Three VIP bungalows with ensuite bathrooms are available. Bed linen, pillows and mosquito nets are supplied, and all rooms are fitted with power outlets and room light switches.
A private bungalow (no ensuite bathroom) is also offered.
All bungalow verandahs have panoramic ocean and sunset views, and are equipped with chairs, table and a hammock.
Guests share a two-room, tiled concrete bathroom building. Each room houses a western style toilet and shower.
Meals are served in Amfriwen’s beachside dining shelter. Free drinking water, tea and coffee are always available for guest there. In addition to a long table and bench seating, there are also a couple of recliners from which to enjoy great ocean views.
Amfriwen Homestay receives a medium strength 4G cell phone signal. A slow internet connection is usually available.
Electricity is from the village supply, and is usually available from sunset to around midnight.
Basic supplies are available at local shops in Friwen village. The village is about a ten minute walk from the homestay.
Only a little English is spoken at Amfriwen Homestay: Bringing a phrasebook or translation app will make for easy communication.
Rubbish disposal is a problem everywhere in Raja Ampat. Please take all inorganic trash like plastic and dead batteries away with you when you leave Pulau Friwen.
Transport / Getting there
Transfers between Amfriwen Homestay and Waisai IDR 600,000 (Cost shared by max 4 passengers)

Activities
Amfriwen Homestay can organise snorkelling and sightseeing trips to anywhere you want to go.
Be sure to bring snorkelling gear, because there's some excellent snorkelling around Friwen.
It's a short walk from Amfriwen Homestay to Friwen village, where you'll find great snorkelling beneath the village jetty. The reefs around the eastern end of the island are also worth exploring, and the famed Friwen Wall is a short boat ride from the homestay.
Diving
Amfriwen Homestay can take you to any of the nearby Gam dive centers if you want a casual dive. (If you want to dive every day, then it would be best to book at a place with an on-site dive center.)

Nos hôtes ont été très chaleureux et très disponibles;
L’excursion à Friwen wall reste un souvenir inoubliable.
We had a really nice stay in Anfriwen homestay 🙂 The hosts are nice and friendly and the lady speaks good English. It was easy to organize snorkeling trips to Friwen wall and Mioskon which are near Friwen island 🙂 Especially Mioskon had fantastic corals and fish. The view from the terrace is amazing and the sandy beach is just there. Friwen island has a nice vibe and it was also nice to just walk around.
We spent the new year’s in Friwen island and were invited to celebrate with the locals. We also saw the traditional drumming at the New year’s eve. Nice experience!!
The room is quite basic but it has all you need. All negative things that were mentioned in the previous reviews were fixed (door lock and a gate to the eating area). One improvement would be to add a matt in front of the bed so that the sand wouldn’t end up in your bed.

We had a wonderful stay at this homestay in Frewen and highly recommend it. The family is incredibly kind, welcoming, and very well organized. They picked us up in Wasai with great punctuality, which immediately made us feel well taken care of.
Every day they were available to help us organize excursions and activities, always with kindness and professionalism. The homestay has all the necessary comforts, including a private bathroom. One of the highlights is definitely the beautiful beach right in front of the homestay, with an amazing coral reef perfect for snorkeling.
The food was exceptional: every day we enjoyed fresh fish and a great variety of delicious local dishes, all prepared with care. Everything exceeded our expectations.
A truly authentic and relaxing experience — absolutely recommended!

I stayed in the VIP bungalow for 9 nights and dove every day with Tarzan Diving. The hosts were wonderful people and the food was very good. I had a small porch with hammocks, my own bathroom with a shower, and two nice beds with solid bug nets. I did not see or hear a single rat. I enjoyed walking on the beach and talking with the local children. The transfers to and from Waisai port were easy, and Tarzan picked me up each day from the beach by my bungalow. I highly recommend it.

Lovely homestay in great location. Helpful host and fantastic home reef for snorkeling.
We only stayed one night, but wished we had booked longer. We came from a boat based snorkeling tour. Friwen Wall and Island are amazing snorkeling locations

It was a wonderful stay at this remote, calm island! The family offered us the best food we had eaten in Indonesia ( also huge portions)! We are missing this place to be honest. It was the right decision to stay here. The rooms are very clean but don’t forget to bring your own locker as the one which was there did not suit. Did like the small restaurant. Don’t be afraid of the dogs cause they are soo lovely (so even if you are a bit afraid of dogs). They never bark.
The reefs and corals are so beautiful, it is worth to bring an underwater camera. Felt very comfortable;).

