden disappearance of the wife.after repeatedly asking for the key and saying I will leave and sleep on the jetty next door , he bothered to show me the non obvious closing system from the inside of the bungalow.stayrajaampat customer service was very nice and reactive, managed to contacted the wife , check the story, she eventually came back till next morning.and I had a visit from the next door home stay owner that actually saw me very distressed and took me to her bungalows.found something for the night.this is my experience, I m writing this for others to avoid the same discomfort. U don’t come to the last paradise on earth to be distressed or fearing the worst.yes they gave me back the money for the last 2 days and some apologies, but my experience is the same. I would recommend to have a phone with signal and battery charged in hand just in case.
The other minor critic, is the harassment for buying tours with the owner..morning, evening, lunch.even when I was super upset, he kept offering tours.that much tone deaf and feels like a market place instead of relaxing.ofc u can join other houses who have more guests and split the costs. The advantage of Kris island.
I hope this helps the next guests at least.
A note to readers, just in case “It s only one bungalow” causes confusion: Bin Meos Homestay has three bungalows with ensuite bathrooms, as described and pictured on their page above.

My and my sister stayed 4 nights at Meos homestay. The bungalow ist quite basic. We missed some shelves or hanging lines to hang stuff in the room. but we had an hammock, which is wonderful to relax.
The house reef is wonderful, the diving center just 2 minutes away.
The food is very good and they changed menu every day. After 3 days we had to ask for some fish.. and we got it.

Me and my wife had the pleasure of staying at this homestay in oktober of 2019.
Perez the host ,was super attentive and committed to our experience. The food was soo amazing and by far the best we had of the 3 different homestays we stayed at. Perez would buy us a lot of chicken, catch fresh fish, offer noodels and rice for every meal, aswell as making the best homemade sambal everynight for us 🙂 We where offered fresh fruits and snack often and overall we just felt extremely welcome and taken care off ! 🙂
Sadly we where set to dive the full week at another divecenter on Kri and never got to to do any tours with Perez, kinda regretted that.
Perez was so kind and took care of all communication with the divecenter and helped us so much.
The housing was a little simple, very nice to have a shower with running water, hot when the hoses where heated up during daytime. But the beds where a little to rough to our taste. This was only issue we had with the homestay and since its so minor we didnt care much.
The housereef is in mint condition and has something for everyone, if you wanna hunt nudibranchs or wierd macro critters, to huge colourfull coral gardens and if you are lucky bigger pelacis are know to cross in the strait.
Due to Perez being such a wonderfull and commited host we would recommend this homestay to everyone.

For sure one of the best homestay in kri island. Just 4 bungalow managed by a kind family. Food was delicious and abundant. So many homestays give you only rice and vegetables, sometimes fish. We have had fish (also two different kind of fish) every day! Vegetables and fruits for lunch and dinner. Many people from nearby homestays envied us.
The bathroom in the room is already a luxury in west papua.
In front of the homestay you can do a superb snorkeling. Cous cous were seeing every day. I will be back soon.

We have arrived there because of a last minute cancellation in Mansuar and with low expectations about the island.
The island
Kri has a very big problem with the rats but we really enjoyed, is not really crowded as I’ve read in some places and the other guests are really nice. The snorkel and diving is superb and there is a viewpoint, several dive centers and the possibility to share tours with other guests.
The homestay
The bungalows have ensuite bathroom and a proper bed but is not really clean.
We give them 4 stars because the food is really nice and plentiful (although we had to remember them sometimes to improve it, we got fish every day), the family is also nice, you have a superb snorkel in front of the door (from yenkoranu hs jetty to mambetron hs). And finally the bungalow is not as clean as it should be, the bathroom smells a bit and we got rats poo 2 nights out of 5.

Hello,
Jo and me (Annette) stayed 11 days this november , we founded the perfect place to stay on KRI . A real and excellent house reef in front of us . The owner Perez and hi wife where just so nice.
The food was good and healthy. For snorkelers, they have now full masks and fins to hire. If you prefer to dive you can go neither to the left or to the right close by. For us it was the best of Raja Ampat

I had a 10 out of 10 stay with Perez and his family in September 2019. I was the only person there and loved the peace and quiet. The homestay is as described on this website – basic but very clean and comfortable. No, they don’t clean your room every day, but I was happy to do what was necessary myself and the site is the tidiest of any that I saw. Leaves swept, rubbish cleaned up etc etc. Some very handsome kingfishers in the trees.
The food was plentiful and tasty – mostly fritters and fruit for breakfast, with lunch and dinner being rice, vegetables, fish or chicken, a tempeh dish and sometimes noodles too. Lots! Perez speaks good enough english, sadly his wife does not, but she’s happy to teach you the indonesian name for things. Their son, Justin, is learning fast.
The marine life is 10+++. The drop off was less than 50 metres out from my bungalow and provided some wonderful snorkelling experiences. Reef sharks, turtles, eels, octopus, squillions of fish etc etc. No stingers. Water quite cold – I wore 3 rashis! Absolutely no need for a guide if you’re an experienced snorkeller.
Perez has nearly finished building his boat. But unlike other reviewers there was no problem for me to get a ride back to Waisai from Yenkoranu homestay which is only 5 minutes away.
I think Kri north shore might be too crowded and busy for me in the tourist season, but for an off season visit it’s a perfect place if you’re an avid snorkeller and happy to sit quietly reading and bird watching for the rest of the day.