Amfriwen is a family run placed, personable. My room at Amfriwen comes with ensuite room, overall clean but mine has linoleum floor which is not as nice as wood floor.
The attached bathroom is convenient.
The food is good, and if request more vegetables or vegetarian, she will cook them.
The cabin faced a beautiful beach and Friwen island has amazing white sand beach with a nice house reef. Friwen wall just around the corner.
I had my diving arrangements through Corepen as I had stayed with them before.
Electricity from 6PM -6AM so a fan really helps with the heat and humidity.
This is the place to just relax.

Thanks a lot! I spend 9 days in this lovely place. The food was the best in 1 month in raja ampat. I had a quite new VIP Bungalow which was also great. The snorkeling was not as good as in Fam or Sawandarek, but the diving with Tarzan diving at blue magic and sardine reef was magic.

Positive:
Beautiful location, nice house reef, tasty food (especially for lunch and dinner). Electricity during the whole night, so sleeping with fan on was possible. Really nice and helpful owners. They helped me buy more data after I got scammed when buying a SIM card and also showed us two Couscous and we didn’t even have to ask for it 🙂
What could be improved:
A little more explanation at arrivel would have been awesome. Like meal times, way to the village, where to snorkel and tours on offer.
The floor in the shared shower is very uneven with moving logs.
A door to keep the dogs out of the eating area would be nice. The poor dogs only wanted affection but had flees and probably also mange, so I’d prefer them not licking my legs while I eat.

Very comfortable Homestay, friendly people, delicious food, own bathroom with shower, very comfortable bed with square mosquitoes nets (especially handy when you are tall 😁), but at this time of the year we did not have mosquitoes. The room has a lock, so this “issue” is solved. Although throughout all of Raja we did not find locks on the rooms and it is not a bigger issue than anywhere else in the world, and actually I believe it’s a far lesser issue here. So don’t let that hold you back from booking this place!

Amfriwen is a magic place and we had a fantastic time there from beginning to end. We stayed 7 nights and missed it alot when we left! The rooms were clean and had everything we needed including good mosquito nets (though mosquitos were few), a fan that ran from about 7pm until 10am the next morning, padlocks for the door and comfortable beds. Ayub, Orlen and their children were lovely hosts – friendly, helpful and accommodating. Food was delicious and plentiful, always with tea and coffee available and some little snacks for between meals. Our snorkel adventures right from the door of the hut were wonderful – loads of diversity – and Friwen Wall is just a 5 min boat ride away. We also were invited on a fun coconut crab expedition by an extended family member who is passionate about local conservation.
I thoroughly recommend Amfriwen if you are looking for a genuine 5-star homestay experience.

Our experience at Amfriwen Homestay was absolutely terrible and ruined our time on Friwen Island. The place had some positives, like decent food and basic rooms with fans, but everything else was a disaster. We booked two bungalows on the beach, which had a nice view, but the constant issue with mosquitoes and sandflies made it nearly impossible to enjoy.
The family running the homestay was friendly, but that’s where the positives end. We booked a snorkeling trip and saw dugongs, which was nice, and local grandpa Tete was a decent guide for the coconut crab excursion at night. However, everything went downhill after that.
The biggest issue is that the rooms have no locks, and the family wasn’t watching over our bungalows. While we were out snorkeling, someone took all of our money from the rooms. It was clear that the locals knew we were tourists and saw an opportunity to steal. The owner did absolutely nothing to help us after the theft, which made the situation even worse.
I cannot stress this enough—DO NOT stay here unless you want to risk losing your valuables. The lack of security is frightening, and the family’s indifference to our situation was appalling. If you do decide to go, bring your own lock and don’t trust anyone, as it seems they are just waiting for tourists to fall victim to theft. This was a completely frustrating and disappointing experience that I would never wish on anyone.
Sorry to hear of this Monika. What an awful experience 🙁
Rooms that can not be locked are very common in Raja Ampat, and despite that, theft is extremely rare. The risk of this happening is really no higher at Amfriwen than at many other homestays in Raja Ampat.
Your leap to the conclusion that local people were responsible feels a bit hasty. It’s possible, of course, but the fact that only Euros were stolen, while Rupiah were left, suggests that perhaps a local person was not the culprit.