We spent a week in a bungalow at Sauyai. To make any judgement, you have to take the context into consideration. You are on a far away island (a paradise) just close to a lush jungle. And the you have a bungalow with an ensuite bathroom, a working and abundant shower, to pump water for you they use a generator. You have a real bed with a good mosquito net and the family cater for all your meals. The fish is overcooked ? Yes but everything is good and fresh.
So yes, there are some hardships. Like in all the homestays, you may have rats and spiders visiting the bungalow at night, specially if you have food. They are in innocuous if slightly annoying.
The family is withdrawn and silent. They are shy. And they will do their best to accomodate you when you ask.
Altogether it was a good experience with an authentic homestay (and not an hotel branded as homestay) with a real papu family. We will go back even if Perez is late and he should get some chairs to chill out in front of his bungalows.

We stayed in this homestay from 8 to 12 july. We are a couple. The bungalow simple, it was almost clean only the first Day. Bed old but You can sleep. We were the only guest so we had the beach for us and the snorkeling also good from the close jetty. Food good. The family is without Education they speak between us with basic language and sometimes sound. They can t understand You if You need something. Ours problems began when Pérez one of the member of the family who speaks a basic english offered to go to Pianedo. So the following Day He didn’ t appear, at the night said to go the next Day for 2 millions and 300 IDR. He said the sea Will be calm and pianemo very closed. Only LIES. instead to go at 7 we leaved at 10 with a local boat. After 1 hour we entered directly in the middle of the monson. The boat started to jump and put in vertical position closed to jump in the water. We asked to stopped .We went in a island and await 2 hours. Monson still coming. We were Lucky to stopped closed to the cove resort who helped to Come back to Kri. There is a protected passage closed to cove. Pérez is not very smart can t understand even in his own language how to Come back. It was very Hard to Come back , a lots of time closed to jump in the water. Pérez put ours life on risk for money. We Were very closed to die. Moreover we finished the gasoline .We were closed to a Village and we can buy. We arrived at kri at 18. In Kri we asked for money back. He gave us 1 million 150. The rest was spent for gasoline. The next we had to take the ferry at 9:00 but the family didn’ t prepare the Breakfast and didn ‘t request a boat. We were helped by Tina of Marbetron guesthouse. We arrived late at waisai and we lost the ferry and the flight to makassar and the planned travel to tana taroja (we lost 500 eur). It a risky stay at a family so primitive that can t speak english and even the local language. They don t have any Education only the basic needs. On 11 of july we were closed to die. So I can t recommend this homestay. When You send a Message to the homestay who answered is the tourist information not the homestay. We wanted to Help a local family but it is better give money to a resort. This family can t kill You only for money. At waisai the people at the tourist information can t helped us. Specially the man from jakarta. It is a mafia. The place is beautiful a paradise but life is more beautiful.
The bungalows are very close to the beach 15 steps 🙂
The beach is cleaned by the owner every day.
Beautiful place for a very quiet holiday, which is sounded with singing birds and splashing waves.
The bungalow quite clean, sometimes a spider appears, but he has other thoughts.
Delicious food, vegetables, fruits, fish.
The owners are very kind and upright.
Just a little reminder for Perez, if the guests can arrange a trip, try to meet him. Otherwise, you were great and the Pianemo trip was fascinating.
We will recommend this place – you will live in nature.

Bungalows > 5/5 (beach front, large, airy, hammock, mosquito nets, 2-3 beds if necessary, toilet, shower)
Location > 5/5 (amazing house reef, perfect for snorkelling, great beach, close to dive shops)
These bungalows are great for a family holiday in Raja Ampat. Perez (the host) is a great guy! He took us to the best spots around Kri.
The only thing missing is a lounge area on the water, but Perez is working on it 😉
It’s our second time here, hopefully we’ll be back!

We spend 3 nights at Sauyai and decided to leave. The location is very Nice and the family is Nice and we had a big room with ensuite bathroom which is a luxury in raja Ampat! But our matras was to soft and bathroom not very clean. Food was good but not a lot of variety, and fried Banana every morning.. I missed Some eggs and coffee creamer!
The couple is young and their english is still very Iittle. Perez did his best to help with Getting ice and coolbox for our self brought beers and they did our laundry. He also offered to take us on a trip to Fam island.
If they get hand soap and clean up the place daily, make sure the bedding (matras and pillows) stay fresh than that would improve the feel of the place.

Nice and welkomming family!
We spend 9 night at sauyei homestay.
Pacefull and snorkling direct on the front beach.
Food is very good.
Accommodation is correct but direct in contact with the nature: little rats and spyders….but with mosquito nett non problemo!

We stayed at Sauyai for six nights. The location is good with great snorkeling spots and two dive centers nearby.
Our bungalow was ok, probably above average on Kri. However, it could have been cleaner, especially the bathroom.
The food wasn’t bad but could have been more variable. We had fried bananas every single day for breakfast.
Communication was pretty difficult as Perez’s English is very rudimentary. Also he was not very helpful with organizing transportation etc.
The owners are still very young and we had the feeling we were one of their first guests so probably most of these issues are only teething problems. We wish them all the best for the future.
We had a great 4 night stay with Perez and family.
Location is good with a number of dive centers nearby. This gave us more choice in dive sites as different dive centers dive different sites.
Rooms came with ensuite and a toilet seat. The beach and homestay area was kept clean.
Perez was very helpful in organising transport or trips.
We would definitely stay again.
